Crystal Gem Usage
- Used for Crystal weapon Infusion
- Crystal weapons inflict magic damage which scales with the Intelligence stat
- Requires the Sage's Coal in order to start infusing weapons
Crystal Gem Locations
- 1x Dropped by a Crystal Lizard, in the broken building before the Crystal Sage, in Road of Sacrifices.
- 1x Dropped by the first Crystal Lizard the player encounters in the Grand Archives.
- 1x Dropped by a Giant Crab near the Depths of the Painting bonfire.
- (NG+) Dropped by the large undead with a Great Axe, near the entrance to Cathedral of the Deep.
- Cloaked Hollows and Hollow Sorcerers in Road of Sacrifices before Crystal Sage area have a chance to drop it.
- Can be dropped by the Grand Archives Scholars and the Hollow Slaves in the Grand Archives.
- Chance to drop from the Giant Crabs near the Depths of the Painting bonfire.
Trivia
- Despite its name it has nothing in common with the brittle Crystal infusion of the first Dark Souls game.

Is there even a place in the world for this poor infusion? A caster is going to use Simple, the slight dip in damage is more than worth the FP recovery. Raw/sharp with Crystal Magic Weapon is better for hyper mode. For a general use elemental infusion build, Chaos/Dark can achieve better results with fewer levels. What can Crystal infusion do that the others can't?

Currently looking for the best shield (per category) that can pair with this. I want to see how high I can get the magic absorption. And if a combination is more practical than the magic shield for it’s category.

I just got two of these from the Ice Crabs in Ariandel. One from the first Crab you encounter (dropped it and I had to pick it up) and one from the second one that burrows itself out of the ice. (Dropped it instantly into my inventory) Does that mean they can drop these regular? The third one sadly dropped nothing for me but I got these two after each other. I'll do more research on it so if I manage to get more from these can anyone list them as drops from the Ice crabs?

What is the soft cap for int in weapons infused with this? does it differ by weapon?

The crabs in the Depths of the Painting can drop these as regular drops as well, not just the one guaranteed drop. Still probably better to farm the area before the Crystal Sage, though.

Is this one good to infuse a dagger only used for riposte in a dex/int build ( my sharp twinblades are my main weapon)

If I have 50 int, 30 faith, am i better off with a crystal longsword for int scaling only, or dark / chaos for int and faith scaling?

I got a drop from a Grand Archives Lothric Knight who had a crystal magoc weapon effect on his sword.

Important note for any fledgling caster looking at this/chaos gem/etc vs weapon buffs: Flat means *flat*. Crystal Magic Weapon looks impressive on the status sheet but doesn't multiply with critical or even charged r2. My buffed raw rapier at an impressive 538 AR only did 740 on a backstab, vs crystal rapier at a humble 424 doing 1027. Crystal Dagger +10 can easily do 1.3k-2k on a critical hit depending on how much you RTSR etc up, and at 60 int can one-shot King of Storms (NG) off a *regular* Soul Spear stagger. Buffs are optimal for r1/l1 spam (and even then only by a smaller margin than people rage quit Soul Spears over) and for physical builds with a buff supplement. But for any caster base, infusion is going to be better in just about every way.

I had one drop in Cathedral of the Deep I forget which mob but it's probably as rare as Crucifixion Woods for the drop rate. I forget which mob dropped it, but I'd say if you're looking to farm a few Crucifixion Woods is still the better spot to do so.

I'm trying to use the Crystal gem at the blacksmith and i cannot apply it to any of my weapons. I can use other gems but the crystal doesn't show up when i try to infuse my weapon. And yes the gem is in my inventory.

I can confirm that you CANNOT use the magic weapon spell or items (pine sap, charcoal, ect...) on a weapon in this upgrade path.

slap this bad boy on a weapon with the warcry WA if you have an int build, since the warcry would remove any buffs applied on the weapon, and it still buffs the damage while infused, so every weapon with this art will be a great candidate for infusion (i had a crystal milwood battleaxe in a 60 int build character, and it dealt insane damage and kept the pressure high at all times)
