Caitha's Chime is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Sacred chime blessed by Caitha, goddess of tears.

Rare even amongst Carim clerics. Affected by intelligence, a rare thing for miracle catalysts, and also agreeable with miracles that lean towards the Dark. Its existence is concealed in the name of the Archbishop, as it is anathema.

Skill: Gentle Prayer
Recovers HP for a period of time, albeit extremely slowly. Works while equipped in either hand.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Can only cast Miracles.
  • Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
  • Dark miracles cast with this chime will scale with both Intelligence and Faith up to a 45/45 softcap. Dark miracles cast with any other chime will scale only with Faith up to 60, and will deal only less damage.
  • Contrary to this chime's description, its Intelligence scaling only applies to dark miracles and will have no effect on miracles that deal lightning or physical damage
  • When casting normal miracles with this chime, only the Faith scaling is considered and its softcap is at the normal amount of 60 Faith.
  • The chime has to remain active in your hand for the weapon art to continue regenerating health.
  • At 60 INT and 60 FTH it has a spellbuff of 312.

Location/Where to Find

  • Lothric Castle
    • Start at Dragonslayer Armor Bonfire
    • Go back towards the entrance to the bossfight and turn left. Before you should be a chapel with an elevator in it
    • Enter the chapel, then go up the first flight of stairs within
    • Turn left to find an open doorway and use it to exit the chapel
    • Once on the balncony, turn left to see a break in the guard rail
    • Very slowly walk off the balcony through the break. Fall damage in Dark Souls 3 scales with your maximum HP, therefore a higher amount of HP is not required, however the Silvercat Ring and the Spook sorcery will help if you are not interested in taking fall damage.
    • Upon landing, turn left and make your way to the end of that section of roof. You have a very small drop to make. It should not cause fall damage. Drop down.
    • Pick up Caitha's Chime from the corpse on that ledge.

Trivia:

  • When using Caitha's Chime with Lightning Arrow, the 'bow' part of the model can be misaligned.

What's even the point of this and sunless talisman? both of the ranged dark miracles deal low damage, and the point of them is the bleed anyway, and even that doesn't scale differently with this, and dark blade doesn't scale with int, so it's always better to cast it with yorshka's chime. The only somewhat designed use of this would be to boost lifehunt scythe's damage, and even that is not even all that great. So you waste one of 15 slabs in the game on this, just to boost the damage of only a single mediocre spell, and that's it, thanks Miyazaki.

When I tried to fight nameless king as a pyromancer, I thought it would be smart to use yorshka's chime with the miracle you get for killing soul of cinder to get past phase 1

cut to a few playthroughs later, I see a loading screen that has caitha's chime as the description

now I feel like a total idiot

fall damage isn't a fixed number, it's always dealt in percentage of your maxhp+30% from ember. Whoever wrote "The fall will cause about 741 damage", fix that.

I just realized that this thing has the strongest spellbuff of any Chimes when at 60Int 60Fth. Came here to check it out and apparently it's already known. Shows what I know. I underestimated this chime. Always thought Yorshka's is the best, but that's pure Fth. Might give it a try.

Damn. I remember wrecking giant lord in 10 hits with this and great resonant soul back in DS2. Now it's useless because they decided to make miracle hexes weak except maybe dorhys(but the good thing about that spell is the bleed anyway, not the actual damage)

              • Anonymous

too bad dark miracles suck for damage no matter what, except dead again but good luck ever finding a real situation to use it.

                • I keep seeing people mention Lifehunt Scythe or Gnaw but don't forget about Undead Again! If you want to troll an invader: Go to Pontiff > kill the Silver Knights > kick their dead bodies into a pile of 3 > come off as a kind friendly host using "Toast" gesture, bowing, drop items on the corpses, maybe drop some prism stones > wait for the invader (hopefully you don't run into a bloodthristy aldrich that only wants to murder) to stand on the bodies > and caste it to do insane, one-shot type (on 60/60 and probably 45/45) damage on the poor unsuspecting victims hahaha!

So many misinforming comments for chimes. Caitha's chime is ONLY good over other chimes for dark miracles. If you have a 45/45 or even a 30/30 int/faith build this chime out performs all others with specifically 2 spells. Lifehunt sythe and dorothy's gnawing. That's it. Best chime for 45/45 builds is crystal chime. Even thought the scaling is listed at a C/C and Caitha's is a A/A with higher spell buff. All lightning miracles using the crystal chime outperform all other chimes or talismans at 45/45.

despite the A/A scaleing at +5 and high spell buff of 253 at 45/45 int faith. spells like gnaw and dorhys' gnawing cap at 30/30 in terms of dark damage according to soulsplanner, while lifehunt scythe scales all the way up to 45/45. this makes this chime borderline useless since only two spells really work with it and both are mediocre to begin with paired with no unfaltering prayer WA makes sunless talisman slighty more useful than this chime best to just throw this in the item box with the rest of the clutter. good concept but god awful execution.

Seriously, why can't this thing cast sorceries? It would make the oh so dreadful experience as a hexer way easier... Also it feels like it should have Unfaltering Prayer

                        • Anonymous

Oh, yeah, it's so useful to have a chime that buffs dark miracles! Now all we need is a dark miracle that actually does damage in PVP! Congrats, From, on making Dead Again useless and not bringing back the Resonant Soul spells.

Caitha's Chime acutally heals more than Crytal Chime with healing miracles. Using Heal Aid for easy testing on 40/40 int & Faith character, +5 Caitha's Chime heals 248 HP while +5 Crystal Chime heals 237 HP.

The wiki states that physical and lightning dmg is nog affected, but does anyone know if the intelligence scaling applies to healing or no?

I'm not sure where people are getting the "useless dark miracles" from, but I'm on NG+++ with 60 INT and 60 FTH, and when I use DGnaw with Caitha's Chime, it melts bosses' faces, and larger enemies for that matter. The ONLY real weakness of dark miracles is massed enemies/hordes.

At 40 int and 40 faith, this chime outdamages the sunless talisman on Lifehunt Scythe and Dorhys' Gnawing. Tested on the firekeeper.

FYI, make sure you aren't using this thing to buff your weapon with Dark Blade, as explained in the comments on that miracle's page: https://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Dark+Blade

isn't a bit useless to give it gentle prayer if it's a combat specific chime, why not give it unfaltering prayer? well I guess it doesn't matter since hexes are garbage in this game

This is wrong life hunt scythe does like 200 more damage when cast with caithas over clerics sacred at 45 FTH 45 INT

                                        • Anonymous

Without the GRS Miracle, this catalyst has little purpose.I truly hope they bring back the GRS in the DLC and all the fun/infamous hexes that made Hexers OP in DS2. That or some new dark miracles, like a dark lightning spear or something.Live and hope.

                                          • Anonymous

This chime is the best chime to cast hexes with, since it has an A scaling with INT and FTH.Furthermore, it's actually the best chime/talisman to buff dark/lightning with since it has the highest spell buff attribute.

                                            • My Caitha's Chime has a spell bonus value of over 200. Since only the total is shown (base+scaling) and that total is heavily influenced by stats or a lack thereof, I'm thinking maybe showing it here might be a tad impractical.
