If you want clean deserter leggings, I am almost certain that the correct choice is the Follower leggings; if you look carefully, the deserter’s worn down leggings look almost exactly like follower leggings worn down by an army on eternal march, the simple boots beaten to rags and the pants only intact above the leg from the constant wear. It’s not the coolest looking combo you can make with the deserter top, but I am near certain it’s what they looked like before things went to **** for Lothric.

with 425 item discovery (gold serpent +3, avarice, gold coin) it took me around 15 mins. not that bad imo and the chest piece is fantastic

The top has like a 1% drop rate. I farmed for 50 minutes and got nothing but pants and helmets.

It would be really nice if we could get the full clean version from the hollows wearing it before the Twin Princes. Unfortunately we can’t and have to make do with what we can get unless someone wants to get a huge petition together. Still a halfway decent looking set when combined with the right items.

I like to go no helm, Deserter Armor, Worker Gloves, and Fallen Knight Leggings. I looks pretty good, it's fairly light, and it protects well.

For all those asking the same question : No, it is not only before the Twin Princes you can get the full set. You can also get it from the High Wall, the very first spot, from soldiers wearing helmets. Everything they wear and have equipped, except the spear, is droppable.

The Hollows leading up to the Twin Prince boss fight seem to be wearing cleaner, better armored variants of this. Can you obtain it?

I really like this armour, specifically the chest, hope they add a new and clean version in the DLC.

i cant seem to get the knights in the high wall of lothric to drop it, and greirat isnt selling it, am i doing something wrong?

Hollow soldiers before Lothric boss fight can drop pieces of this set, also it seems they wear gloves from Jailer Set. Couldn't manage drop them though.

Cannot get the chest piece to drop. Had double digits of everything else. Does it actually drop from enemies? Or is it thief starting class only?
