Brigand Twindaggers are a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

These paired daggers are the preferred weapons of the brigands of a distant land.

When two-handed, the wielder holds a blade in each hand, allowing for divergent attacks that include left-handed moves.

Skill: Quickstep
Instantly step behind or around the side of foes. Especially effective when locked on to target.

Notes and Tips:

  • Can be Infused and Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Titanite.
  • All weapons have motion values assigned to each attack, which are modifiers to AR that are associated with the attack being used.
    • The Brigand Twindaggers have a motion value of 375 on backstab, 450 on riposte, and 75+437.5 on Hornet Ring riposte. The motion value of a backstab with a dagger does not change with Hornet Ring.
    • This means that aside from a difference in AR, no infusion is strictly better for ripostes, as all infusions will get the same motion value, with the only difference being AR. Use whatever infusion will net the most damage for the best results.
    • Note that Dark damage does not benefit from Hornet Ring in PvP.
  • When paired, this weapon has incredibly synergy with the Pontiff Eye Rings and similar effects.
  • A good PvP combo for this weapon is R1+L1+L1.
  • The Brigand Twindaggers have a range 23.5671xl on the 1h R1 and 24.614xl on the 2h L1.
  • The Weapon Skill Quickstep can be used to lessen the recovery frames of any attack.
  • Compatible with Legion Etiquette gesture when equipped on left hand.

I'm loving this as a 2nd mainhand weapon. Switch to it for monster backstabs (the 125 crit is sexy). I was gonna get the Farron GS for the dagger riposte but found it better to mainhand Flamberge or Wolf Knight's or whatever your preferred bonk and switch to this when you fight something you need fast attack or is easily backstabbable. Only 2.5 lb's so you can play as fast or heavy without hard switching weapons. It's pretty fugging lovely.

These are way too fun to use. I have em on a Thorfinn cosplay alongside a bunch of throwing knives and their damage is really good (sharp build 54 dex). Roll catches for days with the R1 and awesome L1 combos. Just be careful of one thing: never press L1 three times against a player, the third one is parriable out of hitstun.

I want your opinions, these or caestus for melting people in PvP with enchants? Damage, roll catches, perserverence vs. quickstep, what would you go for overall. I'm leaning toward these for their R1>L1>L1, but I'm torn because of how useful a quick perserverence is.

          • Anonymous

Pathetic base damage plus pretty good scaling and a second weapon equals excellent DPS and a surprisingly fun and capable PVP weapon for a dex build. Give it a try!

            • Anonymous

Budget Bloodborne on PC: Use this weapon while running cheat engine in the background to set global speed to something like 1.15x. It's really fun, trust me

              • Just did a pontiff+old wolf sword Regen build and I can say that with quickest, one of the fastest dps in the game and high critical damage, they make great weapons for quick dps builds

                • Anonymous

I infused these with a Sharp gem and used them during my playthrough. They're incredibly fun and OP af once you master them. A few things I've learned: never start combos with L1. Your combo should be one R1 followed by L1 spam. It's much faster that way. Another thing is that you can cancel the recovery frames of Quickstep with an R1! This is so fast that it allows you to land quick hits WHILE dodging a boss combo! Get the 2 Pontiff Eyes, the Old Wolf Curved Sword and you can maintain their buffs by doing this. Twindaggers are the best weapon in the game for those items. If you're into pyromancies, Carthus Beacon or Power Within stack with the Rings and Sword as well. Also remember to use resins because they are busted on this weapon due to its attack speed. The resins increase the total AR of the Twindaggers by 35% - 40% whereas for example the AR increase on sth like a Greatsword is only 15% - 20%.

                  • Anonymous

I've been using brigand daggers in my offhand as kind of a fast backup for my main weapon, Farron Greatsword. I have it infused for blessed, which gives it A not B in faith, and its literally stronger than any other infusion for current 30/30 dex/faith build. I got it mostly just to have extra HP regen, but its for some reason extremely good

                    • Anonymous

If you ever see a brigand twindagger summon sign outside of demon prince, summon them. The boss will be dead in two minutes tops.

