Demon in Pain & Demon from Below is a Boss in Dark Souls 3. It is part of The Ringed City DLC. This Dark Souls 3 Demon in Pain & Demon from Below Guide features locations, strategies and videos on how to defeat the two demons easily, as well as tips, weaknesses, trivia and lore notes for the Demon in Pain and Demon from Below boss.

The Demon in Pain and Demon from Below are two massive demons that players have to battle at the same time. Players can tell the difference between the two by their face - first one has eyes covered with a "sheet" of demonic skin, while the second one's eyes are clearly visible. More noticeably, the Demon in Pain is red, while the Demon from Below is orange. After defeating the last demon, fire gathers inside its corpse and a few seconds later, there is an explosion with a small AoE revealing the Demon Prince - the second part of the boss fight.

Managing both demons at the same time will be the most challenging part of this boss phase, and so it is recommended to focus on one of them and burn them down quickly. Like all DLC bosses, this boss is optional to finish the base game, however they must be defeated in order to reach The Ringed City. Two NPCs can be summoned to help you in the fight against the Demon in Pain & Demon from Below:

  • Slave Knight Gael - Summon can be found beside the Bonfire before the fight.
  • Lapp - Summon can be found on the ledge before you drop down.

Bosses are unique and challenging Enemies that drop Boss Souls capable of being transformed into powerful Weapons, Spells, and Items for the player.

Demon in Pain & Demon from Below Notes & Tips

What should you know about fighting Demon in Pain & Demon from Below in Dark Souls 3?

  • Up to 3 NPC/players can be summoned for this fight. However - due to high health pool it is recommended to bring no more than 1 phantom.
  • Summoned phantoms can't enter the ledge from which they fall to the boss fight area, until both demons are awake.
  • If players are summoned, host should - if possible - lure demon near drop place, so falling phantoms could score a free hit.
  • Weak to Slash Damage and Black Knight's weapons (Greatsword, Sword, Greataxe, Glaive).
  • Highly resistant to Fire Damage.
  • Immune to Frostbite and Poison/Toxic.
  • Parriable: No.
  • With enough hits can be staggered, what gives an opportunity to perform critical strike dealing significant damage.
  • Most of the demons' attacks are slower than they look. Do not be afraid to wait for signs of an attack. Rolling after you get hit will most likely cause you to get hit AGAIN.
  • Demon's attacks deal Fire Damage and physical damage (Slash?). Demon in "burnt out mode" may also inflict toxic, therefore it is recommended to bring items/spells that cure toxicity.
  • Breaking Demon's poise will stop transformation from "burnt out" mode to "flaming" mode.
  • Transformation from "flaming" mode to "burnt out" mode causes Demon to stop for a few seconds.
  • They both have same HP and take the same amount of damage, no difference when either in flaming mode or burnt out mode.

Dark Souls 3 Demon in Pain & Demon from Below Boss Guide & Strategies

DS3 Demon in Pain & Demon from Below Video Strategy

Both demons have 2 similar modes that they can switch to and from, each having unique movesets.

Flaming mode: Easy to tell as the demon will be glowing. In this mode it will be aggressive and charge towards you, unleashing melee attacks. After one demon dies, the remaining one will automatically enter flaming mode, if burnt out prior.

Burnt out mode: After unleashing a fiery smash, a flaming demon will exhaust its flames and look burnt out. The demon will then attack you with toxic ranged attacks and claw you if you get too close.

The fight will start with 1 in flaming mode, the other in burnt out mode. The other will enter into flaming mode after 15-20 seconds after engaging, so be wary. It is recommended to focus on the flaming demon first as the range attacks from the burnt out one is easily dodgeable. Depending on the situation, both demons may either be Flaming or Burnt Out at the same time, which, the former being the most troublesome to deal with.

If you want to summon phantoms for this fight, it is best to summon only ONE at most, to take care of one of the two demons, and you taking care of the other. Fighting one of them is considerably easy and summoning numerous phantoms is only going to make the second phase even harder.

A basic strategy is to dodge under the flaming demon(s) as their frontal claw attack leaves them completely open, which is extremely easy to dodge.

Both demons can be staggered and are vulnerable to critical attacks, just don't do it unless you have any of these things: High AR, high crit weapon or Hornet Ring. You're better off getting in extra hits with your weapon or spells.

A viable strategy for Host of Embers summoning phantoms: Lure the demon(s) to the opening where you first drop. Your fellow phantoms have a chance to get a plunging attack off if positioned correctly, as they can drop down whenever they wish to.

