Blue Sentinels

Blue Sentinels

Faded sheepskin parchment depicting the Darkmoon and a sword. Equip to pledge oneself to the Blue Sentinels covenant.

When a member of the Way of Blue is threatened by a dark spirit, the Blue Sentinels, in compliance with an ancient accord, assume the form of blue spirits, and help to root out the leader.

Summoning takes place automatically while this is equipped."

Blue Sentinels is a Covenant in Dark Souls 3. The covenant can be gained by equipping the item Blue Sentinels which is obtained from Anri of Astora and Horace the Hushed. While a member of the Covenant, Blue Sentinels will be summoned to help you defend against invaders.

Blue Sentinels Information

 Notes

  • When a Darkmoon/Blue Sentinel spawns, a floating red eye will appear locating an invader or Blue spirit, depending on whether the player is an invader or Blue spirit. This floating red eye that locates invaders was previously a miracle in Dark Souls II, called Unveil.

Effects of covenant

  • Blue Sentinels will be summoned into the worlds of those in the Way of Blue to defend them from hostile invaders. This behavior is shared with the Blades of the Darkmoon
  • Inexplicably Blue Sentinels will NOT be summoned to protect a player against invading Aldrich Faithful defending Anor Londo or Watchdogs of Farron in the swamps.
  • The Blue Sentinels phantom color is light blue.
  • If the Host of Embers enters a boss room, the Blue Sentinel will be rewarded with a Proof of a Concord Kept and be returned to their world. They will NOT remain to challenge the boss.
  • If the invader is killed by the giant with the greatbow (on the high tower) in the Undead Settlement, the Blue Sentinel will NOT be rewarded a Proof of a Concord Kept. However, they will still get the same victory message.
  • The Matchmaking Formula is Covenant Dependent:

Condition Min Max
Summoning a White Phantom, Warrior of Sunlight, Mound-Maker or no covenant Host - 10 - (Host * 0.1) Host + 10 + (Host * 0.1)
Defending Summons of Blade of the Darkmoon or Blue Sentinel Host - 20 - (Host * 0.2) Host + (Host * 0.1)

Rank Requirements

This Covenant shares Ranks with the Blades of the Darkmoon. To rank up the player will need Proof of a Concord Kept. To acquire Proof of a Concord Kept a player must be summoned while having their Blue Sentinel badge equipped and successfully defeat an invading phantom. If the player defeats more than one invading phantom while summoned they will acquire more Proof of a Concord Kept. The player is sent home when all invaders are banished. They can also be received as a drop from Silver Knight in Anor Londo (Rare). The rank requirements are additive, meaning you only have to earn a total of 30, not 10 and then another 30, to obtain all covenant rewards.

Rank Requirement Rewards
0 Initial None
1 10 Darkmoon Ring  (Grants 2 additional attunement slots.)
2 30 Darkmoon Blade (Miracle)

To rank up the player must turn these into Company Captain Yorshka in Anor Londo. She is located in a tower across an invisible walkway near the first bonfire there.

I'm still new to the game and equipped this instead of Way of Blue by mistake to get protection when I got invaded. The invader returned home at some point but I just kept this equipped. At some point I got a message that I'm getting summoned, I was like "wut?".

If I get summoned and you just stand there, I'm leaving. I'm not referring to fight clubs. You idiots know who you are. I play it literally as I'm there to help you. If you legit want help, then step tf up and do your part. I wish you could turn on crap hosts and join the invader's side.

If both Darkmoon blades and way of the blue do the same thing why bother having the two?
I was a huge fan of the Sin count in ds1
Sentinels should be summoned to protect the host and darkmoons to take revenge.
You get the same item from accomplishing the duty but the duty varies on which covenant you are in.

Got summoned with this equipped and was the one who got ganked, two invaders and a host sitting back and doing nothing. What’s up with that?

All those gank defenders and people still asks why elden ring started pvp with such a mess... for this kind of sht is why i couldn't care less about the servers going down.

I think everyone can agree that this covenant sucks- the blues don't have fun(pointless grinding, geting black crystaled the second you join, etc.), the reds don't have fun(getting ganked yet again), the hosts don't have fun(the invaders getting free estus refills).

In the words of reggie, if it's not fun, why bother?

                          • Anonymous

Why are hosts just allowed to hide for all eternity and wait for 2 blues to be summoned just to gank one invader. fu₵k from software

The only way a blue can be useful is if they hide behind host or phantom and shoot arrows and throw bombs.

There aren't red invaders anymore. They took quite long to realize, but red eye orb invasions are a complete waste of time thanks to how poorly handled pvp is, so they aren't doing it anymore. Idk what's the surprise about.

