Greatshield of Glory is a Shield in Dark Souls 3.

"A greatshield adorned with flowing patterns, a celebration of an ancient glory. Boasts the highest stability of such shields, but with reduced stamina regeneration speed. Perhaps it is glory that begets such indolence."

Skill: Shield Bash
Without lowering your guard, strike the enemy with the shield to knock them back or stagger them. Works while equipped in either hand.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused but can be Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
  • Decreases stamina regeneration rate by -20 while equipped.
  • When fully upgraded it has 85 stability, the highest in the whole game.
  • Casting Magic Shield on it when fully upgraded will bring it's stability to 100,
resulting in no stamina loss when blocking but elemental damage will chip through.
  • Compared to Havel's Greatshield +5 (80 stability) and this shield +5 (85 stability) the stamina
consumption is 25% less when blocking attacks with this shield.
  • This shield was used by the Drakekeepers of DS2.

Okay so, Moaning shield is just flatly better than this thing as someone who used this shield for years. You might lose like 2 less stamina when hit with this, but the reduced regen also applies to while you're guarding, so you end up with less stamina in the end

Great magic barrier puts this shield 100 to all elemants and 128 stability nothing is getting through it.
i run a 40 endurance build and with this i get 25 stamina a second add Chloranthy ring +3 i get 35 which is 10 less but who needs regen when you don't lose anything lol

Miyazaki's lamenting note on the franchise as a whole at this point.

I don't know if this is interesting or helpful to anyone but 2-handing this while blocking will tank the machine gun bow glitch without breaking your guard

At low SL this is the ultimate turtle. Magic Shield and Untrue Dark Ring, Lingering Dragoncrest Ring and maybe HORNET RING. I love to use it to protect people of filthy twinks, by being the filthiest of them all.

If you don’t care about the WA but care about the stamina reduction, going with the moaning shield is the better option.

You may think is rubbish, but you would be wrong. Get it, upgrade twice, slap on magic shield and you are totally immune to most attacks (they won't even drain stamina). Magic doesn't do much, had mages trying to use their lightsaber blades be quite ineffective. Lightning and scythes are your weakness, but few use the latter. Pair with a heavy longsword and go to town. Having so much fun invading at level 56. Also makes those enemies that do physical damage laughable. Bosses without elemental are a joke. It's good, real good.

"This shield was used by the Drakekeepers of DS2." Idiots, that shield from ds2 is quite different. This shield 's design comes from the tower shield from demon 's souls.

2 stability more than moaning, but with overall TERRIBLE resistances. On top of that -20 stamina regen. It's a terrible greatshield overall but sure I'll take it

                      • Anonymous

even when unupgraded if you 2hand this shield with regular magic shield it has 100 stability and no stamina drain when blocking

                        • Anonymous

Jeez -20 stamina regen? And Sellsword Luet *****in held 2 of these! Poor guy, hopefully had a chloranthy ring or something...

                          • Anonymous

I really like items like these that offer a good reward (Highest Stability shield in the game) but has a pretty severe drawback.

When I found this shield I immediately upgraded it and start using it but something felt off so I read the description... sigh. Yeah, the stamina regen reduction is pretty brutal imo. Even with the stamine ring+3 your regen is slower than normal.

Might as well use small weapons when equipping this shield E.g Falchion, Carthus curved sword etc.or use Chloranthy ring with Warpick/Pickaxe and green blossom. For aggressive players combine with Power Within for extra +30 stamina per second.

I think this shield was moved in fire fades edition because when I killed the mimic I just got a symbol of avarice

If you want to get around the stamina regen loss a bit then unequip the shield after putting a bit of distance in between you and your enemy, and put it back on when youve got your stamina back. Also no need for inventory, just press left on the d-pad for console and.... whatever... you do on computers. It may sound dumb unequiping your primary defense for a few seconds, but it's helped me so far

It's only a 20% decrease in stamina regeneration speed(tested).Whoever wrote 45%-50% was just talking out their ass without actually trying it.

                                      • Anonymous

Using Great Magic Shield with this causes you to lose 0 stamina when blocking. You even receive 0 damage from elemental attacks even though it doesn't have 100% resist in those.

                                        • Anonymous

every time I look for the raw numbers, majority of people say it's 20% of your stamina regen speed that's lost. maybe that's true... maybe not... but it's the best I can find. and I'd edit the page myself... if I had any clue how to do that. :(

This is apparently the Greatshield of Syan from Dark Souls 2 that goes by the same name. Strangely it was carried by certain Drakekeepers, who had their own Greatshield as well. https://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Greatshield+of+Glory

Struggling with those great shied + estoc scrubs who play that way because they can't git gud? Well I have something for you: poisonYou can easily get those people poisoned with a poison resin on your weapon, so just get some long/fast weapon that can be buffed. I don't know exactly what's the best way to poison people, but playing normally and hitting the shield has worked for me. The key here is patience. Once you have them poisoned, just stay away and watch them panic after a few seconds. Most of them don't have brains, but those few who do will try to take it of by eating some purple weed stuff (really rare) will have to open their inventory and find it, so stay alert for those players and get ready to go in if you see them stand still without holding their guard or anything. Sometimes one poison application won't kill them completely, but it's not too hard to make it happen again. If you use magic, there is a staff and a pyromancy that will make a cloud of poison, which will fu*k up these idiots pretty hard as well.

This thing is useless really, since players dont bounce back on shields. Its 'ok' in pve but theres better options like slayers and yhorms
