Dragonhead Shield is a Shield in Dark Souls 3. It is part of The Ringed City.
This shield, as hard as a great boulder, is formed by the head of the descendant of an Archdragon.
The Ringed Knights, by command of the gods, stood amongst the ranks who set out to slay the dragons, but their contributions were never lauded.
Skill: Dragon Breath
Even the descendant of an Archdragon perishes not, and use of this skill restores its former strength, sweeping foes with a frontal exhalation of dragon breath.
Notes and Tips:
- Cannot be Buffed or Infused.
- Reinforced with Titanite Scale
- Has spectacular fire defense, espically for a shield of its size.
- At close range the weapon art can true combo with a follow up attack:
- Curved Swords
- Hammers (not Warpick or Heysel Pick)
- Thrusting Swords
- Straightswords
- At medium Range the weapon art can true combo with a follow up attack:
- Axes
- Katanas (not Washing Pole)
- Scythes
- Halberds
Location/Where to Find
- Available in The Ringed City DLC
- You can find it after completing the "Show Your Humanity" Puzzle near the Ringed City bonfire. Go past the Judicator and proceed to the Purging Monument, but turn around instead of crossing the bridge. The item is at the end of the narrow path. A single Hollow Cleric will ambush you, and you might have to dodge summoned phantoms if you didn't kill the Judicator.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). This can also true combo with crossbows. I imagine a low level build with Fire Clutch Ring and an Avelyn using exploding bolts. Become a walking piece of artillery.

This shield + black knight great axe = Godrick the Golden build

This thing is an incredible spacing tool. Players trying to roll into or around you will get caught by it. And it combos into a lot of weapons and spells too. The only downside is it's low stability and active block frames when the skill is used. Be careful not to be guardbroken

Better than the Dragon Head Stone breath! Well, this time it's not surprising, since dragon stones are just imitations, and this is the real deal

This shield is phenomenal against parry spammers. Just fire breath every time!
- Anonymous
it doesnt true combo with halberts, at least not with the crescent axe...

Pairing this with Demon's scar is like being a walking meat grinder. Dragon Breath>Black Flame>R1>Repeat.

it's basically the DS3 version of the Bloodborne flamethrower.

Dragonhead shield WA will let you get at least 1 R1 on successful WA hit with quicker weapons. Confirmed to work with estoc.
- Anonymous
This is meant purely to stop gankers in pursuit and catching them w/ black flame. Rocks in PvP.

This is for a strength/faith meta. Im Lev 86 cleric with 45st/30vit/30faith and I get 200 damage on average. I have to equip scholars ring however along with crucifix of a mad king it's OP. keeping my character that level let's invade/coop well over half the areas in the game.
- Anonymous
can someone confirm for me whether or not the WA can be parried? I was doing some PVP and I hit a guy with the bash of the shield before the fire breath and I believe he may have parried it.
My knight and pyro do almost the same damage so this isn't a pyro weapon. Basically if you have the stats your good to go, also you can still use the WA w/zero fp for like half the damage.

Did further testing with this shield. The 450 WA damage i got is actually due to the shield hitting alongside with the WA fire effect. If you are close enough you can hit both with the flame and the shield. Only pure WA damage is 292 and +5 with above stats. Shield damage is affected by flynns ring and WA damage is affected by fire clutch ring. WA damage is not affected by pyromancy rings.

WA damage is affected by upgrade level by a great margin on a pyromancer. On my sage build with 12 str 50 int and 45 faith, WA damage was 116 at base, 153 at +1 and 450 at +5. Tested on NG+ against the first hollow outside the ludex gundyr boss arena. So if you are a pyromancer and willing to use it, upgrade it. At +5 it has 212 base physical damage, 22 base fire damage, 42 stability. D scaling at strength, E at intelligence and D at faith.

In a dlc filled to the brim with FP chugging weapons with little uniqueness outside of the WA, this thing seemse pretty crappy with it's damage, does but a fraction of any other WA I can do with the same FP costs
- Anonymous
The WA is also a block, but not right upon activation. low stability though so danger of being guard broken.
- Anonymous
Getting surrounded don't worry all you have to is use the weapon art to do decedent fire damage and to run away/ get better control of the situation
- Anonymous
A small shield that throws fire and scales with str, int and faith. Might be an interesting choice for a PvE pyromancer.

Can some please add that the shield is able to expel fire in a large cone?
70 Physical defense and 42 stability, yea ill pass.
Just a nice gadget for some occasional need to reduce fire dmg moments.
