Black Knight Greatsword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Ultra greatsword wielded by the Black Knights who wander the lands. Designed to face chaos demons.

The Black Knights constantly faced foes larger than themselves, and this sword's unique attack greatly reduces enemy poise.

Skill: Stomp
Use one's weight to lunge forward with a low stance and increased poise, and follow with a strong attack for a spinning slash.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Buffed or Infused.
  • Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
  • Deals 20% bonus damage vs. Demons.
  • At 40/40 Str/Dex this weapon has 612 AR and becomes stronger than the Greatsword by 11 points on top of being lighter and having an arguably better moveset - however, the Greatsword hits 639 AR when infused to refined, and can be buffed.

I don't know if it's just me, but whoever I invade/invades me do not know how to counter this weapon. My 40STR/25DEX build, with +5 BKG, does monstrous damage, and with people not knowing its moveset at all, it just puts them down in two or three hits, easy. It's almost like dex-spam R1R1R1R1R1R1 weapons have climbed so high in the meta that they forgot greatswords existed. I haven't lost a single duel in this character's NG+ so far, and it's even stood up to two spam-heavy, Carthus Rogue-katana users.

finally I can tell other players to git gud

For early game farming, i recommend starting from Farron Keep perimeter and walking through the doorway where the ravenous crystal lizard was. Also make sure you have either coventous gold serpent ring and/or a rusty coin active. GL

So i've been farming the Black Knight's after Champion Gundyr and I have at least two of each thing in the set. Except the sword. It doesn't seem to drop at all.

I've been playing with the BKG and the Fugs. Both are +2 at the moment and I see no difference in attack power. As of now the BKG seems superior. It's does the same damage and is lighter. Can somebody explain to me which is the better weapon?

            • 20 Dec 2016 02:25

I tried invasions, put a longsword/thrusting weapon in lefthand. I got to say, amazing strategy but keep your BGS hidden, spam r1 to trick your enemy that you’re a noob... do weapon with longsword/thruster, take out BGS
              L1 L1 R1 R1 R2. It never let me down.

All the sword variant BK wield this, which is well known as the "demon slayer". But only 3 demons in the game, so maybe they still wander around, still thinking demons and dragons still roam the earth. Or maybe they're just killing gankers, who knows

The line that says: " however, the Greatsword hits 639 AR when infused to refined"

^ this is wrong info I believe, doesn't square with the numbers from the greatsword wiki page, or mugenmonkey's weapons page.
Should be 587 AR with refined-infused

                  • This thing is a beast.27 Sep 2016 19:37

Can do 1200+ damage with a rather tricky combo of 2h r1 and 2h r2, making sure to hit with the first part of the strong attack and turning around to hit with second part of the strong attack.

                    • Better than Fume UGS03 Sep 2016 12:13

I fined the art style better than the Fume, not to mention the Fume UGS is legendary which isn't good since everyone knows it's strong attack. I don't have too much endurance, but 1 handed I can fit in 2 strong attacks and then end it off with a quick swipe to the left.

The greatsword is really good for killing off mobs while used one handed but takes quite a bit more stamina. I can only swing 3 or 4 times<br/>Use it against deacons of the deep and you will see what I mean

I find myself getting interrupted in the MIDDLE (not the beggining) of attacks with this weapon. When do you get max poise in the attack animation, if any???:
