Bonewheel Shield is a Shield in Dark Souls 3.




A giant wooden wheel, encircled by spikes and half-melded to a strange skeleton. Can serve as a makeshift greatshield, albeit one with great great gaps. Legend holds that the Lord of the Dead wanted only baby skulls for this shield during the war against dragons, because they were the roundest. Its true value is revealed through use of its Skill.

Skill: Wheel of Fate
Thrust out the wheel and give it a good spin, shredding enemies with the outer lining of spikes.





Notes and Tips:

  • Can be Infused but cannot be Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Titanite.
  • Provides an average block of 67.8%.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      When you say it can't be buffed, you must be referring to weapon buffs. It can, however, be buffed with Magic Shield and Great Magic Shield, as it is, in fact, a shield lol

          I have been playing with my character MICHELIN-MAN for a while, and I've always used the great club or any big weapon. But now that I think about it, it would look better and be more challenging if I used only a +10 heavy Bonewheel Shield two handed. Ps: this Michelin has a face, it's not just the big ol' onion armor of Catarina.

            Underrated as a weapon IMO. Can be used two-handed as a heavy defensive weapon on strength builds, or spun to inflict bleed almost instantly on a luck build.

                I'm planning on making a cleric that mostly is a cooperative player, but I want this shield for fashion and protective purposes. Should I infuse it with lightning? My planned stats would be 30 Str and 45 faith (or whatever you need to use Soothing sunlight and the like).

                  Wheel of Fate is great for delivering Bleed, with its multi-hit schtick and accompanying block; the slightly lessened damage absorption is unfortunate, but if you time it right, you can land the WoF on a charging enemy to simultaneously block and counter.

                    To those who compare this to the logarius wheel, it is not. This comes from something much more terrifying than anything in bloodborne. Until you play dark souls 1 you will never know the terror that were bonewheel skeletons.

                      with 11 luck (Item discovery 111) It took me about 10-12 tries killing all 4 bone-wheel skeletons in the catacombs to get one shield. Totally worth it as I find this shield blocks 100% of damage from most enemies, except it seems to be a bit weak to fire and magic damage, and gives off incredible poise while wearing heavy-ish armour.

                        Wheel of Fate hits around four times in rapid succession, acts as a block while active (at least against arrows; more testing needed to try for melee), and consumes the entire stamina bar in chunks. It also seems to spin the same amount of time/damage regardless of how much stamina is spent on it. Usage speed-wise: When an attack rebounds, Wheel of Fate can often be activated quickly enough to hit in the opening.I'm actually really looking forward to getting Bleed on it, given the burst of hits it does; it's a surprisingly capable shield, and the Wheel is just ***** fun. It also deals a surprisingly decent amount of damage - at +6, with no infusions, Wheel of Fate is hitting the dregs in Lothric High Wall for around half of what my Refined Carthus Curved Sword +10 is doing with 35 Strength and Dexterity; if it keeps getting better, I might have to make it a Hollow or Refined infusion instead.

                          Could appreciate from raising the drop rates for rare items abit, this and symbol of avarice are a ***** to getWell at least the bone wheels got nerfed, they no longer seem to stunlock you to death
