The hunters serve Lothric on the fringes and in the shadows. For generations, rulers of Lothric have relied especially upon the Black Hand hunters to punish enemies in ways that the king's Three Pillars cannot.

Trivia

  • The portrait of the hunter looks like one of the King's Black Hands.
  • Since Gotthard and Kamui are known to be two of the three Black Hands, it is possible (but not confirmed) that the corpse where you find the ring is the third assassin.
  • Assuming this is him, the circumstances of his death are pretty vague though, as always in Dark Souls. As pure lore speculation, the third assassin may have been tasked to eliminate the Heavenly Daughter Gertrude, considered as a heretic, whose prison cell is not far away. The three Winged Knights guarding the entrance of the cell (imprisoning their worshipped messenger) could be responsible for the Black Hand's death.
  • The overall silhouette of the Hunter's Ring resembles the aesthetic of the hunters from Bloodborne, which was released during development of DS3.

I notice that a lot of swappers are swapping to this ring for double swaps, does that have another benefit aside from the damage? Because Flynn’s or untrue rings would make more sense imo.

I only wish I didn't have to almost beat the whole game just to get a very minor dex buff for low/mid level pvp.

You guys this is clearly not a bloodborne reference it is an Eldin Ring easter egg! Eldin RING. Hunter's RING. Plain as day.

Sorry guys it's NOT a Bloodborne reference.

Is the image a reference to Bloodborne?

-No, it is worn by a group known as the Black Hand hence a Black Hand on the ring, and you can look up their armour set; it's a match.

You may ask but why is it called "Hunter's Ring" then?

-Well to quote from the game "Attire of hunters known as the King's Black Hands", with multiple other quotes saying they're hunters, and no this itself is not a reference, because the term "hunters" go back to previous Dark Soul games, even before Bloodborne.

So clearly not a reference, and yes they may obviously look alike, because maybe, just maybe; the game is made by the same people...

This is clearly NOT a Bloodborne reference, these hunters are just assassins. The only Bloodborne references in this game are the crucifixed dudes in Farron who became beasts due to the wolf's blood and Leonhard, just because he wears a tricorn and calls you a beast.

Y'all need to stop making***** up, take a bath.

There is evidence that you are the third black hand. Look for it on youtube but here is the sort of it., each lord has some one sent to kill them or someone hunting them. The Abyss Watchers had Hawkwood who bailed, Anir and Horace for Aldrich, and Siegfried for Yhorm. However that leaves the last lord with no one after him but you. The lady in lotheric church talks to you like she knew you and lied to you about there being no lords of cinder here and sends you the opposite way of your lord. So its not bloodborne its you, this isn't all of it but as I said look on youtube for the rest.

To those of you assuming that this ring has any relation to Bloodborne, need I remind you that Dark Souls did have hunters before Bloodborne. Forest hunters anyone? According to Pharis' hat it became sort of a hat design. So given that these hunters act as assassin's rather than bloodthirsty berserkers, I think it's safe to say it's not even a easter egg, much less a reference.

Not only does this look like a hunter from bloodborne but there are a lot of other references and items that have a bloodborne feel to them. Pontif's left eye (heals with hits) , black hand set , and many other things! I love bloodborne but it gets blatantly ridiculous sometimes.

Bloodborne and Dark Souls aren't in the same universe said Miyazaki. So this is just lore breaking and honestly ruins my enjoyment of this game... You cant have a bipolar universe setting, it makes no sense with what already little story there is in these games.
