Instantly step behind or around the side of foes. Especially effective when locked on to target.

Quickstep is a Skill in Dark Souls 3.

Weapons That Have Quickstep

Notes & Information

  • Quickstep causes the player to "dash" instead of roll, allowing for fast motions, that place the character behind enemies with ease. As long as you have FP you have invulnerability frames during this attack.
  • A counter to the dash is to 1h a greatsword and attack continuously until you hit the target (make sure to time your swings).
  • Using this weapon art is helpful for dashing through deep water.
  • Quickstepping uses slightly less stamina than a normal roll.
  • Quickstep is still fully functional while between 70 and 100% equipment load, where you otherwise have a fat roll. Going above 100% equipment load will cause quickstep to not work.
  • If the player gets hit after the i-frames end they will take an instability hit.

Boy I'm just glad it's only on ONE stupid broken weapon, I mean imagine if you could just, I dunno, have this on something like a rapier or a spear! Crazy times those'd be.

Quickstep in invasions: an important tool to have that can save you from a blender at the last second, lets you avoid getting rollcaught in the same scenarios and move more fluidly around casters

          Quickstep in duels: bruh

Thrusting swords are the cure to quickstep spam. Thrust damage gets a big boost when you hit them after the quickstep, add the leo ring and you'll take a decent chunk off them every time you hear the THUNK

            • Anonymous

Does Carthus Bloodring work with this? If it did that would be downright broken cause the art itself is already op

this is a godsend for pve in my experience. it lets you dash midway through your attacks allowing you to be on the offensive with minimum risks. the only thing which you have to look out for is fp. i would highly recommend having a weapon with this skill on it even if you dont use that weapon for farron swamp. it will make your pain much shorter.

It's half-annoying and half-flattering when the other guy realizes you're actually competent in PVP, so they pull a knife with this WA because they're desperate for a win. Personally I don't use this WA, and if you don't spam it to the point of cancer, that's good. But in times like those, I wish spamming WAs had stacking FP cost, just to **** with the quickstep spammers.

The best counter to quickstep spammers are any sweeping attacks, the BKUG's two hand strong attack is particularly good at handling it. Use weapons that control a lot of space, stagger your swings to catch them out of their I-frames, and don't try and lock on to them when attacking, you'll have a lot more success free cam.

2 best WA.. Perseverance then this... I like a lot of the different wa's more.. but in the end these 2 basic ass wa have the most put out... Anyone saying it's not that useful meh.. to each their own... But learn to time these 2 and simply put... Lord of tank, Lord of dodge

Regular dodging forces you to do a roll attack after the animation is over, while the Quickstep allows you to get in and immediately start swinging. It definitely has its use. It has longer iv frames and faster recovery. You will still have to be careful against anyone using a longsword or curvedsword.

This is so annoying to fight against in PVP. Not even necessarily difficult to fight, just really annoying. I'm so glad not many people use it.

Spamming this in pvp is a lot like clicking a pen; it's pretty fun when you do it, but if someone else does it your mood is ruined permanently

"A counter to the dash is to 1h a greatsword and attack continuously until you hit the target (make sure to time your swings)." Not a very good counter, considering the greatsword wielder will run out of stamina way before the quickstepper.

in my opinion this WA is useless beside being buffed by iron flesh or the havel rock defence buff thing , i have never dodged a single attack with quickstep , the animation looks bad and no invincibility frames , as well of being slower than a med roll

As a Bloodborne veteran who recently got dks3 I can firmly say quickstep is a godsend for me because now I can dodge through everything

Can confirm quickstep is good, its always fun to bully lothric knights by just quickstepping through all of their attacks and then stunlocking them with bleed gemmed manikin claws for an easy kill. Good times. Best part is they literally can't get out of the stunlock until you stop.

To counter Quickstep. Hit them at the end of the Quickstep animation. The minute you see them use it, don't swing. Start swinging when they're at middle-end or end of the animation.
                                      You will catch them.

Thinking of using quickstep as a counter to annoying heavy enemies... Mostly PVE. Using Armor of Thorns set mostly for fashion souls but the added little poke and chance to stagger (I think?) is icing on the cake. My question is, what are the better quickstep weapons? I'm actually on a Faith build right now as well, but I would really like my quickstep weapon to poison or bleed. I'm running a blessed Thrall axe to stack with my current regen stuff, but it doesn't seem to bring enough to the table. Finally, has anyone tested the poison/bleed/armor of thorns quickstep combo? I'm hoping against hope that I can actually proc one of the effects by quickstepping with the armor set. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks!

Recently I realized something made me very sad. If you have laggy internet, your quickstep is totally invincible. Nobody, no weapon and no item can interrupt your quickstep.

When I see a halberd user I take out my dagger and he is gone, quickstep is great to counter halberd users and UGS users alike. After they attack don't have enough time to roll away due the long animation of these weapons and due the low amount of recovery frames you will score hits, its excellent.

Just how long does the Iframes on this move last?Just fought some guy (PvP) who used it, and he seemed just to slide through every time I tried to hit him...It's basically close to impossible to hit anyone if they just spam around using this move.

Is there anything that makes quickstepping more useful than plain dodging? esp being that quickstep costs FP

                                                • Anonymous

The information above, as of 13-04-2016, is wrong. The Quickstep does NOT replace the roll, it is used just like any other weapon art, with L2/LT. Also, it loses ALL the I-frames once you run out of FP (tested by steping INTO one of the starting hollows attack with and without FP)

                                                  • Anonymous

Confirmed that there are very good i-frames while fighting the Uchinagata guy outside of Firelink, Quickstep'd through his slashes