DS3 Demon in Pain & Demon From Below Attacks

Demon in Pain & Demon from Below has 2 different attack modes, "burnt out" and "flame".

Frontal Leap (Flaming) The starting move that the first flaming demon whips out at the start of the boss right, will repeat if you are too far away. Easy to dodge.
Claw Swipe Combo (Flaming & Burnt out) The demon(s) will most likely use this move the most. Depending on your position, the demon may transition into a combo, possibly ending the combo with an overhead smash. Flaming mode has added damage with noticeable effects (Fire claw trails)
Claw Uppercut (Flaming & Burnt out) The demon(s) will drag its claw along the ground and do an upward attack.
Charging Frenzy (Flaming) The flaming demon(s) will charge forwards and claw in front of him repeatedly. NOTE: At the end of his combo he will do a smash with his left arm, transitioning to a backwards swipe, be wary when dodging his charge.
Downward smash (Flaming & Burnt out) Demon stands up and winds up for a downward smash.
Flaming smash (Flaming) A fiery variant of his normal downward smash, has larger AoE and damage. Upon executing this attack, the demon will enter burnt out mode, leaving itself vulnerable for a few seconds.
Toxic flames (Burnt out) The demon unleashes a trail of purple flames that will apply toxic buildup. Easily recognized by the purple particles that appear on the ground.
Toxic breath (Burnt out) At mid-range the demon will breathe out toxic fumes that will apply rapid toxic buildup AND damage you.
Toxic Spit (Burnt out) Spit that applies toxic buildup and damages slightly.

How to fight the Demon in Pain & Demon From Below

Strategy 1 (Melee)

*For more info, go to the Demon Prince page on this site*

Both demons are prone to stagger which opens up a critical attack chance (Visceral attack for bloodborners). It is easy to dodge attacks both from the flaming and burnt out demon if you are observant as they are very slow. Do NOT get greedy with your attacks, especially heavy weapon users. If hit by the toxic breath you will get staggered and get toxic buildup, leaving you open to attacks and possibility of getting stunlocked. Same goes when both demons are flaming, getting stunlocked is possible.

Bring a weapon with bleed as the demons are weak to it.

Slave Knight Gael and Amnesiac Lapp are both summonable for this fight. Given that the player is using a weapon with an AR of 410+ and very fast speed (Example: +10 Refined Broadsword with 40/32 STR/DEX), I would recommend using both, as they heal themselves constantly, and draw tons of aggro.

In conjunction, the below includes a playbook:

  1. The boss fight will open up with both the Demon In Pain, which is on the right, and Demon From Below, which is on the left. The Demon From Below will be glowing a bright color, and this is a sign that he is doing melee attacks, and berserking at you. He will start off with a delayed jump attack. Roll into his safe spot, which is his rear and side pelvic region, and get in some hits.

    2. In some moments, the Demon From Below will stop glowing, but his brother will start to glow. This means you should focus on the currently glowing brother, as you have to kill both enemies anyway. When a demon is spraying toxic, he is more open to being hit, but it is easy to get flanked by the berserking demon. If you can, hit the demon's head to stun and riposte him for bonus damage. If you can, try to kite the demon who is charging and throwing melee attacks at you so they are separated.

    3. This fight is largely about timing stamina. The bosses want you to think that you can deplete your meter, but their follow up combos are extremely powerful (600-900HP damage per attack easy) and you really don't want to get hit by those. Using a shield here will be foolish, as your stamina will be too drained to do the maximum of five rolls needed to attack.

    4. The timing for these demons' attacks is among the most irregular in the whole game. You have to really be conscious about your dodges because the Demons try to roll-catch, and wait for you to dodge so they can hit you on recovery.

    5. Still talking phase one, the demons will alternate between glowing bright while berserking and going passive, so once you punish, get in position to efficiently attack the other Demon. Sometimes, they will both berserk. During those times, just back off, focus on avoiding damage, and let one of them calm down so he won't interrupt you while you are hitting the berserking Demon. Two things you can also do is (again) use the charging demon to separate from the other demon, to buy you some time for hits, as these demons are most dangerous when they are together, hitting you. If you have the charging demon blocking the other demon, you can hit the body part closest to you to minimize the chance of being hit. Very often, hitting the distal portion of its arm will allow you to hit without being hit through the demon's body, or "wall-banged", by the other demon.

