Basilisk is an Enemy in Dark Souls 3.

This page should be merged with Valinov's Basilisk page and be renamed Basilisk.

Enemy Description

Combat Information

  • Basilisks clearly signal their attacks and their smoke often needs a second to take effect.
  • Moving behind the Basilisk is usually enough to evade the deadly smoke.
  • While they are easy to kill, Basilisks can spot you from a good distance away and run at you very quickly.
  • Expelled gas will curse you, which is an instant kill.
  • Tend to fight in groups, it is best to try and seperate one by one if possible.
  • Can be lured?
  • Can be Rapported?
  • Stacking many curse-resistance items, armors, and spells (Curse Ward Greatshield, Cursebite Ring, Fleshbite Ring,  Prayer Set, Antiquated set, Mossfruit, Profuse Sweat) will allow you to effectively facetank any curse buildup and quite safely clear out groups of basilisks.

They're much worse in Dark Souls 1. If you get cursed there you get half of your health permanently taken away. Well, until you can be "un-cursed" by Ingward (Who lives in a very scary and dangerous place for new players - I'm sure this caused a lot of people to give up) or by using a Purging Stone. On the subject, why don't Purging Stones reduce Curse build up from Basilisks in DS3? Weird.
Isn't it curse resistance you need in Dark Souls 3, not Dark resistance, to stop yourself from getting cursed?
Upping Luck doesn't help any more than any other stat, and I've never heard that upping Dark resistance also ups Curse resistance, I'll have to check. Maybe armour with high Curse resistance also has high Dark resistance?

Probably by far my most hated (and feared) mob in this game (along with the jailors, chain-wielding men-serpents and leaping grhus) ; doging the cloud easy as pie when it's just one one of 'em, but put two of those in a room and I'm running around screaming like a girl, even with dark-resistant gear, you're pretty much screwed if you let them surround you. I was like sweating just hearing their noise before their surprise spawn in the Irithyll dungeon sewer.

fun fact: those big ass eyes are not there real eyes if you look closely at them you will see that they have to smaller eyes on the nose region that I believe are there true eyes and the big eyes are mean't to scare of attackers because nature makes no since

they do not drop titanite scales, someone must have mistaken the titanite scale you acquire in smouldering lake for a basilisk drop

                dem eyes...19 May 2016 17:36

Why does it have big weird eyes? If you look at its mouth, it actually hss natural monster lizard eyes. Besides the huge goofy ones. We need a critical blow from the front where we poke those giant eyes for massive damage and stun. Lore wise, any one know why it needs giant extra eyes? Dark souls 2 Had ones that didnt have giant extra eyes. That looked cooler.
