Claymore is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.
An unusually large and heavy greatsword normally wielded with two hands.
This highly versatile weapon can be swung broadly or thrusted.
Skill: Stance
While in stance, use normal attacks to break a foe's guard from below, and strong attack to slash upwards with a forward lunge.
Notes and Tips:
- Can be Infused and Buffed.
- Reinforced with Titanite.
- All weapons have motion values assigned to each attack, which are modifiers to AR that are associated with the attack being used.
- All Greatswords have a motion value of 195 on backstab, 245 on riposte, and 60 + 220 on Hornet Ring riposte. The motion value of a Greatsword does not change with Hornet Ring.
- The Claymore has a range of 33.5575xl on the 1h R1 and 36.4122xl on the 2h R1.
- The Claymore has Thrusting R2s when 2h.
- Greatswords are a weapon class that utilizes Hyper Armor on the 2h R1, R2, Rolling R1, Rolling R2, Running R1, and Jumping Attack. Hyper Armor prevents you from being staggered during its active frames.
- Note that this information is all measured in frames per second (FPS).
- Less FPS means a faster action. If you play on console at 30 FPS, the displayed values will be halved.
- It is also important to note that while this is not the frame data for attack speed and recovery, those values are fairly similar to the ones listed.

- Poise is a modifier to how effective Hyper Armor can be at preventing stagger.
- Poise health is another component of Hyper Armor. Most standard attacks reset your poise health to 80%, most weapon arts reset it to 100%, and waiting around 30 seconds without getting hit will also reset to 100%. What this means is that there are two different poise breakpoints that you need to keep in mind; there is an "infinite trade" breakpoint and a "trade once with reset" breakpoint, both of which are displayed in the poise calculator. As I mentioned above, most weapon arts reset your poise health to full, but not all.
- The poise required for Greatswords to avoid being staggered by certain attacks is as follows:

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. At 80 STR and 13 DEX, a two-handed Heavy Claymore has an AR of 554.
At 40 STR and 40 DEX, a two-handed Refined Claymore has an AR of 524.
At 16 STR and 80 DEX, a two-handed Sharp Claymore has an AR of 557.
Go DEX + Sharp if you want to maximize for damage.

Weapon art R2 followed by a normal R2 makes a combo of two deadly thrust attacks. The first one can tank through a two handed R1 dragonslayer great axe (just tested it in the arena). That's a knife.

Ended up 4 shotting Pontiff with a riposte and 3 charged heavy attack with a Crystal claymore. Had 30 in INT and 22 in Strength. 100% the easiest Pontiff fight I've ever had.

Pretty mediocre late game, as there are better options for Heavy Weapons for most builds (Greatsword is better for Strength, Astora is better for Quality or Dex, Bastard Sword is easier for casters to pick up) but it's a fun early-game weapon. Lets you bully the Lothric Knights by easily breaking their poise. and one-shot almost everything else on the High Wall of Lothric.

This is…a beautiful weapon, there is something so simple, yet so complexly beautiful about it.
It is able to be encompassed on ANY build possible, STR? Go ahead, QUALITY? Perfect choice, INT or FAITH? This is your bae hell, even LCK.
Weather you buff it with Resins or infuse with precious Gems, this weapon will never let you down. The move set and Weapon Art is excellent for its class and it has just enough poise to keep you alive in Lothric.
Alongside The Moonlight Greatsword and the Broadsword, this is a staple in the Dark Souls series.

people be abusing this thing’s phantom range in pvp, and it’s pretty annoying tbh. yeah, spacing is a legit skill but i see a lot of people soley relying on exploiting phantom range. ez tip: switch to a mace or any perserverance WA, it’ll maks fighting a good claymore player a lot less frustrating.

