Farron Ring

farron ring

A ring given to Undead Legion of Farron. Reduces Skill FP consumption.

The Abyss Watchers, for their hunting, required a sword technique that went beyond any existing art. Wolf's blood provided just that, and this ring further extends the effect.

Farron Ring is a Ring in Dark Souls 3.

Farron Ring Effect

  • Reduces Skill FP consumption by up to 25%
  • Weight: 0.8

Trivia

  • Although this ring is described to enhance the Abyss Watchers' specific fighting style, the fact that the Farron Greatsword does not require any FP for its entire moveset (including the swinging L1 and the parrying dagger) makes this ring quite illogical in a gameplay perspective. It's possible that this ring was developed very early on in the game's development and when the changes were made to the Farron Greatsword's moveset, they forgot to change the description.

lmao what a piece of dogshit ring in the game full of dogshit rings, 2-3 fp saved is definitely a life saver guys

      • Anonymous

He wont give the ring to me.
I just killed AByss watchers and put cinders on throne, and this guy does not give me any ring.
he just has some regular dialogue and thats it

        • Anonymous

**** you mean "up to 25%"?? Does it depend on how much attunement i have? Does it depend on the weapon art? Explain.

          • Anonymous

"Acquired by talking to Hawkwood after defeating the Abyss Watchers and placing their Cinders on their throne."

That's only partly correct, you only need to talk to him after defeating the Abyss Watchers and he will give you the ring.

You don't need to place their cinders on the throne first.

Yeah well it lets me use cool weapon arts more, so I like it. I'm going to use the bad ring anyway. So there

You can use weapon skills with only half of the full FP cost. This ring does in fact lower the minimum required FP, and surprisingly the numbers are rounded in your favor. For example, War Cry on the Large Club costs 20 FP, meaning you only need 10 to use it, and with the -25% cost from the ring it should cost 7.5 FP, but you only need 7 instead of 8. This allows for a pretty nice synergy with simple infusions as you only need to wait a few seconds with an empty FP bar to use a weapon skill again

Just to let everyone know the reason the Faron ring doesn’t affect the Faron sword is because it states in the description that it is used for there hunting swords not there war swords so probably wolf blood curved sword

From could have made this ring twice as good, reducing FP by 50% instead of 25% and it STILL wouldn't be used very often by players. Not a terrible ring, but certainly not good. Even on a build where you use weapon arts often you'd probably be better off using a random generic ring like Hornet Ring, Sun Princess Ring, Chloranthy Ring, or Life Ring.

I think for hawkwood to give/drop this ring, you must exhaust all his previous dialogue, with the last line referring to gaining admission to the undead legion. If you kill the abyss watchers before said dialogues, you screwed up his questline as if he didn't meet you at all.

Originally, farron gs's weapon art was the only stomp that followed up with a stab, hence the former utility of this ring.

It would make more sense for the ring to belong to artorias, he still used wolf's blood, but his sword uses FP.

the fact that the Farron Greatsword does not require any FP for its entire “moveset (including the swinging L1 and the parrying dagger) makes this ring quite illogical in a gameplay perspective”. big BS

I think you need to have killed Deacons for this ring, ive killed watchers but he doesnt give me the ring yet and tells me to kill the deacons.

It really doesn't do much if you have all your estus flask shards. Melee build who needs more weapon arts? Just assign more Fp estus. Sacrificing a heal or two for your Fp is worth it if you know how to not get hit by attacks. On a typical melee only build, I'll go 12-3 or 10-5. Worth a try, but this ring is pretty useless when you can afford Fp regen. My guess is to use it at low-sl, which is why it's an early game reward

this ring sounds good on paper but it is actually pretty useless. the decrease in fp used is miniscule for most weapons unfortunately

                                  • Anonymous

Note that while the ring works as intended and reduces weapon art FP costs by 25%, that change is not reflected in in the item/equipment menu. Meanwhile, the Dusk Crown Ring - which has the same effect for spells, pyromancies and miracles - will display the new FP cost in all menus while equipped.

It also reduces the stamina consumption of the Wolf Knight Greatsword's weapon arts, might do it to others as well.

When I started playing this game I was like, this guy needs to die because he's kinda negative and sorta just insulted me.

Though it says Wepon Skills, I've found that it doesn't affect the Storyteller's Staff any when using it's WA.

someone needs to add that you have to put the cinders of a lord onto the throne before talking to hawkwood

                                            • Anonymous

You need to exhaust all the dialogues before you get the ring from Hawkwood. (You need to complete the Abyss Watchers as stated above)

                                                Regarding Trivia
FP reduction used by people who dont uses fp. That has been bothering me for a while, dose anyone have an explanation why the devs did this?

                                                • i killed him early in the game. does that mean i cant get this ring? and therefore cannot get the all rings trophy? shiiiiit. that sucks. guess i wont get all trophies this play-through

                                                  • Anonymous

If your trying to get the ring early in game, You must kill The Curse-Rotted Greatwood aswell as the Abyss Watcher's, Killing Just the Abyss Watcher's will not net you the ring.

This ring was not given to me until after defeating the lords of cinder and returning them to their thrones.

He NEVER gave it to me in 2 playthroughs, no matter when and how often I talked to him!Abyss Watchers are NOT the trigger!!!

For most weapon arts this ring will net you ~1 more use per full FP bar, unless you have a massive FP pool for the savings to mount up over multiple uses in which case you might be able to tease out an extra 2 or 3 uses. But if you have a massive FP bar anyway why are you even using the ring, you already have enough FP. Plus, a lot of weapon arts don't really lose effectiveness from being at 0 FP, quickstep still functions, stance-guardbreak still works it just does less damage. What is the point.P O I N T L E S S

thats not true. I used the ring with heal, and heal costs 45 points instead of 50. So i guess it gives 30% fp reduction on weapon art, but only 10% fp reduction on spells?
