Considering how much Souls fans pore over the details of this game, it's hard to believe that just this scant amount of info is available for this enemy.

      • I have found that the Great Scythe L1 seems to be absurdly effective against these. I'm not sure why, given that they aren't meant to be weak to slash or bleed.

          the weaknesses are wrong.
i tested different infused sword on the ones on the top of lothric castel, with a character with high faith and intelligence and low physical characteristics (so more than half the damage would be elemental)

fire and dark did the same damage (around 210 per hit)
          lightning was comparable
crystal did less (but the weapon had less AR)

so i would say that there is no elemental resistances or weaknesses.
          leaving only strike

originally, i sw them, though "demons", took into ccount their stone appearances, and concluded that physical would be inefficient, and lightning would be best...
            despite being a sorceror...
seeing their strenghs and weakness here after a few playthrough, i feel I ve been had.

The cheapest thing I can remember in DS3 was being struck with ruler straight precision by the Gargoyles charge attack and being knocked directly sidewards off the Profaned Capital bridge JUST because that’s what would kill me rather than being logically knocked backwards

Best enemy to farm souls with silver ring in the profane capital. Two right at the tower bonfire. They are so easy to fight even with their spear. Just be sure to not roll of the edge or into walls.

The wing shield turtling on these things is annoying as shit. Just get out of the way already you boring ass enemy.

Weird creatures. From the lore Gargoyles have to be monsters of the Old Izalith Chaos. Stone turned to life. But they aren't obviously. They are artificialy made to serve as guardians. What's left is some sort of sorcery that binds souls to stone. But nothing like that was ever explained. Could it be that the Profaned Flame is the missing link here? At least for the DS3 Gargyoles? That it brought the Gargoyle statues to life? Then on the other hand what have Gargoyles from the Profaned Capitol to do in Lothric Castle? To they protect or besiege the Castle? Same goes for the Boreal Knight from who we get the armor. I thought they were enemies of Lothric. Why is someone sitting in the center of the archives?

Didn't see it updated but there are a total of 5 Gargoyles (at least!) on the rooftops of Grand Archives. Two can be fought/lured to the broken window (first can be shot/lured right from the broken window/roof, 2nd can be hit by arrow to agro/agitate it from the main roof access...where other 3 are normally found, look up and right as you come out for it's red-weapon flame/grey wing...then go back to broken window and if you can hit it again as it's walking it'll come over and jump down), the other 3 are well known to be outside as you traverse the roof area. I still suspect that there may be something else out there...yep I'm a hopeful for greirat.

They can fall to their deaths, I've seen it. I was playing with my friend and was leaving Irithyll Dungeon and crossing the bridge into Profaned Capital. The gargoyle then half landed on the bridge and slipped off.

Not important in the slightest but I miss Dark Souls 1 gargoyles for the goofy attacks, the greenish color, the useless armor they dropped. I just wish we could at least wear their heads.

Resists Lightning. With 43 Faith and Canvas Talisman+6( Spellbuff 182), lightning spear only did 96 damage.
