Sniper Crossbow is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Long-range heavy crossbow used by Carim snipers.

Its lengthy base makes aiming difficult, and accurate usage requires a trained, dexterous hand.

Skill: Tackle
Lunge into a shoulder tackle, pushing back enemies to create distance.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Titanite.
  • Has the longest range out of all the Crossbows. However, it has a much longer reload and firing animations than the other crossbows.
  • When held with both hands firing and reloading is noticeably quicker.

Location/Where to Find

  • Looted from a corpse at the top of a gatehouse just before the dragons in Lothric Castle.

This thing looks and plays as if it was a "Great Crossbow", but it sadly has absolutely no payoff.
      Pros:
It has 20% more range than the next best crossbows and it looks cool.

      Cons:
It deals less damage than the Heavy Crossbow and Arbalest.
      It's considerably heavier.
It has the highest stat requirements.
It's animations are so slow one handed that it's downright unusuable, and if you two-hand this thing, it's still a bit slower than the others.

A tiny bit more range for lackluster damage, speed and weight is a terrible tradeoff.
Maybe there's some nieche shots it can land with the hawk ring and sniper bolts where the Arbalest would deal less damage but overall, using the Sniper Crossbow is a detriment to yourself.

With that being said, don't keep yourself from using it if you really like this thing.
Just because it's suboptimal doesn't mean you can't have fun.
In the worst case, you can show off by being just as good with a worse option than with a better one. :P

Might not be useful for dealing damage, but it's perfect at getting phantoms triggered enough to split from the group.

Bad in pvp but it's pretty useful in pve when you want a boss to look at you. Found the best uses in the Midir fight and Demon Prince, as it keeps the aggro on you

What could've saved this weapon? Marvelous Chester's moves. While 2-handing, you would gain Chester's moveset (minus the sick-ass leg sweep, and dodging animation). The weapon art would've been the repeating shot Chester does (fire, pull the bolt, repeat). Maybe it wouldn't have made it stronger, but it certainly would've made it more entertaining to use for all parties.

you can snipe the dragon at the archdragon peak with this weapon (with sniper bolts and hawk ring, knight ring, hunter ring, and carthus milk ring). good for sl 1 cheese.

It's biggest flaw is that is uses an RDS. Who wastes an attachment slot on optics? Tri-bolt is way better

Listen, this weapon may be trash, but here's a fit worth trying Old Sorcerer Hat Vilhelm's Armor Slave Knight Gauntlets (this is definitley more variable, I just happened to pick this and am satisfied with how they look) Leonhard's Trousers (Use these because my char is a girl and I like the look of the high boots but I also thought the sorcerer + old sorcerer, as well as karla's all looked decent) Looks *****ing beautiful. I think this weapon is trash but looks great, but only just came up with a look that I think actually believably fits it. Like one of those hip young college sorcery assassins, but with a bad ass sniper crossbow. I paired it with Ricard's rapier as a final piece of accessory to top it off (ps my char i have this on is a blond chick, but it looks cool enough so id see why you couldnt do a guy or experiment with how the character looks)

Love how when lock on aiming it tends to aim for the head automatically. It is not something to rely on but it definitely is a bonus!

This weapon honestly makes me sad. It has such a cool design to it, and I love the idea of just making an invasion build with Obscuring Ring, sniping the host and his posse on occasion with Sniper/Explosive bolts and then attacking them with some quick weapon on decisive ambush points with plunges or corner stabs.
                      ...
So here comes the question. What the ***** happened? Again?
It was in Dark Souls 1, and was complete trash. Basically unusable unless you wanted to look cool. Then a certain NPC everyone who played Dark Souls 1 should remember made you look like a stupid weeb since he did it ten times cooler.
And now, after some testing with it against the Arbalest on FAR range shots against static PvE enemies... I just, I just can't.
It might do up to 5 more damage on extremely long range when using Heavy Bolts when compared to the Arbalest, whilst doing about 30 or 40 points lower close up.
But okay, its shots do fly a bit further, so its easier to hit... I guess?
                      ...
Lets equip Sniper Bolts, cause we really want to maximize that range right? ANDDD the Arbalest does more damage with slightly more bolt drop whilst also completely outclassing the Sniper Crossbow up close.
Oh the Sniper Crossbow also loads slower than other crossbows when one-handed? Good. Great. Oh also unit+ heavier than the crossbow that completely outclasses it in pretty much every single way? No that's just fantastic. Kill my dreams why won't you.

If anyone has actually found a reason to use this thing, please let me know? I'll religiously come back here during Christmas to see if a Miracle has happened.
...Maybe the Hawk ring will actually make it better?... Testing.

Please help? I'm like that sick little boy from that one Christmas movie, but my walking stick is this God forsaken crossbow since I broke my legs running around trying to make it work.

firing animation is slow as hell, can use it in combat, only outside the range is fantastic, but with the hawk ring the arbelist easily outclasses this "gun"
