Old Wolf Curved Sword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.


Curved sword bearing the soul of the old wolf that stays with the Watchdogs of Farron.

This sword, like a wolf on the prowl, boosts attack and restores HP with each consecutive hit.

Skill: Wolf Leap
Slice into foes with a large spinning motion, then leap out of harm's way and follow through with a strong attack.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
  • After two hits with the Old Wolf Curved Sword, you receive a buff that increases your consecutive attacks for a few seconds, or as long as you keep landing hits. Similar conditions apply as to the Pontiff's Right Eye Ring
  • When fully upgraded, after six consecutive hits you will gain 120 health. The window for these hits to land is longer than the time the attack buff remains active; estimated ten to fifteen seconds. Similar conditions apply as to the Pontiff's Left Eye Ring.
  • Both effects are also activated when landing hits with other weapons while the Old Wolf Curved Sword is equipped.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      After a ton of testing, I'm convinced this is superior to the Exile curved sword post 1.1 patch...after all the improvements to the curved great-sword class...superior range+Low stamina usage+Optimal weapon art (low stam, high range) and motion away from enemy+pontiffs ring effects+Pure *****in' fashion! Makes this the shiiiit!! AR is not nearly as much as Exile but it's more efficient for the wins. Also, AR seems less on paper than what I actually see in PVP...Can't explain it...maybe pontiffs kicking in?

        is this true? or is it that the combo ends if you attack and not hit an enemy? because 10-15 seconds is a LONG time and i have attacked one enemy with 4 hits (two attacks using twinswords) and then my 3rd attack (6 hits) does not heal me on the next enemy nearby.

          This weapon+Dancer's Swords' weapon art=Who needs to heal.
          (I used these two weapons against the Deacons of the deep and just doing the weapon art of the Dancer's Swords would heal me to maximum in about 4 attacks.)

            Old Wolf CGS + Hollowed Grave Warden's Twin Blades makes for one of the most ungodly DPS builds imaginable. I know Oni/Uba has higher AR, but the Grave Warden Twin Blades' move set, faster attack speed, WA, and status as Curved Swords (More reliable healing) puts the Oni/Uba to complete shame. Also, if one handing the Old Wolf CGS in the right hand while off-handing with the Grave Warden Twin Blades: you get parry, instead of the Oni/Uba's awful block. Oh, and as a bonus,: 3x Curved Sword fashionsouls.

              The WA has a lot of hyperarmor and it's great to trade with running attacks. However a sharp infused exile greatsword still deals considerably more damage on a dex build.

                Best combos for this:

                R1,R1,L2,R2 for high damage but there is actually a low chance of this fully hitting.

                R1,L2,R2 for lower damage but a higher chance of fully hitting.

                  if you initiate the weapon art without pressing R2, but instead do a jump attack immediately after (forward+R2) you can attack to an even further distance, without using focus points. this would work for pvp if they are backing away, (i presume), i thought id share this, i dont have internet myself so i want other people to have some fun at least...

                    If you manage to hit r1, r1 then the weapon art is also ALMOST ALWAYS a guaranteed hit. Also use this with Pontiffs right eye ring and wolf ring and you will win MOST trade hits with Ultra Greatswords. Haven't tested it out on great hammers and axes yet. -Tested all this out on knight-slayer Tsorig

                      I want to make build with pontiff eye rings to make sort of life drain build. My question is if i reinforce this sword to +10 or any lvl for that matter will the buff stack? i mean if i deal EVEN more dmg and heal myself from consecutive hits than if i leave it not reinforced? thx.

                        40 LCK, min 10 STR, min 18 DEX (25 DEX if you plan on actually using the Old Wolf Curved Sword as a weapon). Other stats as preferred (though 35-40 END recommended so you can continue attacking and make the most of the Old Wolf Curved Sword/Pontiff Rings' attack and regen bonuses). Hollow Warden Twinblades (don't go past +4 if you're low-level PvPing) in two-handed stance, with Old Wolf Curved sword in offhand. Use the Pontiff Left Eye and Pontiff Right Eye rings. Third and fourth ring slots are personal preference, though I use the Cloranthy Ring and Sun Princess Ring. If you're using Master's armor set, go for Flynn's Ring instead, perhaps. If you think you're going up against shield users in PvP, Knight Slayer's ring. Like I said, personal preference. Buff the Hollow Warden Twinblades with Carthous Rouge and you have one of the nastiest Bleed builds PLUS a ton of regen. Works in PvE and PvP equally well, though you need to be good at timing dodges in both cases. The build can make it so you barely need to heal in boss fights assuming you're not face-tanking everything.<br/><br/>Ideal combo is R1, R1, L1, L1, L2, R2. (Try not to get parried at the very beginning of this combo in PvP. That is the biggest risk of this aggressive build.) If you have 35+ END, you will still have enough stamina left for at least one roll or backstep.<br/><br/>Really fun high-risk, high-reward build that has both hard-hitting bleeds and a lot of regen assuming you have the opportunity to attack continuously.

                          be overaggresive never give your oppenent a chance to recooperate so i recommend you have max endurance (40) now sure the weapon art may go against this strategy but dont be afraid too use it one advantage this curved greatsword gives you that none of the others do is agility which is meant make up for the low damage after you use the weapon art immediatly rush to your enemy and close the gap with a running r1 having farron ring equipped wouldnt be a bad idea either because this gives you more agility and movement from the weapon art now for your off-hand you could have the grass crest shield for more stamina recovery or have a simple parrying dagger for more fp throughout the fight have fun!