    6. Now for phase two. The Demon's special attack is either going to be a persisting beam, or a shower of fireballs, followed by an AOE, and floating chaos fireballs. It doesn't matter which one you kill first, but the laser bearm demon (Demon From Below, I think) has a much bigger opening, as he is sedentary for about ten seconds while he is firing his laser in a three attack combo (which, I think ends in an AOE). Again, always leave enough stamina to dodge roll up to five times, because any of the three Demons in this fight can kill you in two hits, easy.

    7. For all three parts of the fight (two demons, one demon, then demon prince), keep your punishments short, and focus on out-lasting the bosses. Put the rest of your focus on dodging their insanely fast attacks, as well. The Demon Prince (third phase) has an attack where he flies and swoops down, grinding his claws into the ground. For this attack, since there is somewhat of a strange zone of effect, dodge rolling to the sides works much better than to the front and back.

    8. The Demons have a berserk attack where they march toward you, and claw into the ground, repeatedly, much like how a gorilla gallops on its knuckles when it is trying to scare off something. Trying to dodge only one claw saves more stamina than trying to dodge both!

Strategy 2 (Pyromancers)

This fight is probably going to be tough for pure pyromancers. However, with minimum requirements, one can make use of weapons that scales with int/fth such as the Onyx Blade or the Moonlight Greatsword, or even weapons infused with Crystal, Blessed, Lightning, or Dark gems. For those who have considerable investment in faith may consider using offensive miracles as well. An alternative is to bring Dorhys' Gnawing along.

Alternatively, use Dark Fire Orb which has a faster casting time than Dorhys' Gnawing and does more damage. Pyromancers may find it useful to equip Lloyd's Sword Ring and the Dark Clutch Ring in addition to the usual Witch and Great Swamp rings to maximize damage. Sage ring will probably be less useful at this level (even the +2 version) since most players at this level will probably have at least 20 DEX. Though the flaming demon will be the more aggressive, it is probably advisable to dispatch the first demon attacked, while keeping an eye on the movements of the other, in order to more quickly reduce the number of targets.

Strategy 3 (Sorcerer)

Bring Lapp. Summon him before the jump down in the arena, and he is a huge help, since he will most likely distract the bosses.
The first phase is not really hard, dodge the attacks of the demons, fire what you have. Phase two is really hard, since the boss is now highly resistant to magic.
Crystal Hail is very useful as it provides a bit more damage than Great Heavy Soul Arrow, but the casting time is shorter, which allows to cast it often.
Most attacks of the Demons can be simply avoided by jumping backwards, and then Crystal Hail can be cast once or twice, depending on your position.
The only exception is when one of the Demons start his long series of attacks with different hands, approaching you. If you are far away, escape backwards; if you are close, jumping to the right under his left hand during his third attack is usually safe.
Sometimes you may want to approach him a bit to end his combo: he will end the combo with a more slow strike with his left hand if you were close to him during his last attack with the right hand.

Any type of Soulmass can be cast before jumping from the ledge to the arena.

Crystal Soul Spear can damage both Demons at once. However, the second stage enemy of this bossfight is resistant to magic and has high HP, so be careful not to end up with no mana.

Perstilent Mist deals a huge amount of damage to a passive demon if placed well: basically, you should cast this spell every time both demons become inactive for a short period.
When the fight starts, you can place Mercury right in front of you to the place where active Demon will jump, then cast Crystal Hail there (before he jumps), then cast Great Heavy Soul Arrow when he starts jumping to provide good damage at the very beginning of the fight.
It is not recommended to attempt placing Mercury under passive demon when the fight starts as it is quite risky and requires good sight on the active demon.

It is important to keep track on the boundaries of the arena so that you don't get stuck between a Demon and a wall.

Demon in Pain & Demon from Below Trivia

  • The cry of both demons closely resembles that of the Cleric Beast (for some Darkbeast Paarl) from Bloodborne.
  • Do note that the page for Demon Prince is separate, and the drops and souls can only be acquired by defeating the Demon Prince.
  • Boss fight arena is a devastated Firelink Shrine area from Dark Souls I.
  • At some moment of developing, Demon in Pain was called "Crimson Bat".
  • In earlier version, there were 3 stages to this fight: In the first one, player faced Crimson Bat (Demon in Pain), and after lowering his health by around 50 percent, Demon from Below appears. After defeating one of them Demon Prince appears.
  • Both demons share the tail of the Centipede Demon, a boss from Dark Souls. This also applies to the Demon Prince.

