Alva Armor Set is an Armor in Dark Souls 3.

Protection of Alva, seeker of the spurned. This (Piece Name) was trimmed to reduce weight.

To this day, troubadours sing of tales of the Wandering knight Alva and his travels, and of his involvement with the saint and the witch. Needless to say, the songs traditionally end in tragedy.

Location/Where to Find

  • You must have been invaded by and defeated Dark Spirit Alva in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley on the staircase leading to the Irithyll Dungeon bonfire. His set will be found on a corpse near Karla's Cell, in the large cell block full of Jailers.
  • Do NOT defeat Yhorm before trying to obtain this armor. Alva will not invade afterwards.

Notes and Tips

  • This set, while its resistances are outclassed by other ~22 weight armor sets, offers more poise than its weight-class competitors.

I'm Embered, Human (non-hollow), and I didn't kill Yorm. I've killed all the enemies and stood and walked on the stairs, but he does not invade. Perhaps I don't understand which stairs actually?

Best armor for warden (for honor) cosplay, togheter with elite knight gauntlets and cathedral knight helmet. Add claymore and/or hollow greatsword, et voilà

Someone else has already noticed the great similarity between Alva and the character that appears on the cover of Dark Souls 1?

Man got with a witch who was sent to kill him but instead she let him smash. And yet stupid undeads in this comment section call him a simp. He actually got the girl. Pog

Something about this set is off, when compared to its ds2 version. Maybe its the diminished physics on the cloth pieces, or the way lighting works in ds3, but it seems to have lost some of its appeal.

welp, just realised that you dont kill yhorm the giant or the NPC will not invade.. welp guess ill be seeing him in NG+4

As much as i love the helm for this set, its worth noting the desert pyromancer hood melds quite naturally into this

This is probably bad but here.
Goblin slayer: Alva helm, Nameless knight chest, Firelink gauntlets and leggings, Broadsword, Llewelyn or target shield, with follower javelin and torch, and bastard sword.

In my possession I currently have the souls of Vordt, Rotted Greatwood, Crystal Sage, Deacons, Wolnir, Sulyvahn, Dancer, Dragonslayer, Demon, Demon King, Oceiros, Champion Gundyr and Blood of the Wolf in that order, I just went into Irithyll Dungeon, was invaded by Alva, defeated him and there is no set anywhere in the lower parts where the jailers are roaming around. I’ve reset the area a couple of times and nothing has popped up. Do you guys think this could be lore related somehow, or maybe just a bug?

I never hear people mention this armor, and I think it's pretty good. I really only speak for the chest piece though. With some investment in vitality and the right rings, I am able to just get away with a 29.9% long roll and still have decent defense.

Just finished my first str/vit heavy build and this is by far my favorite armor. It matches so well with the typically dark and weathered looking lategame str weapons (RKPGS, Ledo's, HCGS, Splitleaf, DSGA) and Yhorm's gs. Extremely fashionable and just has the perfect weight class for using a bigass weapon or a medium one and a greatshield. I've been having a lot of fun doing sunbro runs wearing this and Yhorm's + DSGA/HCGS on lategame bosses with random people, good times all around. I know poise ain't what it used to be but I can feel the diff wearing this vs another medium set like fallen knight and I vastly prefer this. Tldr; for a str build with moderate vit investment...this armor is just damn good, I love it to death.

"troubadours sing of tales of the Wandering knight Alva and his travels, and of his involvement with the saint and the witch. Needless to say, the songs traditionally end in tragedy" I would choose Witch. Saints are no fun in bed and Witch can have golden noble hearth superior to title given by the church.

This is harder to get in Dark Souls 2 because you need to purchase it from Maughlin... And I'm willing to bet you already killed him.

                              • The armor go really well with the desert pyromancer hood! Leathers are the same color and link perfectly, and they both have these little golden embroidery!

This set looks pretty good if you swap the helmet for the Iron Dragonslayer helm. And vice versa, actually.

Why did they make this look so weathered compared to the DS 2 version? I know Alva is supposed to be travelling and whatnot, but the DS 2 version looks more crisp and has alot more detail. The 2nd layer of the skirt is removed, the golden embroidery at the edges of the skirt and scarf are almost gone, including the center symbol at skirt. Not to mention that the legs are noticeably curved outward making you look like you have midget legs. I hoped they just directly imported the DS 2 model and textures.

for if you want to to rush to have this fabulous set early without the necessary exploration, keys, etc.

I just arrived at the Church of Yorshka bonfire, then dashed to Distant Manor bonfire, killed Alva, dashed to Irithyll Dungeon bonfire, and finally dashed through mobs via the linked video.

It also didn't seem to mess up Siegward's questline as I was stil able to meet him at the fireplace with the estus soup.

I killed Alva's spirit, explored the entire area around Karla's cell. I've only found embers and a few items in other cells. I don't know why, but I don't seem to see Alma's armor anywhere in the area. Can anyone tell me what could have happened? (I've killed Pontiff Sulyvahn, if that has any effect on it)

                                        • Anonymous

It's pretty dumb how he invades again in the Ringed City but doesn't drop his armor if you kill him. I missed out the first time and I really like the set, I thought From was giving us another chance but NOPE.

The sarcastic yay more poise if it existed, the thing is since hyper armour you can't really have both or you'll have havels and naked guys just tank every hit and not even stagger

Idk what From did but when my character runs it looks like I have dwarf legs.Fix the got dang model you fools!

It´s interesting to note that this armor is found outside the cell of Karla the Witch, after you´ve defeated the phantom. Goes quite well with the lore about Alva being seduced by another witch in Dark Souls 2.

                                                • Anonymous

As a note, Alva will still invade, even if you've defeated the Pontiff. I don't know about later bosses, or if you've passed through Irithyll Valley completely.

                                                  • Anonymous

Great, I killed Sulyvahn, now I'll never have this armor set, what a well made game ! Kudos to the devs !What an half assed job they did with this one, it's unbelievable, even more unbelievable that I even paid for this

                                                    • Anonymous

I haven't gotten that far yet (about to). Will the armor not be found if Alva kills you? I want this set of armor but I don't won't to screw up my only chance of getting it.

                                                      • Anonymous

This has to be the laziest port of an armor set in a game I have ever seen. They didn't put the holes in the vertical bands so it looks like one giant, solid piece that is impossible to see out of. The chest and gloves look overly shiny to cover up the low quality textures of the metal. The default knight armor has more work put into it than this set. They forced only as much effort into transferring it from Dark Souls 2 to Dark Souls 3 so the basic outline would look good on a phantom, that phantom being Alva as a red invader. Without the glowing aura, it is a far cry from the quality it had in the previous installment.

                                                        • Anonymous

You just have to kill the Alva NPC (gives a weapon on kill) and THEN it allows u to pick up the armor further in the dungeon.
