Pyromancy Flame is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3, used to cast Pyromancies.

Flame catalyst used by pyromancers.

Equip a pyromancy flame to utilize pyromancy. Pyromancies must be attuned at a bonfire before use.

Skill: Combustion
Creates a powerful flame in the wielder's hand. One of the most basic pyromancies, and for this very reason, the flame created is fierce. Works while equipped in either hand.

Notes and Tips:

  • A Pyromancy Flame is upgraded with normal Titanite, and can only be upgraded by Cornyx of the Great Swamp.
  • The effectiveness of Pyromancy scales both with Faith and Intelligence.
  • The basic Combustion spell is a Skill feature of the Pyromancy Flame in this game, and not available as an attunable spell.
  • At 40 Intelligence and 40 Faith the flame has a Spell Buff of 207 (Source)
  • At 60 INT and 60 FTH it has a spellbuff of 221.

Location/Where to Find

  • Starting equipment for the Pyromancer
  • Given by Cornyx after rescuing him (excluding pyromancer class).

I probably think this because I have a brain the size of a bottlecap, but if you get 40/40 for pyromancy why wouldn't you just use sorcery/faith instead? or even better all three magics, I know it would require a lot of attunement, but I feel like it would still be way more worth the grind instead of just using pyro only

Is there a way to get a second Pyro flame before ng+ without dlc? I'd really like to cast fireballs with r1, but I use the flame sword buff a lot, so I need a Pyro flame for left hand as well

They all have uses... Demon's scar more PvP... I use all 3 then .. pyro flame= range most DMG.. pyromancy parting flame= most stamina and most DMG melee range... Demon's scar= least DMG but not by to much, least stamina, fast ass attacks and unlockable was= give chase/finisher

          • Anonymous

Not sure about NG, but in subsequent playthroughs he does give you a pyromancy flame even if you started out as a Pyromancer.

seriouslly from all the weapon arts they could choose for this why they decided to make it do a garbage spell attack? why not perseverance so we will be able to hit someone with sacred flame because you know poise is trash in this game

              • Anonymous

Please, add the fact that somewhat until 34 int/fth the intellegence scales fire damage and the faith scales dark damage (can not confirm that faith does not scale fire dmg until 34 at all, but can certainly say that int scales fire dmg much better). For example: fireballs at +0 usual pyromancy flame at 17/17 int/faith deal 93 dmg to vordt, while at 17/14 int/faith fireballs deal 93 dmg too. I did not find any info about this fact on any of the wikis, but there is a video of pyromancy only 0 hit run by Couch Jokey and he demonstrates the difference quite well in the run

                • Weapon art is kinda garbage compared to literally any pyromancy spell. Starting as a Pyromancer, with the +0 flame and 14 int/fth Fireball deals more damage, consumes less FP and can be cast at range. The only thing the weapon art (combustion) does better than fireball is it is quicker to cast by a small margin.

"Creates a powerful flame in the wielder's hand." ...this must be the description for some other game because Combustion in this one is a joke and consumes so much FP it's not worth using for anything besides finishing an enemy where Great Combustion would be wasted...if you don't use your regular weapon that is.

Interesting note, while its used to cast pyromancies, its WA combustion is affected by the farron ring bringing its FP cost down from 12 to 9. Just tested it :)

I really wish they had made one of the pyromancy flames look like a blackflame. That would have been awesome.

how do i unupgrade my pyromancy flame? i was trying to give snuggly my flame so i could upgrade my weapon to a chaos weapon, and there is no other way to get a pyromancy flame. im screwed

                          • Anonymous

Just did some testing and it seems the spell was literally 1% stronger after an upgrade. Only upgrade this if nothing else needs upgrading

                            • Anonymous

I can't help but notice that the spell buff only increases by 1. Is this thing worth upgrading?I'd hope it's "fire attack" is relevant to the actual pyromancies, but as we all know those are "spells" too, like miracles or sorceries.

Question: does equipping the pyromancy flame burn off any leeches attached to you, like equipping the torch does?

