Chaos Blade is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

A cursed sword of unknown origin bearing uncanny streaks on its blade.

Attacks also damage its wielder.

The sword is not unlike a thing misshappen, granted life, but never welcome in this world. In other words, chaos itself.

Skill: Hold
Assume a holding stance to rapidly execute a lunging slash with normal attack, or a deflecting parry with strong attack.

Notes and Tips

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Upgrades with Twinkling Titanite.
  • Damages the wielder with each strike (≈1% of HP), but inflicts more bleeding than other Katanas and has potentially the highest damage.
  • At maximum refinement the Chaos Blade has S scaling in Dex and high base damage making it potentially the highest damaging katana in the game for Dex builds.
  • The HP loss can be countered with varying efficiency by the Sun Princess Ring, Ring of the Evil Eye, Pontiff's Left Eye and spells like ReplenishmentBountiful Light and Bountiful Sunlight.
  • Ripostes & Backstabs won't trigger the damage per strike. Useful to keep the Lloyd's Sword Ring buff.
  • At 79 LCK the Chaos Blade +5 has 51 Bleed.
  • Used by the Sword Master instead of the Uchigatana when the Sword Master is summoned at Untended Graves.

It's a myth that the Chaos Blade has better parry frames. Uchigatana, Black Blade & Chaos blade all have the same parry frames, frame 8.0 - 16.1 @60fps. Washing pole actually has the longest parry window, 8.0 - 16.3 @60fps. For comparison, Caetus is 8.1 - 16.3, however it has an extra 2 frame recovery time (30 vs 28.1) and the katanas get a damage absorption bonus while using the parry, making them a little safer to use

How to completely shut down C.B users. Step one: use Artorias' shield. Step two: Turtle the entire fight. Step three: Win.

I personally don’t understand how this weapon is good enough that it makes you ok with damaging yourself every attack, can someone tell me?

Has an AR of 490 on 99 Dex. With the Flynn's Ring The AR can go up to 550 and with most low weight armors you will get about 520 (Ring of Steel Protection is recommended). The combo of Great Sword level dmg, Bleed, handy moveset and fast attacks is insane. I had a really good time shredding through PvE with this weapon.

How do I increase the blood damage on this thing? Ah right Bloodtinge is Luck now, my bad. At least the honorable servants of cainhurst castle brought me that beloved Chikage to chop some Old-Blood's.

Memories broken, the truth goes unspoken. I've even forgotten my name! I don't know the season or what is the reason I'm standing here holding my blade. A desolate place without any trace. It's only the cold win I feel... It's me that I spite as I stand up and fight. The only thing I know for real: There will be blood - Shed!

IDK why they put "a cursed sword of unknown origin" in it's description when we literally forge the chaos blade from the soul of Quelaag in DS1

No idea wat it is but this by far my favorite katana. Maybe it’s the looks and damage I’m just not sure

                      I was just reading up about this weapon, and actually traced it's origin. it was transposed from the soul of Quelaag, one of the surviving daughters of the witch of Izalith. read this;

A curved sword born from the soul of
Quelaag, daughter of the Witch of Izalith,
who was transformed into a chaos demon.
This blade inherits only the chaotic nature
of Quelaag, and has a unique speckled design.
Blade wielder erodes along with opponents.

it says the health loss doesn't happen on ripostes and backstabs, but i still lost some hp when i messed around in firelink and backstabbed one of the weak hollows

Is it worth noting, that the Sword Master uses this at the Champion Gundyr's fight? If you summon him, you can see the lifedrain everytime he hits Gundyr

Seems to be based on the Hiltless from Demons Souls. It description says "forged by a famous swordsmith in a distant country". Would guess this has to be Muramasa then. His swords are known to be cursed ones. Like the Chaos Blade is cursed too.

"When its unique, long blade meets skin, it tears it apart into a wound that is said will never heal. It is a cursed weapon that devours the wielder's life energy, but despite this, warriors continue to be drawn to this katana."

Sharp Black Blade is better, same AR but can be buffed. Although it's range is shorter and it doesn't damage you.

With the Frayed blade, this is no longer true :"At maximum refinement the Chaos Blade has S scaling in Dex and high base damage making it potentially the highest damaging katana in the game for Dex builds."
