Irithyll Straight Sword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.



Straight sword bestowed upon the Outrider Knights of the Boreal Valley. This weapon is enshrouded in frost, and causes frostbite.

Every Outrider Knight one day devolves into a beast, constantly hounded by Pontiff Sulyvahn's black eyes.

Skill: Stance
While in stance, use normal attack to break a foe's guard from below, and strong attack to slash upwards with a forward lunge.



Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
  • The sword causes Frostbite, and is also one of the few weapons that does so.
  • A decent early game that can carry you all the way until Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, since a lot of enemies early on have a weakness to Frost.
  • Irithyll Straight Sword +5 has 388 AR at 40 Strength and 40 Dexterity.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

        I never liked this weapon. It is just an ordinary straight sword that's sexy and causes frost. Would've been cool if the weapon art was you going berserk in a similar fashion the Outrider Knights do.

          great weapon even in late game. once upgraded to +5 its effective against almost any boss. solid damage against any enemy, and frost is great against enemies or bosses that are weak to it like dragonslayer armor or even soul of cinder. would recommend.

            I've noticed that it often does much much more damage than 11% im seeing almost 50% frost damage with vordts hammer and 30% on the straight sword.

              If you run up to the Outsider Knight and turn tail and lure him to the elevator and run across the button it'll leave a hole. He continues to charge you and will fall in. Boom done deal. Also I did that***** on accident cause I waltzed up like wassup I'm fresh from the thrift shop saw him was like nope he was chasing me but I was locked on just walking backwards and meant to just get on the lift but over shot it it went up I didnt and he was just like "This *****ing noon I can't even" and he killed himself and I got the sword

                Been playing with this sword since I got it lmao. I upgraded it to +5 and just finished killing Master Gundyr (killed all bosses before with that sword). You guys think this sword would help me till the end of the game out? Or should I upgrade another weapon

                  Seems pretty good if only for its ease of upgrading. You get it early, put all your twinkling titanite into it, and get it to +8 equivalent before the point where titanite chunks are readily available.

                    This weapon is exceptional, especially when duel wielded. Perfectly balanced for both PvE and PvP (of course, since it's a straight-sword). Its running attack is great for catching people off guard, and the rolling attack has a pretty good range. Overall a good weapon, however it doesn't have good heavy attacks, and the weapons art for it isn't too special.

                    (New Players):
                    Having trouble acquiring this weapon? Simply run past the Knight and open the door behind him. There is a bonfire on the other side, and you can use the doorway to employ guerrilla tactics until it has died :)

                      I nearly killed Slave Knight Gael solo yesterday with Vordt's great hammer and no shield but was a little too slow. I think I would get him with a faster weapon than Vordts, and it's either this or the rapier, I suppose....

                      Is this a good idea to use on him in NG?

                        If you use this offhand with pontiff scythe and armor set not only will you notice how impressive the combo is but the scythe weapon art will give you a classy cheap finish the the frost cloud rolls so it catches even milkring rollers

                          I love this sword, it is a good back-up weapon. I also noticed if one uses this sword with pontiff's right eye ring that frost status is easier to inflict on pve enemies, can anyone verify if this is true bc I actually hear an ice breaking sound when a get three consecutive hits on non-boss enemies ( I use turtle beach headset and play dark souls trilogy xbox one).

                                How is this weapon post-patch? Frost buildup just got a buff, so I'm curious. I know Vordt's Hammer is impressive now.

                                  I dont get it, this is literally the best weapon i have and i have 15 slabbed weapons and i have to go back to this thing to be completely effective, it swings as fast as the estoc with more damage and less stamina use.

                                    For pvp the damage is too low (tested with 40/40). Could come in handy if used it to inflict frostbite and then switch to a better weapon. That could be its niche in pvp I think. But I doubt frostbite is worth it. If people can land multiple hits they want usually the most damage out of it.
