Fist & Claws are a type of Weapon in Dark Souls 3. These Weapons usually have similar movesets albeit with different skills and properties. Fists and Claws are often used as parrying tools, due to their fast parry frames.

Fists: Fist weapons have a faster light attack than Claws and a different rolling R1, but have shorter range and lack the innate Bleed Auxiliary effect that Claws have. Fist weapons are mostly used for Quality/Strength builds and due to their higher damage and considerably better Weapon Arts, they are usually favored over Claws.

Claws: Claws have a slightly slower light attack than Fist weapons but have considerably different movesets when two handed (the Crow Talons especially). Claws have greater range than the Fists and have innate Bleed. Claws are usually used on Dexterity/Luck builds.

 Notes & Trivia

  • When infused with a Refined Gem, the weapon name will not read as Refined, but instead it will show as Skilled. This is the only weapon class that does this. Something similar also happens with the Dark Sword; when infused with a Dark Gem, the text will read "Reinforced Dark Sword" instead of "Dark Dark Sword".
  • As of regulation 1.33, players who parry too early with these weapons will now take an instability hit.
  • When used in the off-hand, all the fist weapons (except the Dark Hand) offer the possibility to parry. But there are discrepancies in how fast the parry comes out after being chained-buffered into an attack beforehand: Video demonstration. They break in two groups in this regard:
    • Slow/normal parry timing after previous input: Caestus, Claw.
    • Faster than normal timing after previous input: Crow Talon, Demon's Fist and Manikin Claw.

How is it possible that fists and claws were faster in Dark Souls 2 (Easily one of the slowest paced games in the series) than in 3? Especially when Ds3 is little more than a bloodborne clone? Smh Fromsoft

All the claws are fun weapons, but all someone has to do is spam perseverance caestus and you won't be able to do patch squat

corvian greatknife +10 infused with sharp gem at 40+ dexterity AND buffed with lightning blade or crystal magic weapon does over 500 AR, so it pretty much makes all of these weapons useless, since they are slower, have less range since corvian greatknife is the longest dagger in the game, and also do less damage since the base damage for the claw and the caestus is 91 while the base damage for the corvian greatknife is 93

so is no one gonna talk about how pyromancy flame not being here even though it can actually work as a fist weapon with its 100+ flame damage, i mean i know pyromancy flame is probably the worst weapon to use like that and dark hand would just be straight up better, but if manikin claws is here, pyromancy flame DESERVE to be as well

Why do videogame companies hate fist weapons. There are a total of 3 actually punching weapons in this, and in fallout 4 and Skyrim, fist weapons are the only weapon typos to not be featured in the creation club

              • Multiple stamina consumption When you attack with a dagger (tested with corvian greatknife) and parry with a claw right after (tested with manikin claw) the parry will do 2/3 sets of stamina consumption. Pretty sure it does it with others but cant remember now- tested a while ago. Don't know if its intentional, but i'd say not with how much it uses

                • Currently, I'm challengeing myself to beat every souls game with only fist weapons, and this game has been the easiest so far. Fist weapons have come a long way since ds1, where they were complete A$$

bare fists scale with str and dex with cap at 40/40. Up to that point I was getting 2-3 damage per level and after 40/40 it changed to 0-1. Flynn's ring and Lloyd's ring both get you like 225 strike damage when naked and that is actually ok for bare fists

Has anyone pointed it out yet?

If you don't meet the requirements to wield any of the claw weapons the animation for the parry changes from "fist"-animation to a "small shield"-animation. The frames for the parry windows change aswell. tested it on enemies.

                      • We need bare fists information.
We need it so we can accurately visceral attack big enemies.
Try parrying the big crabs or Gundyr, and perform that viscous ripping attack.

Fist weapons aren't the only ones with different names than normal infusions. Dark swords with a dark gem are called refined dark swords

Sorry im a bit of a DS pleb, but is there any way to make a your bare fists stronger? If it works, is it STR or DEX that affects it? been thinking about messing around with it for fun.

If you equip the sword in one hand and claws in the other and then two hand the claws while having the sword behind your back, the claws get the effects of the sword (Pointiff's left and right eye) + they inflict bleeding.

I noticed it seems to have good scaling but haven't really looked into it since my first character was a sorcerer. I was hoping to find info here.

I got it through a NPC invader at Farron's keep around where a lot of toads looking enemies are, which curses you.

So there are giant crabs in the game, dark souls II had a crab claw fist, cmon why only 2 claws and 2 fists?