So I've got it done under 4 hours of farming. But do you know how many of them did I get from PVP and how many from actual farming? I got about 7 from killing the knights, having the first hour without any drop at all, rest was just being summoned. I've been recently doing 100% Dark Souls 2, farming the covenants there was nothing compared to this, I can't imagine doing it without the online part...

i just waited 30 minutes trying to get summoned, put my summon sign down and was IMMEDIATLY summoned as a white phantom. Then, the host gets invaded like 10 seconds after i spawn in AND GUESS WHO SHOWS UP: THATS RIGHT, A DIFFERENT BLUE SPIRIT TO HELP US. god ****ing damnnit

i finally get summoned only to be summoned into a twinking hosts world who black crystals me out mid fight. You dumb mother****ers don’t deserve anything

About 50 hours into the game at SL90 (about 20% of that was farming). Just beat every boss, etc. next move would be NG+. I want to get into PVP, ultimately invasions. Would the Blue crew be a good starting point?

The problem isn't that the covenant punishes twinks with fully optimized endgame gear that invade in the first area, it's that even when you're invading 3 people by yourself they can still be summoned

                                          • Anonymous

I don't know how to play this game because I got my overleveled friends to help me through the entire f-ing game because I suck at vidya, so I specced a quality build, equipped this covenant and slam my poise weapons into invaders 3-5 VS 1, so now I'm good at the game, a true Blue Sentinel. Can anyone help and tell me what a parried is though?

why 9/10 blues are just stupid cows? like really, they all are so brainded, see blue getting summoned- prepare for free estus

So here I am standing like an idiot at sl25 with blue sentinels equipped, hoping to get summoned for like 30 minutes now with no luck, while getting tons of blue phantoms spawning and getting ganked whenever I invade.

                                                  • this wiki mixed up darkmoons and sentinels, this wiki says darkmoon are dark blue and sentinels are light blue while its actually the opposite.

                                                    • Anonymous

What happens to the blues when a mound maker kills the hosts summons and wins, but the host is still alive? Do the get a reward? Do they get a victory message and no reward? or is it the same as when the host dies?

                                                      • Anonymous

I'm actually trying to get the trophy Master of Miracle and Master of Ring, but the blade of the Darkmoon and the blue sentinels are just useless. And From software is just unfair woth the drop rate of the items. Am I wrong ?

                                                        • Anonymous

I honestly don’t know why some invaders complain about getting ganked. When I invade, I do so specifically so I can fight against multiple opponents. If I want to duel, I go to a fight club or Undead Arena. Why would you invade when you’re looking for a duel? Covenant items can still be farmed from putting down your red soapstone at pontiff since there are still a ton of hosts looking to duel there. Embers can be farmed from co op or just pve. I just don’t understand the mentality against invading ganks.

If I am a member of the Blue Sentinels and I invade a player, do I get a proof of Concord if I kill the host?
Killing a host as an invading Sunbro does reward you with a sunlight medal.

I'm sorry but Blue Sentinel are the New version of the blade of the darkmoon. And yet people are complaining it's just a game we just need to adapt and trying to use\ know the environment to where we are batlelling.

Started farming Concords, i don't gank, f*ck this covenant. I cannot do this, its just exudes toxicity. I choose honor and etiquette over this. I guess farming Silver Knight it will be.

                                                                • Anonymous

In DS3, most are so helpless it flipped the script around, merely an annoyance to invaders while the host is actually the one protecting them from themselves.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

I ask because i sat around for 10+ minutes watching my covenant tablet next to my HP flash and nothing happened.

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

I hate the "the host just wants to progress throughout the game" excuse. 1. Invasions are part of the game's progression. It's the price of maximum health increased. 2. If that were true, the host wouldn't stick around with 2 more white phantoms in an area where they already defeated the boss. 3. Offline mode is there for a reason.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Every time I invade one or two blues are instantly summoned by hosts, 50% of which aren't even progressing through the game. I understand that casters want the Darkmoon ring and DMB, but when I see a Blue that is a Strength, Dex or Quality build, I just don't understand why they are even in the pact. I was a Blue too when I had to farm for the pact, but then I ditched it into the toilet once I had the ring and DMB. Guess people like to gank, duh.

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

The rate at which this game provides blues plus how easy it is to simply run/dodge indefinitely is frustrating. For a single invader against a single host, the invader has a few disadvantages as they should, and it's understandable to have the threat of blues being summoned to ensure the invader doesn't just wait in mobs indefinitely. However, the game will provide a lone host with three blues within minutes, regardless of how many invaders there are, which is a bit excessive and will it continue doing so even if the invader kills any along the way. Each new blue comes with a fresh load of estus while the invader gets only one in return for defeating them, making invasions unwinnable wars of attrition unless the invader is perfect at rolling backstabs and reaction parries. Even if you overcome the endless blues, the host can just run while using the Ring of Favour exploit for infinite stamina until they get 3 more blues.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Bruh just get better at invading (actually practice backstabs and parrys). When I put this on and actually get summoned, it's an easy Concord kept. Invading is supposed to be a ***** too. Use the environment to your advantage, practice pvp with a friend and stop complaining.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

As an invader, I can just jump into the next invasion immediately. Blues need to wait like 20 minutes between their ganks. Fun police the fun police! When blues are about, Black Crystal out!