The two demons have very fair movesets, but having to spend 5 minutes on phase 1 just to get a chance to die to some bullshit phase 2 attack I've never seen before was so bloody boring. Took me maybe a dozen tries (I first went in as a pyro with a chaos weapon, dealing 20 damage per hit on phase 2 wasn't fun), which is more than even Friede, but this one was more annoying to beat than Friede.

On a good RNG (ie when the passive one keeps his distance and doesn’t directly attack you) this is a good duo fight, but I did notice some inconsistencies with the swiping hitboxes, and some dodge rolls just feel lucky or unlucky. I tried Light rolling and mid rolling and saw no tangible advantage from light rolls—that is, I still get roll-caught, even when I’m supposed to be at a safe distance. I also noticed instances of input eating (even with a new controller), and I might be imagining it, but it feels like stamina depletes faster and recovers slower in this fight, even with the Stamina recovery ring.
        Anyone else noticed this?

At SL1, I thought a reinforced club would do well against them for both bleed and more frequent stuns. But even with prisoner’s chain I always felt stamina recovery was an issue. I could barely get a hit in before dodging the toxic clouds.
A Deep Dagger +10 worked better for me: I had enough stamina left in the reserve, and the riposte damage was sweet. I imagine a (blood/dark) infused bandit dagger would work just as well, or perhaps better.

Man, I don't know what it is about these guys, but I struggled HARD with them. Enough practice got me through, but it was a real trial for me.

Then I decided to run a randomizer and found them setting in Crystal Sage's place. Lemme tell you - big demons in tiny arenas are even more trouble

Dorhys gnawing, med heal and both summons. The big boy takes a lot of sword strikes with both summons, so pure melee is not fun.

Warden Twinblades infused with bleed will absolutely make this fight trivial. Not only do you shred and bleed them like crazy, but they usually end up primed for a crit strike by the end of your flurry

                  • Very easy win spamming Black Flame as a pyromancer. It stance breaks whichever demon you are focusing on after a few hits and they die so fast.

Best duo fight in the series so far. Rest of the duo fights in the series are 4-6/10s while this is probably a 7.5/10

                      • This is the most difficult boss fight I've ever encountered in a FromSoft game; Manus, Nameless King, Gael, Mohg and Malenia included...
In my 6 DS III play-throughs I have NEVER been able to solo them. I'm just too worn out & low on estus by time I'm anywhere near close to defeating the Demon Prince.

Gotta love how From has shown they are capable of making good duo bosses like this one and Ornstein and Smough, Yet they just decided to throw it all out of the window completely in Elden Ring which is littered with the most garbage, tedious and lazy gank/duo fights in any souls game, way to go Fromsoft

Beat it 1st try with just Lapp. Lapp is a tank! The fight is mostly just a slugfest. Just get behind them and hack away: they're slow. Demon Prince is a bit annoying bc he flies away and you drain all your stamina catching back up with him. I used +4 Dragon Shield and Flame Stoneplate Ring for all the fire attacks. Weapon was +9 Butcher Knife bc they're supposedly weak to slash, but it really didn't do much damage. Wish I used Greataxe w/Carthus Rouge instead for the bleed weakness. Prob would've been quicker. With Lapp, it was one of the easiest boss fights in the game. I'm sure it's more annoying solo.

anyone else got less runes for this fight? I had 55000 runes on me before I started the battle and ended up with 125000. the wiki says we get 100000 so i am not sure what's up with that?

                                • Anonymous

Pretty fun battle. I did it solo, brought a Black Knight Sword +3 and a handful of Blooming Purple Moss. I was expecting it to be a lot harder from hearing about it over the years and just the concept of a 2 enemy boss, plus a 3rd phase. I was surprised at how relatively easy the first stage was though. From did a really great job with the dual boss fights in DSIII (this, Lothric/Lorian and Friede/Ariandel...though Champions Gravetender/Greatwolf was a bit ehh) They always balance it out by having 1 of the enemies become mostly passive and just use ranged attacks. Phase 1, their attacks and combos aren't too difficult to deal with. Phase 2 is a lot harder. Demon Prince seems like he has way more health, even though he apparently has 20 less? Must have much higher defenses. Not knowing what the Prince's attacks were, I took a lot more damage trying to learn his patterns. I got the meteor version, which I think may be harder than the laser one. Regardless, managed it on my first attempt luckily. All in all, pretty good fight.