The Claymore more like the LAMEmore LOL! Imagine using this garbage when you can use the PKCS instead. This weapon is so laughably slow. You can't even reaction roll catch with it LOL! I've read through comments on A LOT of weapons here on this site and every one has "great for casuals", "try hard", "meta", "noob weapon", etc. Seems like every weapon comes with a little sprinkling of salt! Claymore is as basic, no thrills, if you're decent at the game you will make it weapon in the game. No special tricks required just timing and don't get greedy. Now weapons like the PKCS or straight swords deserve some salt because it's just a matter of endurance and taking potassium so that your R1 finger doesn't cramp out to win.

Something tells me hitting a counter hit on someone with this things R2 or WA R2 with leo ring on will really hurt... red tearstone and morion aswell to add spice... think I just got myself a build idea here.

very good sword I killed 5 twinks with it all of them around SL 20-30 , all of my niggas had around 1100 HP as an invader and did like 200 dmg with some shitty axe so ye it felt kinda good killing some twinks

To the people who say this weapon is op, I say get good. A noob doesn't know how to use this weapon, the true beauty in it is the spacing. But yes, a lkss or pkcs is better, but the claymore isn't op, it's fun.

Can never go wrong the Claymore, no matter the game. Better damage, stagger, and hyperarmor than a regular sword, but not so agonizingly slow and stamina hungry as an ultra greatsword. Ahh, old reliable, you never let me down.

The most balanced weapon in the saga, far from being the best, far from being the worst, the moveset is versatile and works well with a lot of builds c:

pros:
1. good moveset with sweeping r1s and thurst r2s
2. good damage output, heavy infusion 66/13 is 554 AR, refined 40/40 is 524 AR, sharp 16/60 is 513 AR, best physical infusion for stats expended is heavy
3. can be buffed and infused and works well with all elemental infusions, stat requirments and also average to low for a GS
4. long weapon so easier to do spacing and roll catch

Other: A versatile weapon with good moveset and good damage. I cant find a flaw for this weapon except the general flaws of it s class. Good for area pve, due to moveset and poise damage, decent option for bosses as well. One of the Best GS for pvp being versatile, having low stat requirments and average stam consumtion per swing. There is not much to say about this GS, it is a jack of all trades and a damn good one. It does not have the highest damage of GS, but it s very close, not the best moveset of GS, but it s very close and so on....It feels just too normal, powerfull but nothing unique.
Still a very good choice due to it s efficiency and a strong contender for the best GS in the game!

You guys just choose to live in denial and it shows. I mean what other way should it be expressed than PKCS IS THE BEST WEAPON IN THE GAME. This weapon is so overused and abused that I would hate to be the weapon itself.

The perfect transition weapon when going from a one-handed playstyle to two-handed. It retains a lot of the quirks that basic weapons like the Longsword has (wide swing, a stabbing R2, a decent speed) while beginning to access the quirks of Greatsword class weapons (staggers enemies, poise starts to matter), making the switch elegant and simple.
Just watch the stamina usage. You need at least 20 endurance to be able to swing a few times and still have enough to dodge, and that's if you're using none of your stamina for anything else. If you're a newcomer still relying on a shield for blocking in PvE, this means you have to limit your swings to still be able to shrug off a boss' blow until you either learn to dodge or gather more stamina to play with.
It's only downside may be that it's somewhat unremarkable. It can roll catch, but perhaps only if you're close enough. Its hair slower speed makes weapon buffs a touch less strong. Its weapon art is one of the generic ones, and though comes with juicy poise, can be somewhat easy to see coming. It also lacks a way to chase runners, as it doesn't have the reach of Halberds or the quick swipe that Rapiers have on their respective dash attacks. Still, for 95% of content, it's hard to find anything better - no wonder it's used in all three DS games.

Probably the most versatile and consistent greatsword in the series. No matter what your stats are there's probably a Claymore infusion that can work for you.
Definitely the Chad's weapon of choice.

to people who say claymore is trash and only noobs use it: i am in ng+3 and my heavy +10 claymore has stayed viable and consistently powerful the entire game, not a single weapon has out damaged it and it only grows more powerful as i git more gud. stop acting like a child and let people use what weapons they want, its a damn video game