Hello DS3 player, I am come to you for a little favour, and I will carry this message to everywhere in DS3 community.
There is a glitch that allows you to summon white sign mad phantom in Gael’s Arena (Credit to Dashingsaint), if you keep Shira alived while she invade you (you can escape her simply sprint out her aggro range), you won’t trigger gael boss cutscene, and then you could put down you purple summon white sign or summon other white purple.
Thus, a new fight club is founded, an arena in a long lost dessert under the sunset sky which sprinkle with fainted galaxy.
If you’re watching this, kindly please help me share this and invite any ds3 enthusiast you known to this new fight club, your little effort would be much appreciated.
                        SL25+2, SL40+4, SL60+6, SL72+8, SL90+10, SL125 Meta, SL 351++, all SL range are acceptable.
Welcome to the Gael’s Sunset Arena, the most beautiful map in the entire series, the last arena at the End of World.
I will await you there, in the End of the World, and we shall fight eternal, shiny and incandescence.

This weapon plus Iron Flesh is an unusually good combo. You can tank hits easily and deal back massive damage. Quickstep also allows you to dodge without worry. This playstyle counters tryhards heavily

                          • Anonymous

This dagger is pure bliss, i have it Sharp Infused +10 and it deals over 2000 damage on a full L1 combo, i don't have the DLCs otherwise i would test to see if it deals higher damage than Murky Hand Scythe's full dual-handed R1 combo, if someone can test this, please tell me the results in the replies.

                            • Anonymous

I made a Thorfinn cosplay with these and invaded for a while. It was really fun, fast roll combined with quickstep and fast attacks made me very slippery and gankers had a hard time landing even a single hit on me, and between all the rolls and quicksteps I can still land attacks consistently thanks to the speed of the weapon.

                              • Anonymous

                                Step 1: blood gem @@@ Step 2: 40 luck @@@ Step 3: upgrade +10 @@@ Step 4: L1, L1, L1, L1 @@@ Step 5: enjoy :)

                                • Started my daggers-only run yesterday, and I can safely say I've found my ride-or-die baby. At 25 D*x when Sharp infused, a full 100 stamina bar L1 spam emptied into Crystal Sage for 750 damage without buffs. Trying again with a fire Bundle (phase 2 stunlocked me oof), I did ~1100 damage and STILL HAD SOME STAMINA BEFORE HE TELEPORTED AWAY.

Later on, I killed Vilhelm with them, applying poison resin and then cheesing him with the aggro range tactic to apply it. The L1 spam did around 400 damage without actual damage buffs, and a backstab while he was healing was another 350 damage (still at 25 D*x).

They're like mini Sellswords, and easily the best DPS weapon for a daggers run. I was worried I'd end up just using Bandit's Knife the whole time, but I'm so glad to have the opportunity to break that monotony.

Only dumb fat Casuls would use such a trash weapon!
                                    PKCS is so much better!
Real Pros and skilled players only ever use PKCS, the best weapon gaming history!

Is this a good weapon to carry to the end of the game? is that I wanted a quickstep gun early.

A Chaos Dagger, with 18 STR, 18 DEX, 30 INT, and 30 FTH has an AR of 334

The Backstab Motion Value of the Dagger is 390. 390% of 334 is 1302.6.

Chaos Brigand Twindaggers with the same stat investment have an AR or 343

The Backstab Motion Value of Brigand Twindaggers is 375. 375% of 343 is 1286.25.

If my understanding is correct, Chaos Brigand Twindaggers, with this setup, do 16.35 less damage than a Chaos Dagger on a Backstab.

Do with this information what you will.

The fact that this has quickstep lets it pair well with iron flesh and the fact that it has by far the highest damage per second out of all the quickstep wpns makes this IMO the best dagger not to mention it has 125 on critical attacks. I suggest using a dex build stopping at 40 to spare pts for attunement which is needed to cast iron flesh and spam quickstep. Alternatively some players go for a bleed build and focus only on luck which is better for pvp but useless vs pve bleed immune enemies.

I like these. More for PvE than PvP, but I like them. Their DPS potential when buffed is significant, Quickstep is so good in PvE, and many mobs can be stunlocked by them.