Just did this at level 35 with +3 dragonslayer axe. Easiest strategy is just to summon Gael and Lapp and stay behind the demons

How could they get this so right here and then mess things up in Elden Ring so much? I wonder if FS is becoming one of those companies that are a 'victim of their own success' like Bioware and CDPR became. I mean this among the last bosses for their last dlc before ER so to me it would be common sense that this would be the baseline to aim for in ER, but I guess not.

I don't remember any other 2+1 bosses in the series or other From titles. At least none this annoying. I'm glad whoever came up with this never did it again.

In NG, if you have a +5 Black Knight Sword and late-game stats (40 Str, 30 Dex or thereabouts) you can pretty easily one-cycle the first phase. Two-hand the BKS, stay where you land and do a charged strong attack on Demon From Below when he charges you at the start of the fight, then just stay under him and hack away until you get the critical. If that doesn't kill him outright, another 1-2 hits should do it. This makes the Demon Prince phase way more consistent too because you only have to learn one set of attacks.

TAKE ANY BLACK KNIGHT WEAPON instead of Onyx Blade if you're a pyromancer, The dark damage simply is NOT ENOUGH.

This fight was easier than this guide led me to believe. I'm at SL 113, quality build, +4 Black Knight UGS. I took the advice to summon only one phantom.

I don't really have any tips that aren't already in this guide, tbh.

                                              • Despite the rec to not take both phantoms (contradicted on this page only a few paragraphs later), I dared take both phantoms to the fight. Only took me two runs to kill them with my SL100 DEX chara, since despite how intimidating they look as long as your phantoms gather the aggro it's easy enough to get hits on them and dodge their attacks.

                                                • If you summon the phantom(s) to help with the fight, trying to hit the Demon Prince with ranged attacks is kind of a nuisance. He moved around so much that half my shots were missing just due to his attack animations making him accidentally dodge.

Protip: While you're sniping, dodge the meteors a bit wider than you think you need to. The hitbox on the impact is bigger than the projectile.

I dread having to fight these dudes on a high ng cycle, they are SOOO tanky. Imo they're harder than midir

why do these not drop two boss souls, every other big demon drops a boss soul, I feel scammed by from software... my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Who said they are weak to dark? Try fighting them in high NGs and you will know that is false info. Dark can damage a bit for the 2 of them but only ticker Demon Prince.

                                                        • Anonymous

easily the hardest boss for pure pyros when you dont know they are weaker to dark which is not really logical for demons

                                                            • Anonymous

was fighting solo and ****er was 1 hit away from death and the prince just oneshotted me with that bullshit meteor,i finally lost it and just summoned lapp and we cLAPPed his ass. Finally the demon race is extinct

                                                              • Anonymous

3rd time solo with astora greatsword. very easy compared to friede and NK.

1st phase - focus one and keep the other between you and your focus

2nd phase - always roll forward so you're under him at all times

                                                                • You know damn well i summoned both of them. Idc how long the fight takes, second playthrough and id rather they draw all the aggro while i spammed dark gregs and switched to sellsword blades with bleed while Lapp took all the aggro.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Ok, so weird thing happened today. It was like my 15th try to beat these demons with a pyromancer build (dark for this boss) with lapp. I had 10 hp estus and 5 ashen. I halfway through the first phase, I decided to attack the laser beam demon, and he gets stunned. I go in for the riposte (onyx blade), then throw a wakeup black fireball to inflict extra damage. He stands still for a couple of seconds "weird, normally he'd be shooting poison right now..." I think to myself. Then he flys up and throws a giant fireball and I'm like "OK, THAT'S A DEMON PRICE ATTACK." he then proceeds to spam that attack 3 times... then he fires his laser, and I take the opportunity to punish. (Lapp was doing a great job distracting other demon, best summon for this fight) I get him down with only 4 estus left and about 3 ashen estus flasks. I think "Ok, that was weird, maybe I just skipped the demon prince part?" I proceed to go and assist Lapp to find out. Nope, still had to go through Fire Meteor Demon now. I keep attacking the demon and about when he's at 80% he jumps away and does the meteor attack. Thanks to a SUPER usefull video I watched earlier, I knew how to beat him. (You run up to him when he jumps away to do the meteor attack, stun him, and then wait for the white to appear and loud sound. and wham bam, you just dodged the meteors because they go to where you used to be. You still take damage from the fireball turrents that he deploys before though, but it doesn't even compare to the HELL of damage you will take if you get hit by the meteor.) So rinse and repeat, normal fight insues. Lapp died at 10-15% but I figured I could take it myself. With a final black fireball to the head, I come out victorous. 15 tries and the one times I win I fight the demon prince twice. Anyone else experienced that glitch before though?

