Straight Swords  are solid and versatile weapons, with decent damage, reach, and varied movesets.  Straight swords are a great option for both PvE and PvP. The fact that all Straight Swords have the ability to perform fast vertical strikes is also useful in tight corridors and around corners. The most found Skill among them is Stance.

        Clearly the superior choice in any situation... It's my firm opinion that the straight sword class in general is OP, the dark sword being on it's own tier of bullshit. Maybe that sounds whiny or salty, but i don't honestly have issues with people using straight swords so much as i have issues with being 4 hit killed by a dark infused straight sword. Fighting with straight swords really is as simple as just managing your spacing and punishing, i'll say that straight swords are easy mode and don't really take skill to use, that isn't to say that you CAN'T fight using a straight sword with skill. I've been on both sides of the argument and know what its like both fighting and using straight swords, there are people who actually fight with skill, it's just "skill" involving straight swords really just seems to be being really aggressive and roll catching at every possible opportunity, it can feel really cheap. You know what i'm talking about, those skilled straight sword users that basically dominate the fight and usually have you dead in around 30 seconds the first time you fight them, then you git gud the next time you fight them and eventually their "skill" (aggressive playstyle) gets easier to handle as you fight them more. That or you have those guys that will just walk away from you untargeted and R1 back at you when you go to follow them and just repeat this. I can say from experience that the default straight sword class WAs can be SO good if you know how to use them... It can feel unfair how good they can be... shields basically become useless and that WA R2 is just AMAZING if used right. The WA R1 comes out quicker than most regular r1s on almost every weapon type and chains into the WA R2 really well too, its not a true combo but will land often if the opponent doesn't time their roll well. There really are just so many reasons straight swords are just too good, are there counter measures? Of course. There're counter measure to everything, but anyone with skill knows how to handle said counter measures for their weapon.

                  People do realize that the reason youre being hit from 10+ feet away by anything smaller than a greaysword is because of how games handle latency and lag. On the attacker's screen it wouldve shown you being hit, even if on your screen you clearly were not. The slower the internet connection, the greater the lag and latency therefore the higher chance of you being "hit" even if you clearly were out of range. I've killed and been killed many times due to that, and sometimes you can't really fix it, especially if you're in a "cross-region" match up because the further you two are from each other, the longer the latency. This isn't some bug with the weapons at all.

                      Why even try to use something like an Exile Greatsword when invading? Cucks are always in groups of 3 or 4.<br/><br/>In case of 3 vs 1 i say %$#% those memelords, just rock that Raw Astora Straightsword at low levels or Sunlight/Lothric Straightsword at high levels, buff it and go with it, roll and bait.<br/><br/>You'll be surprised how good this type of weapon is against multiple opponents.<br/><br/>You don't even need to spam r1... just don't get hit.

                        So most people can agree that EVERYONE uses straight swords, and frankly it got really boring considering the fact that almost everyone is using a god***** Darksword or barbed straight sword in the NG cycle. I really don't want some stupidly powerful axe or hammer, but I'm saying it would be more interesting if the straight swords did not show up 100% of the time you invade or get invaded. Pls up the scaling slightly but drop the base damage.

                            I would really like to see a straight sword with half-swording attack techniques. Standard/Strike type, with more weight than a normal sword, as well as with more AR. This kind of melee fight looks really fascinating.

                                Issue for me isn't that hit hits you even out of the weapon range (although that is one major issue) my issue is how have the game designers let straight swords have the damage of a Greatsword close swing speed of a curved sword and low stamina reduction per.swing. In my opinion all straight swords should be reduced to lower danger and less swing speed it's getting boring seeing dark sword after dark sword. I personally use the carthus curved sword and don't loose much on pvp but come on these straight swords do touch damage