Try infusing them with sharp gems and leveling up dex to 40 i tried it on a new account and the dps is quite good

Not a lot of love for these guys in the comments, but I'm liking them. Once you start Quickstepping, its hard to go back to a weapon without it, and the R1/R1/L1 combo with decent Endurance is a bladestorm for days. Have overwhelmed a few invaders with furious stunlocks/panic spams. Have had no problem with them in PVE either except for a few bosses that require a bit of range to handle (Nameless King mainly). Plus a massive bonus to Fashion Souls make these a winner in my book. At the end of the day, go with what you like! Would recommend for anyone who likes daggers and doesn't obsess over min/max.

why the ***** do all duel wield weapons have a 2 hit l1 combo except the dagger and rapier???? why do paired ultras have better combos than daggers :(

for those who don’t know about paired weapon’s L1 , when you use L1 , the auxiliary effect such as bleed/poison have a debuff , this reason is to not be able to apply bleed/poison of 320 unit per second for luck build , it is insanely too OP , so to balance that , when you use the L1 of a paired weapon , the auxiliary effect deals about 25% less per weapon hit , so , if your grave warden twinblade have 50 bleed , they both loose 12.5 bleed on thier L1 , even before informing myself about this , i noticed it wasn’t doubled bleed

WRONG info in this page. This is not the best dagger for bleeding, even infused, except if you think about the double combo from the l1 attack… Bandit's knife is better thanks to its innate bleeding.

                                                            • Anonymous

Um... there s no numbers for bleed or poison anywhere so how are we supposed to know if this is the best for bleed

These weapons got a nerf for the Refined infusion; even though the letters on the scaling show an increase, the infusion actually only makes them worse in every regard by reducing scaling and base damage from what the base weapon provides. Sharp infusion is now the only reasonable choice, and these still work very well with buff spells, resin, and carthas rouge. In PVP they require a lot of skill. Opponents with fast weapons will out-damage you when trading attacks often, and slow weapons with poise frames mean you have to time your attacks very precisely. Judging your opponent's stamina usage and recovery is key to finding opportunities to strike. Over-reliance on Quick Step can result in your opponent catching the Instability Frames that occur after each Quick Step if you just spam it and become predictable. The twindaggers certainly require a very aggressive strategy, but if you aren't able to out-think your opponent, you'll find yourself parried, out-spaced, or just out-damaged.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • I love these daggers. If you want to do real style damage you have to use these! The fashion is overpowering and the double slash is really cool! Sure, you may die…

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

Sick combo. Sharp gives A dex scaling so it grows with your character build. Best weapon to spend all of your big titanite on as you find it. • Anonymous

Maybe these but my plan is to backstabbing bleed and poison so idk any ideas welcome!

                                                                              • Anonymous

For anyone who wants to use these weapons on a build, take my advice. These weapons are best with either 60 faith or intelligence, as the physical damage is low, and you can further increase their power on a Flynn build like I did. HOWEVER, and this is big, these weapons do NOT have a connecting second attack with the L1 like other twin weapons. All combinations of attacks into an L1 (except maybe a charged R2 into an L1) will not connect if your opponent mashes the dodge button, effectively making the extra elemental damage almost useless. While they are fast, the absolute poor range against the increasing usage of hyper-armor weapons, in my experience, make this weapon extremely niche. Cool and fun to use, but ultimately needs a poise damage buff in order to connect the L1 attacks.

                                                                                • Anonymous

I have a question that might have already been answered but I am still unsure what the answer is.
Do the Twindaggers have a L1 combo like other twinweapons? I have been trying all sorts of things to try and get one full combo with the L1 and anyone can just roll out of the first hit. Whether it is R1 into L1 or just L1 to L1, I cannot get the second hit to connect.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Actually no these are the best freaking buff weapon in the game. For whatever reason, the daggers l1 loses less buff damage per hit than sellsword or warden's l1. Every other button is as expected - r1, r2, and unbuffed are considerably weaker on brigand than on sell sword; criticals are stronger on brigands because of dagger class - but with CMW brigand does 2x 198 to sellsword's 2x 190. And you have Quickstep, and the l1s come out fast enough to do a full three-l1 combo. 1188 on a Lothric Knight with pre-reqs met, and still 810 without. Don't let the listed AR fool you, these things are an absolute beast in mobility *and* straight damage numbers with a buff.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Anyone *****ing about how these aren't good in pvp go watch praise the Suns video on them, when you get used to the play style you can punisH everything massively