                                                                    • Anonymous

if you're gonna summon, use lapp instead of gael. gael tends to die a lot quicker and lapp is way tankier. plus, summoning both makes the second phase wayyyy long.

                                                                      • Anonymous

OK so at first I thought this fight was stupid af and ridiculously hard. Came back the next day and beat it in 2 tries...

I did the opposite of the recommendations apparently. I killed the purple one first and used his body to keep the other one off me and killed him off then focused on the one. The second phase was actually really simple b/c you just dodge under him and behind him. When he flies off to the corner you ****ing book it behind him for LOADS of free hits or dip out from the big ass beam of death he does.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Despite the circumstances where you have to fight 2 of them, and after that have to fight a final form (Demon Prince), I didnt find this boss to be too hard.
Mainly because it doesnt really do anything cheap like the Twin Princes. Its more straight forward.
Its kinda like the Gargoyles from DS1 but you get more space to move around.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Honestly as a pyro this was super easy for me. With carthus ring, witch ring, and sage ring I just dodge rolled and fired black orbs. Took a lot of black orbs but honestly it was super easy. If I wasn't a total b**** and used a sword I would have had a 10x tougher (10x because I estimate that's how many more tries it would have taken me).

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

If your running a high STR build, I would suggest heavy infused sellsword twinblades (+10 for maximum dmg) It's been working for me so far, first stage is easy.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

I really disappointed about 2 DLCs at this point. 2 DLCs contain 2 concepts that I hate a lot: ranged spammer that I cannot kill early (Millwood Knight and Angel) and 2 bosses at once. The ranged spammer not only make my finger hurt because keep pressing sprint button for hours but also make me think do I have to pass this or just optional area. Instead of slow pace and careful play style like the main game, it forces me to run like crazy at some area (main game still have that but the only place remind me the Giant of the Undead Settlement, and he just annoying in small area). The 2 bosses I don't think it should be, I'm fine with multiple phase or "hidden" phase, but 2 bosses at the same time make me feel like "do they run out of idea how to make a good boss? They just bully me with the number, not the difficulty of the boss", and of course they can make good bosses, just like Sekiro's bosses. I know I can summon phantoms but I only do that as the last option. For example how bad the bosses in DLC are, The Champion's Gravetender is completely a joke, he didn't counter even block about 4-5 of my attacks, and get staggered then I just free damage on him, so I just spam light attack with infused weapon and wait him to call Wolf, and I just ignore the Wolf for few second to finish him. The Wolf is ok but I feel a bit unfair because it use***** and run tactic, it usually out of my reach and the open for me to attack quite low, but anyway I think the Wolf part is good enough. Come to the Sister Friede, her moveset is fine but first phase is too easy if you fight her for few time, she can be interrupted so once she finish her combo I just spam attack 3-4 times before she run away. Come the second phase I can use same tactic but have to aware the Father or attack him and let Friede spam her Freeze attack. The final phase is really challenged and I think that how DS bosses should be, sadly only phase 3 of final boss of DLC. And now I come to Demon, but 2, one is aggressive melee and one is support with Toxic at range, I just fight this boss once (and return to bonfire immediately after knowing there's second phase), it's not really hard but they keep force me to use healing because of Toxic, and the first impression is "Seriously DS? You gonna keep doing that every boss fight?". Long comment full of whining, I just a casual player but I don't want to looking for information that make the game easier, I want to experience the game as much as possible, feel free to dislike, I just hope the Ringed City map not gonna like this.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

It will result in immediate *HEIR OF FIRE DESTROYED* to pop

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Yeah, this confirms it. My game bugged on me. In the middle of my fights with these two, both demons start flying around with one shooting lasers and the other one summoning meteorites and chaos orbs. So I was so confused when I fought the prince (thinking it was a 3 stage fight) and he just had the same moveset and was way easier because now I only had to face one.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Oddly enough, the demon prince shares the bleed buildup with the last demon that died, so if the second demon dies just before proccing bleed, then next hit with gnawing/barbed straight sword/etc will proc bleed almost immediately after phase 2 gets the health bar up

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

I used both NPC summons and fisted the demons with Dark Hand while they were distracted. I thought Black Fire Orb would be good but it seemed to do surprisingly little damage given these guys are supposed to be weak to dark.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Also my brain always go for fire=weak to frost even though I already learned that demons are immune to them. Though somehow I got lucky enough that I managed to go through them and the prince in one go.