                                • Anonymous

I accidentally sold the flame. I did read that cornyx drop it if u kill him. Didn't happened. Started ng +. Came to him again and saved him. Didn't get it at that point again. Playing on x1. I am not pyromancer on that char. But want to respecc later. Please help.

I started a new character and used a pyro build, dropped my old pyro glove +10 to a friend whom is going through play through 3 now, and he tried to drop my old pyro glove to my new character. however it wont appear for me when he dropped it.Does anyone know what went wrong?

If anyone on ps4 doesn't need their glove anymore, please reply to get a trade. I want to do a dual pyromancy build without entering ng+ Psn is CaptainCasp.

I've been seeing a lot of people saying you have to wait for your 2nd glove until you get to ng+. Well I got my 2nd before that. I would like to say i have not tested this. I started as a pyromancer and when I saved cornyx he did not give me one and I was really bummed out. Then at the end of my first playthrough I decided to kill everyone and get their armor sets and guess what! Cornyx dropped a glove!

With the dark spell tools scaling above 40/40, has anyone tried to test how it affects the pyro flame? The dark pyromancies should also be tested, just in case they gain more damage (but I doubt it).

                                          • Anonymous

So, I'm kinda new to the game, my lvl is now on 80 but when I got the flame I thought it would be useless if I play as a Knight, but now when I think about it, I could use it for the arc stuff to buff my sword.. is there a way to get another one???

                                            • Anonymous

When I was farming for refined gems and sunlight medals, I noticed that a flash of light would appear on my character when combining spells; for example, I would throw a fireball and then use Boulder Heave immediately after, and noticed a blue flash upon activating the second spell. After further testing with a couple other pyromancies, I have discovered that the flash may reduce the casting time of compatible spells! Testing fireball into Flashsweat seems to reduce the activation speed of Flashsweat, and activating Iron Flesh after a fireball also seems to have the very same effect. This is the first time I have seen something like this and it may also apply to other types of magic as well. If any of you find anything, reply so that more people can see!

                                              • Anonymous

There seems to be something that is happening when you combine specific spells. Try throwing a fireball and then combo it with Boulder Heave and upon activating the second spell, your character flashes blue. It doesn't work with every spell, like fireball into Sacred Flame, but maybe it's doable with other spells as well. Does anyone know what is going on?

                                                • Anonymous

Hear me out on this, 'cause I want to know what people think. Who else just wants to ditch the combustion skill if the pyromancy flame is in your left hand and replace it with the weapon skill that shields like the stone Parma have? It would probably be broken but dammit I hate having to two-hand a rapier to do its weapon art without a shield that lets me!

Hey, Looking to maximize my pyro damage, rings are great swamp, witches, sages, and fireclutch... great chaos fireball does about 450 first tick, lava tick makes it 650. intel is 30, faith is 15, and flame is +6. at what points should i push intel and faith before i see almost no more extra damage on my flame?

                                                    • Anonymous

My Pyromancy Flame is +6 ATM and it has a Spell buff of 150Something is either wrong with my Flame or the Information here

                                                      • Anonymous

Pyromancies scale off of Intelligence and faith (fire pyromancy more so on int and dark pyromancy more so on faith), the lower of the two being your limiting factor for damage. Both stats softcap at 30, and anything past that in both yields minimal gains in damage for pyromancy based spells. This is what my testing has found anyway.SL:100NG+

                                                        • Anonymous

Seems like the flame scales with the highest of both attributes, either INT or FTH.I didnt upgrade my flame yet and the scaling mirrors my INT stat. Increasing 1 per 1 point intelligence. I checked this multiple times before and after leveling up my INT stat.(FYI I have 24 INT and 7 FTH right now, flame is at +24).Can anyone else confirm this?

Is there a way to get multiple flames, like one for each hand (other than player trade)? That would be pretty annoying if you couldn't.

"Contrary to the Pyromancy Flame's own description, you cannot use its Combustion skill with your right hand as you cannot two-hand it. You would have to use a shield with the Weapon Skill skill instead."if you have nothing in your left hand you should be able to use a weapon skill in your right hand...haven't tested with the pyromancy glove specifically but this is true of the staff which has the same text in it.