                                                                                        • Anonymous

The real problem is the current late state of this dying game is invasions now are you coming into a pre set bank world. Out of 3 hours of invasions from the day before writing this I had two legitimate invasions. All other invasions were straight into pre-made ganks 3 people two over leveled with no pve mobs anywhere to be seen. And don’t even get me started on all the troll ganks going now. Summon in see a red l1 waggle you follow him into a ganking trap. Stfu about blues half of them are over eager cause they are never summoned and get roll caught or parried into the ground. Summoned ganks are the real issue

Is it just random or do I have to put down a mark? And the little octagon in the top left corner of my screen keeps flashing what does that mean?

                                                                                              • Anonymous

What's with the salt in the comments? Confident hosts don't rely on summons, so if you invade a player that brings a blue, you already know you're disrupting their PvE. That's literally the point of invasions. Nobody wants you there. That's the fun part. If you want fair fights, either hope you invade a good player or use a summon sign. You're not fighter pl, you're probably gonna lose a lot of invasions anyway

                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Hi! As a WACKY fun fact: There are other ways to do PVP than to just invade others, for instance there are multiple spots you can put a summon sign down for pvp and some covenants, they even have arenas and stuff like that If you are invading someone, especially if they have a friend, you are more than likely just messing up their PvE/Co-Op experience and you aren't entitled to anything whatsoever when you invade, You are in THEIR world and are most likely just disrupting everything.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

I really dont understand why people hate this covenant. You like PvP? Theres a hole covenant just for that. Go there and have a fair match against them. But no, they actually want to fight a random newbie trying to finish the game, and get mad because someone comes to help the new player.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

NK has a cut 3rd soul transposition so that means a dragon covenant was supposed to be a thing? That's false logic. Would you transpose a covenant from his soul? The trend is that you get weapons/shields/magic from boss souls. Though, i DO agree that a dragon covenant might have been cut, just for different reasons. There are multiple mentionings of a dragon cult and an area dedicated to them with their worship gesture being the key to said area. The DS games have had a dragon covenant in both DS and DS2 with the rewards being the dragon body set, said body set is obtainable in DS3 from a character quest centered around dragon worship and the dragon area. There could've been a covenant there to get the items, the battles with the Ancient Wyvern and Hawkwood serving as the method through which you get the items necessary to offer to the covenant for the body pieces, but instead Hawkwood and the boss were given the rewards to drop. Or the game could be exactly how they wanted it in this regard, i just find it hard to believe that they weren't planning to implement a dragon covenant in their 3rd installment when dragon lore is still so heavy in this game, even having a place in Lothric lore with the knights having tamed wyverns and the Lightning Stoneplate Ring's item description, even though they had put the covenant in the last two.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

I wonder if, between the Blue Sentinels and the Blades of the Darkmoon, one was intended to function as they do now (i.e. similarly to the Blue Sentinels in DS2, summoned automatically), and one was intended to function similarly to the Blades in DS1, with a Blue Eye Orb to invade the indicted/sinners, and Fromsoft just wound up running out of time like they did with the nixed Dragon covenant in DS3 (i.e. the reason NK's soul has 3 rewards - at least 1 was almost certainly intended for covenant rewards for the dragon covenant) and merged them. Perhaps they didn't view reimplementing indictments as a priority? Idk.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

They get to go 2v1 on my arse and I can do absolutely everyhting to stop them. And after a really tough fight with lots of skill, i will get 173 souls. Horseshite

I mean if me and a friend have the same password, if someone invades him (using the right covenant)... will I be summoned? Or at least have some preference for helping him?

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

I get my first half of concords this way. What's key is to keep the host from following sad little *****weed invaders into groups of enemies; it's good to have the HEY gesture for this purpose. Hope that the host is smart enough to have spammed for Seed of a giants tree after encountering Hodrick and twinks in the undead settlement; and the Ratdogs from the swamp. At these low levels poison is threatening enough to be validated, and works good to ward off invaders; it makes going and getting the Dreamchaser's ashes worth it, especially if you're running something like Uchigatana or any strait sword. Dagger builds can be dangerous but don't waste stamina or FP using quickstep. Instead run in and get backstabs when they get trigger happy on the host or on Phantoms. They can call us a gank covenant all they want. Wear it proudly; it's proof that invaders lose >:D

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Too many times, I get summoned in Grand Archives or Untended Graves and my buddy cop breaks all the shit around the host or starts yelling to draw the invader's attention to the host. Please remember, if your dumb ass gets the host killed, you get nothing. Better to fight the invader alone, than risk the invader ignoring you too kill the host. Y'know, because they absolutely will.

                                                                                                                            • Anonymous

Only because he saw the invader is half health. In these situations I just stop helping them and squat down to watch the host die a horrible death in the distance. Occasionally I give the invader a round of applause. Seriously hosts, please dont mindlessly charge into the enemies when an invader is around, use firebombs, bows or even sorceries. Jesus Chirst
