Bloodlust is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Katana of the old Mound-maker.

The Mound-maker piled sacrifices upon the altar, but became the final offering himself, leaving this katana as a gift for his dear family.

Skill: Bloodlust
Stain blade with one’s own blood to temporarily grant uncanny sharpness. For one driven by bloodlust, nothing deserves to remain standing.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be buffed or infused. 
  • Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite
  • Bloodlust applies a 45 second buff, which appears to be a 30% AR bonus.
  • Will also damage enemies in front of the user when pulling the blade out.
  • Will cause Bleed Damage for 200 bleed damage. If this exceeds your Bleed Resistance you will experience Blood Loss.
  • Will cause around 6-8% damage.
  • Blood Loss will do around 38% of damage, additional to the selfdamage of the weapon art itself.
  • You can NOT use the buff to gain an AR bonus on other weapons
  • Katana in right hand will not affect left hand weapons AR although Katana in left hand will affect right hand weapons AR, however the weapon you currently hold will lose the bonus
  • Beyond invading for the covenant rewards, Vertebra Shackles required to obtain the weapon can be farmed in the Catacombs of Carthus by killing the red eye skeletons.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      If you hit the enemy with the weapon art it does damage, front hit when you pull it out does about the damage of a strong hit. But the back hit through your body does an insane amount of damage(about around 900 when fully upgraded).

        I would just like to point out that any weapon, no matter how weak, can be your strongest. It all depends HEAVILY on the player. Hence, the freedom that rpg's allow us. Personally, I went through the entire game with nothing but my starting equipment (Assassin set) and Uchigatana. At the final boss, I tossed my shield aside, and beat the Lord of Cinder with Onikiri and Ubadachi two handed. No shield. And only with starting armor. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if a weapon is "crappy" then maybe you just aren't using it right.

          The description for how the AR buff works is contradicting. If you have this thing in your left hand, use the buff, and then two hand your right hand, will the right hand weapon gain the AR bonus, or not?

            I parried the sudoku attack the other day. I did it from behind a person when we were trying to see if it is parry able. Don't know if it's possible from the front though.

              At 35 Dexterity and 21 Strength, Bloodlust is the highest damage katana if you use the Weapon Art. ( I don't know what Onikiri/Ubadachi or Darkdrift do as I haven't fully upgraded them)<br/><br/>Uchigatana +10 = 374<br/>Black Blade +10 = 396<br/>Washing Pole +10 = 392<br/>Chaos Blade +5 = 391<br/>Bloodlust +5 = 328 <br/>Blooslust +5 Weapon Art = 426 <br/><br/>

                  At minimum str requirement + 50 dex chaos blade ar is 428 and bloodlust ar is 348. If WA buff is 30% like wiki says (haven't tested for myself) then while buffed bloodlust's ar is ~452. Just food for thought for those curious. If you want to use the bloodlust, I would probably recommend wearing the bloodbite ring and have red moss in your item slots so the buff doesn't bleed you and you can reduce your bleed fast.

                      Bloodlust is late game weapon, because you need pretty big dexterity (it has A dexterity scaling at +5 ) and then is bloodlust worth it.

                        The spiritual successor to the Bewitched Alonne Sword; this sword lacks everything that made Alonne's good, but keeps everything bad, and brings some more bad to go with it.<br/><br/>Whilst this weapon can reach respectable levels of damage if you invest heavily into DEX and use the weapon-art to buff it, the buff is so incredibly short-lived (even shorter than BAS in DS2) and is so difficult to use mid-combat (about as fast as BAS buff in DS2, but combat is so much faster that this is no longer good enough) that the weapon is rendered highly unreliable. This, combined with the weapon's incredibly short range (possibly even shorter than the Black Blade) results in a very mediocre Katana.<br/><br/>If you like the idea of outputting lots of Bleed with a Katana, go for the Chaos Blade. If you like the idea of trading some health for more power, go with the Chaos Blade.<br/><br/>One of the reasons that the BAS was "usable" in DS2 was because the buff lasted a lot longer, around 30~40 seconds, which gave you more time to attack with it, increasing the efficiency of the health:damage tradeoff when using the buff, if you could attack enough during the buff's duration it would become more efficient than the Chaos Blade in terms of health lost for damage done. With Bloodlust in DS3, this just isn't possible, you can't possibly attack enough during the buff's short duration to make this weapon more efficient than the Chaos Blade. The BAS also had a varied moveset, composed of a mix of Katana and Halberd attacks, giving it a lot of variety, and also had extremely long range (almost beating the Washing Pole). Bloodlust has none of that stuff, it just has a standard Katana moveset, and extremely poor range.<br/><br/>If you see someone use the buff in PvP, you can very easily wait it out as it only lasts 10~15 seconds. You can very easily force a trigger-happy opponent to bring themselves to the brink of death by repeatedly denying them any attempt to make use of the buff in combat, just dodge around their attacks and they're effectively trading large chunks of their own health for 0 bonus damage.<br/><br/>This weapon is a hot contender for "worst in class" for Katanas and desperately needs a significant increase in the duration of the buff for it to become usable in any environment, increasing the speed of the buff animation would also be welcome.

                            If you perfom the Seppuku and hit an ennemy BEHIND YOU, you wont recive the damage buff and you will have an animation cancel. You will also receive the bleed damage and the 8% of you life. (i can comfirm wiht many tests)
