Sunlight Medal Usage
- Used to rank up in the Warriors of Sunlight covenant. Offer them at the Sunlight Altar behind the wooden door before the Dragonslayer Armour boss. Reach via a ladder leading to the roof of this building.
Ranks and Rewards
- 10 Sunlight Medals - Sacred Oath
- 30 Sunlight Medals - Great Lightning Spear
Sunlight Medal Locations
- Obtained by successfully assisting someone as a gold phantom or by receiving help by a gold phantom.
- Can be gained by killing a host as a red phantom while having the Warrior of Sunlight pledge equipped.
- Will be granted if you invade as any Covenant and another red phantom is present with Warrior of Sunlight pledge equipped and the host is defeated.
- Will not be awarded for killing a red phantom invader.
- Drop from Lothric Knight in Lothric Castle (2%)
- One medal can be looted from a corpse near sunlight altar (once per playthrough). From the corpse you can see the boss fog from Dragonslayer Armour.
Notes
- Offline/PvE farming as a sorcerer: One of the fastest methods to farm the Sunlight Medal is at the Lothric Castle bonfire. You need 60 INT, +9 Court Sorcerer's Staff, Magic clutch ring, Young Dragon Ring, Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, and Soul Stream spell. Note that the staff does not need to be fully upgraded so that, if you decide to re-spec, you do not need to waste a Titanite Slab. To boost item discovery, you can equip Symbol of Avarice (mimic's head), Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, Crystal Sage's Rapier, and Rusted Gold/Rusted Coin. The key is to one-hit two Lothric Knights near the bonfire with Soul Stream. Here are the steps:
- Start at the FAR END of the bonfire, this prevents the knight near you to walk away as soon you get up from the bonfire.
- Then, cast Steady Chant and then use Rusted coin before moving away from the bonfire (so that the knight does not start to walk away).
- Approach the knight and cast Soul Stream. Make sure you align your spell so that it fully hits both knights. This can be done by standing on the steps, and a bit to its right side (when facing the knight) so that you are almost at the edge of the carpet.
- You can repeat these steps one other time before the effect of Rusted Coin runs out. Meaning this method gets you approximately 4 kills/minute.

I just want to describe my experiences. In general, I noticed when farming souls that you get more souls the higher the damage to the target, especially with the final hit. This happens in stages and there is an upper limit. The whole thing is maximized with the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, Symbol of Avarice, the Shield of Want and, if the time is right, the Mendicant's Staff.
If you also wear the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, you will also get the most loot. As I said, the damage has to be very high, so charged R2 or weapon skill L2 is best. Since I mostly play offline, I have to farm from opponents. This also applies to the Suntlight Medal. I tried the process with the Crystal Sage's Rapier and the Rusted Coin. I get 423 luck with all the equipment. I was missing 20 medals. I collected the first ten with great effort in 2 1/2 hours. I then switched to the Shield of Want because I needed a few souls. And suddenly I had farmed the remaining 10 medals in 45 minutes. I have the feeling that the chance of getting items in the loot depends more on how many souls you get than on pure luck. Because under the conditions I only have 322 luck instead of 423 and still get the items for the Covenant Rewards much faster.

For any one trying the Soul Stream farming strat, I line up my right foot (while in the casting pose) with the rip in the carpet just at the top of the steps. This was most consistent for me when NOT MOVING for Steady Chant and Rusted Coin.
Sometimes the far knight will do a small swerve to the right - and I found that positioning like this would also catch him in these cases.

So how would be the best way of going about farming these without beating the life out of a lothric knight (I don't wanna deal with low drop rates for a while the blessed ****ing gem already pissed me off) and win-trading? Would it be to invade and hope to the gods that I can get a lucky win with how many players are running mage and katana builds, or would it be to sit outside somewhere like Dragonslayer or Dancer's door and wait. Faith build using Blessed Lothric Knight Greatsword btw, and what recommendations should I go with for the various sl 60-80 bosses I could take on?

If you're farming the knights using melee it's honestly way faster to just kill the first knight and run back to the bonfire rather than killing both

Would be nice to be able to collect these, I was a dedicated Sunbro in DS2, but I can't play DS3 online at all. Seriously, even when not using any of the online features like co-op or invasion at all, merely being online caused me so much lag and frame drops that I had to go offline permanently even before I reached Firelink Shrine. It's weird, because I haven't had any similar problems at all playing Elden Ring (although the co-op in that game has had its own problems).

Is it just my imagination, or did you use to get loads of these from almost the start of the game ( a few years back, pre-patches day ).. Felt like you got one for every 50-100 hollows you killed or something. Which was no fuss.
the fastest way to grind these online is to throw down red signs with your friend and take turns killing the host. kinda sounds BS but it's way faster especially in 2022 lol

I'm only at 12 so far after maybe 1.5 hours, but my tip for offline farming is make sure your item discovery is maxed out. Just respec at Rosaria and make a luck build with 99 luck, then put the remaining points into the minimum stats for whatever weapon/spell you want to use, and make sure you have the gold serpent +3, symbol of avarice and sage's rapier. You're playing a numbers game so the only two variables that matter are item discovery and how fast you can kill the lothric knights.