                                                                                      • Don't infuse daggers! It may say it gives better scaling but the scaling actually goes down, not to mention the base damage. It must be a bug in the game... or an intentional glitch to make daggers less powerful. The only good way to use daggers is to apply a buff with a high int/faith stat and rely on that for your damage while using the quickstep to avoid attacks.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

This weapon works especially good with weapon buff like cyrstal magic weapon in PVP. Since it doesn't scale much from STR/DEX, you don't have to waste your skill points on them. It can deal with most weapons especially UGS but can't do anything against curved swords and straight swords because they can simply use R1 R1 to catch your quick step and you have no way to punish them. I have already shut down many fight clubs with this weapon.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

In PVE this weapon is pretty good : fast, high critical, good weapon art for avoiding enemies' attacks. However in PVP they suck a lot : too much poor damage and too much poor reach (with everybody using greatsword/ultra greatsword you can't even go near them); they even don't stuck with bleed efficently.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Idk who balanced these, but twin daggers, dont scale well with dex, dont bleed, dont have reach and dont break poise, trying to doa dagger playthrough and on pve these can be really underwhelming. Even with bleed, most enemies with big health pools seem to resist bleed anyway, so unless you stack on a ton of luck, these are pretty useless for bleeding. Other elemental buffs work much better. Still really underwhelming compared to the fun i had with my dagger-assassin playthrough in dark souls 1 back in the day.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Anyone else notice the fact the twindaggers look just like the Black Knight weapons (sans the sword)? It has the same goldish desgin on its blade and hilt as the BKGS, BKGA, and BKG. This is very possibly just a dumb coincidence, but it could be that Black Knights were planned to have variants wielding daggers, most likely for parrying. While this is supported with little evidence I think this is a fun theory that could have been a cool thing to see in game.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

These things do well with buffs. They attack fast and use little stamina. They're especially good for quick, armorless enemies that attack fast cause you can hit them faster

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

two handing one handed daggers makes a first estoc attack which counterbalances the low reach of the weapon. not posible with this one, and easily parryable (not that much danger for opponent to give it many tries due to very low damage)yet i think it has potential in pvp, try R1-L1 as the R1 is faster to hit

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

But they're actually very good for applying status effects and bleed, at least on a luck build. Because of their low damage they're not really meant to be main weapons I think, but they have a definite use for putting on the pressure with quick step.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

I've been using these daggers throughout the game, while they are very weak one can stunlock enemies for exceptionally long periods of time. Though these daggers have their uses, I feel like they aren't much of a primary weapon for a DEX build as one will often find themselves taking too much time to take down an enemy. The main deal breaker for me however isn't their attack damage, it is the low crit modifier. The normal "dagger" has a crit modifier of 130, while these have 110 and this is a very noticeable difference. In a brief test at 25 DEX, I found a +3 dagger to crit for 430-470 dmg, while these at +4 only hit around 320-360 dmg on the same target. (not an exhaustive test, but the results suggest further testing would not yield a different conclusion) It's a real letdown that these daggers are capable of creating so many opportunities to land a good backstab, and yet deliver mediocre crit damage potential.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Quickstep is faster and shorter than a dodge and seems to have more immunity frames relative to it's duration making it better for dealing with bosses that require a lot of close quarters combat but suck to block.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

With the stunlock potential in both PVP and PVE and the speed of the L1 spam, it's amazing to put bleed or poison on people. Hillarious to watch hosts and phantoms alike panic and use up their estus supplies when their health is just slowly ticking down.

Fast striking, low dmg weapons benefit the most from static buffs. This weapons base dmg is weak perhaps to balance the benefit from a static increase. For ex, on my lvl 30, fire buffed daggers +0 AR = 170. My +3 long sword is 190, roughly. I have 18 str n 22 dex. The daggers L1/LB atk is atleast 2x as fast, so numerically the atk can dish out more AR than LS R1/RB spam(cant say dmg bc i havent tested, and i dont know the potency of phy def n elem def when reducing smaller split dmgs). Traditionally, you have to buff daggers to make em strong. Find the right buff, the right imbue, or a mix of both n these might be viable.

The 2 biggest reasons to use these after testing for a bit. Having 2 dodges/gap closer and the ability to stunlock for a really long time since it doesnt use much stamina.

Anyone else got this?
