Dark Sword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Pitch-black straight sword of the Darkwraith, survivor of the land swallowed by darkness.

The Darkwraiths were the first red orb invaders, and originators of a unique sword technique inspired by their thick, broad blades.

Skill: Stomp
Use one's weight to lunge forward with a low stance and increased poise, and follow with strong attack for an upward slash.

Notes and Tips:

Can be Infused and Buffed.
Reinforced with Titanite.
All weapons have motion values assigned to each attack, which are modifiers to AR that are associated with the attack being used.
- The Dark Sword has a motion value of 200 on backstab, 250 on riposte, and 60+225 on Hornet Ring riposte. The motion value of a backstab with a straight sword does not change with Hornet Ring.

The Dark Sword has a range of 35.0199xl on the 1h R1 and 34.6102xl on the 2h R1.
The Dark Sword has a unique, vertically slashing R2, both 1h and 2h.
The only straight sword in the game to have the Stomp Weapon Skill.
When infused with a Dark Gem, it will be called a "Reinforced Dark Sword" instead of "Dark Dark Sword."
There is a glitch where a Dark-infused Dark Sword could be buffed with Dark Blade, which some dubbed a Dark Dark Dark Sword.

The Farron Keep Perimeter Bonfire is next to two Darkwraiths that will wander into and fight a group of Ghru. If left to play out the Darkwraiths will usually survive with minimal HP - this allows the player to farm them with little risk.

  In my first playthrough 4 years ago I farmed these dudes for hours to get a single sword, now I'm farming the Darkwraiths for pale tongues and I get like 3 dark swords for every tongue. RNG is insane.

  Offhand estoc, reclub and handaxe combo into uncharged R2. The estoc combo is particularly interesting as the sword doesn't have a poke move... Yeah, heavy estoc ftw!

  When DS3 first came out this sword was THE meta.
  
  The AR on it was legitimately broken - PvE was a joke if you sword-and-boarded your way through the game and PvP was more or less just as easy.

  It's easy to misjudge someone as calling him a noob or an edgelord just for using this sword and thinking he ll spam that r1 with huge range like... Pretty much every ss user in the game.
  
  Then the misjudge gets corrected when an actual pro smacks your chin and forehead with the r2 the whole match, only using the r1 when 2 handed. It really shows whoever truly understands the weapon can deal amounts of damage that rivals ugs users.

  If u want to get some soul and dark set early, farm the guy guarding the coal in the farron keep since he is the easiest to kill and give 2500 soul. Don't need to fight him, just lure him into a bunch of slugs near the wall. If you're lucky, he will kill most of those slugs and die. If you're not, lead him to any single slug you see on your way. That dude kills everything for u, gives u his soul and all the equipments. Man, he is such a good friend!

  This thing with a dark infusion is a freaking beast at late game..
  I had LKS until NG+8 and i thought it was really good.
  But the dmg when u got alot of stats on all 4 Str,Dex,Int,Faith is reallt skyrockeging compared to any other SS.
  It consumes little more Stam , but the Dmg is worth it.Like with 30 End i do 7 attacks with LKS and with Dark Sword 6.

  It has an S Faith scaling with blessed gem instead of A. I’m not sure if this was after an update or something but just thought I’d point it out. It’s actually pretty good with blessed gem. I’m using it, the Ancient Dragon Greatshield, and the sun princess ring. I love my hp Regen build haha

  I'm sad that this swords dark dark name would never function in my language. In my language it's called "Finsterschwert" and the Gem is called "Dunkler Edelstein" if you infuse the gem into this sword, it'll be a "Dunkles Finsterschwert" which means Dark Darksword but isn't nearly as funny as it's English infusion. Oh German you poor translating language...

(to end the glitch) And once i died i kid you not , i received 3 dark sigils (now my total dark sigil = 8....like wft) AND a ''REINFORCED DARK SWORD +99''.   Why is the dark sword hated in some parts of the community? It has very wide windows for counter, and has a fair AR range for its class.

  Pretty sure this weapon comes with innate lag to opponent. Just R1 spam and get an almost guaranteed 4 hit combo without any skill. More skilled players can learn spacing to get better with this weapon. By spacing I mean getting a shield and walking backwards until the enemy is just in range, for you to attack, but they are not in range to attack and cannot parry, due to the innate lag bonus. In fact they usually cannot roll either, because of the hit preceding the animation, due to innate lag status effect.
