Puncturing Arrow | ![]() |
- ( 20/ 20) |
Dragonslayer Greatbow is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.
Greatbow used by the Dragonslayers during the age of gods. Far greater in size than any normal bow, and far more devastating.
The bow must be anchored in the ground to be fired, a time consuming operation that leaves the operator vulnerable. Only specialized great arrows can be fired from the bow.
Skill: Puncturing Arrow
Masterfully fires off a great arrow that pierces through all enemies in its path, inflicting damage.
Notes and Tips:
- Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
- Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
- At +5 with 40/40 STR and DEX it has 427 AR.
- Because bows cannot be used without being 2-handed, the "true" Strength requirement for this weapon is 14.
- Damage may vary depending on ammunition(great arrows).
Location/Where to Find
- Looted from a corpse in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley (where all the Silver Knights with these bows are).
- Rare drop from Silver Knights wielding this weapon.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

The most reliable of the greatbows. Does better damage than Onislayer, but has more range than Millwood, so it covers both weaknesses of the other weapons.

Fun fact, the sniper silver knight in Irythill is guaranteed to give you an item when you kill him. Usually it's an armor piece, sometimes the shield, and sometimes... a dragonslayer greatbow. So given good luck, you can have two of these per playthrough, if that's of any use to anyone. You could also get it before Pontiff if you liked.

I feel like this bow should have a warcry buff with the weapon art, buffing arrow damage by 30%. That would come close to what millwood does by default.

"looted from a corpse in boreal valley"
thanks, very helpful.

Is it possible to get two shots in. How much stamina does each shot take?

"Because bows cannot be used without being 2-handed, the "true" Strength requirement for this weapon is 14."
Please delete this. It is not true.

When I got this I thought "Great! Now I'll be able to snipe from a km away like those fkng silver knights!"... So much dissapointment.

I think there is a mistake when the wiki said that the real requirement is 14. Im pretty sure that the strength requirement for bows and greatbows is exceptionnally set up for 2H, because they are Indeed Always used 2Hing them. So the true requirement is the one indicated… so here 20. Correct me if Im wrong

Please tell me the range is more than 39 on this thing. If its 39 then the millwood greatbow would straight up outclass this bow.

Surprisingly effective at close-quarter combat. If you time shots right, can be used to counter even semi-fast melee weapons, thanks to the knockback. Learning when to dodge instead of firing (and at what frames you can dodge in) helps a lot.
Plus it's a good "safe" approach weapon in PvE.

Do great arrows deal thrust damage? Do they work with the Leo ring?
- Anonymous
Your AR with this bow will always be better then the Onislayer's unless you have 12 or 13 strength then you can't use this. Only reason not to choose this is the higher weight and the fashion souls.

onislayer arrows work on dragonslayer greatbow and dragonslayer arrows work on onislayer greatbow
- Anonymous
Maybe also write that this bow knocks the enemy on the ground, and also got a small knockback, so watch out stand on an edge!

You can find one on the latter halfway up to the giant Balista in the Burning Lake. It's hours before you get ammo for it, but I think it should be noted

Where can I get the dragon slayer arrow? I've got oni slayer ones but they look strange.
Good for safely assisting boss fights. You will want to get enough endurance because a shot takes a lot of stamina, and you may need to roll after (shooting a boss really draws aggro). The oni arrows are weaker than the other ammunition, but they consume less stamina when you fire.

Which has better AR at +5; Onislayer (194 base) D/B/-/- @ 20/60/-/- or Dragonslayer (220 base) D/C/-/- @ 20/60/-/- ? Or would either be better at 40/40/-/- ?
- Anonymous
Needs confirmation but using dragonslayer greatbow with dragon slayer arrows seemed to do significantly more damage

Step 1: equip obscuring ring. Step 2: drop rubbish or dung pie near cliff. Step 3: shoot them from far enough away to be obscured. Step 4: listen to scream as they fall to their death.

About to do a Gough playthrough.. you can buy great arrows from the thief merchant dude if u save him after you send him to the illthyl or howerver its spelled just look up his questline

Ive have been a great bow wielding scrub since dark souls 1. A bridge sniper in dark souls 2, but my builds are 90% of the time STR, and my concern that there no STR great bows. are there any plans for DLC STR great bows.
- Anonymous
Its wonderful the bow is able to get, but is there a way to buy Dragonslayer arrows? I know you can get Oni Arrows, but do they work for both? And if not, where is there a place to farm the arrows if you cannot buy them, because less than 20 isn't gonna do me per play through.

This piece of **** is back! The "dragonslayer" great bow. This thing was supposed to kill dragons in DKS1 but when i tried it on the hell kite drake on the undead burg bridge, things didn't go so well. I sure hope this thing still lives up to its name.... Lol jk no hate! I loved this weapon, it was great for trolling gankers, well for me at least...
- Anonymous
Got one of these from killing the Silver Knight who wielded it in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley
- Anonymous
so there's 2 listed and 10 or so that have been datamined to exist but no one's found them yet? Or are there only 2 in the game right now.
- Anonymous
It's pretty sad that Milwood outdamages this bow on not just strength but also quality builds.
And while you might argue about the lack of range, using an Onislayer Arrow complete nullifies that weakness.
