Estoc is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.



Large thrusting sword used for piercing through the armor of enemies.

The sharp edge of the sword's rock-solid blade can also be used in slashing attacks.

Skill: Lock onto your target and hit them in a large forward lunge to pierce through enemy shields and inflict staggering damage.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      One of the most simple yet fun weapons to use in PvP. The R2 attack is very useful and seems to combo into another R2. The weapon art is great for hitting those shield users who refuse to let go of block, and against others it’s still useful as it combos into an R1 and does very good damage. I recommend pairing this with a shield in the offhand to gain access to block hits further increasing your available moves. Or of course, you can just R1 spam. Whatever suits ya.

        so... i don't know how this bug happen to me, but i created a mage to try a new build, wanted to buy this from greirat, so i send him to the undead settlement, but couldn't find it on the inventory when he got back, and... for my surprise, there was the pointiff curved sword... so yeah i got no estoc but a good weapon for pvp on low levels XD

            hey so... does the second 1h r2 on this thing have a parry during its startup? I was using it on a claw wielding corvian knight and somehow got a parry from it. not sure if I could replicate it tbh.

              Pretty good early on and late on if you know how to use it. Don’t spam, look for opportunities and dance out of your opponents range. This weapon also has pretty damn good stun on first r1 so use that to your advantage to cancel the attacks of heavier builds, as this weapon is fast. Not meta but very fun to use honestly.

                    A good choice for hyper-mode sorcerors. Decent reach and a good swing speed. Also does absolutely H U E G damage when buffed with CMW with 60 int and court sorceror staff. When combined with damage boosters like magic clutch, dusk crown, red tearstone and morion, it gets around 780 AR (raw infusion, btw). Obviously if you are going to be using hyper mode, you probably dont want to be in melee range, but it's basically impossible for that not to happen sometimes, so you might aswell have something strong AF for the occasion.

                          from my experience the estoc is not good for elemental infusions. on my low level elemental build, with 25 int and fth, crow quills outdamages the estoc by alot of damage. but on my low level sharp build, with 30 dex, the estoc does way more damage than the crow quills. on my 120 meta build, crow quills outdamages estoc with sharp gem. so if your doing a low level dex build, i would go with estoc if you want a thrusting weapon

                                Pretty good in the offhand while using a heavier weapon, range will offset or match that of your main weapon. When your enemy is low on health and plays defensively, you can switch to the estoc and use running/slashing attacks or just spam that shield splitter with its surprising range. Definitely feels cheap to use but so do most winning tactics

                                  I'm writing this post a slight guide for new players, and I'll touch a bit on this weapons good aspects and some of the not so good. So I'm first say that after years of playing with every weapon in the game, this weapon is pretty good. However, it isn't as easy use as a straight sword or a curved sword, and anything that is easy to use lends itself to become even better as your skill and knowledge with the game mechanics increases. Following this logic, this weapon isn't really top tier. It's attack speed tends to be only a frame or two faster than straight swords, but it loses out on range and damage, and has a rather small and finicky hit-box. However it does have a slightly faster recovery, and this leads to one of the first unique aspects of this weapon. Off-hand, like all weapons, it gets a small boost to range. But the quick recovery frames after an attack allows you to combo into ANY main hand weapon attack. This makes the weapon extremely useful for dual wielding slower weapons, as catching an opponent with a hit from this can combo into a hit from a more devastating weapon like a great hammer/axe or ultra greatsword. The slightly faster attack speed allows it to combo AFTER most spells, if the enemy is in range. Some spells with extremely quick recovery (like lightning arrow) actually combo into two R1's. This is due to the fact that there is a kinda of build up mechanic for stunning players, with diminishing periods of being "stunned" as it builds up. Bigger weapons deal more stun "damage" so to speak, and as a result, the stun window after a spell and the first R1 hit is too small to land a second R1 with most weapons. Certain spells and this weapon deal enough stun damage to stun a player, but so little that the stun window is still long enough to land a second R1 even after a spell has landed. However, this weapon cannot land 3 R1's on it's own. Another unique aspect is that the slightly faster attack speed makes registering back stabs more consistent than a straight sword, and the range the weapon posses makes it better than daggers at registering backstabs. Seems to be that registering requires some kind of "check" that is influenced by the weapons attack speed, range, and the opponents position. In short, the range and speed of this weapon just registers backstabs more consistently than the slightly slower straight sword and the much shorter dagger. Personally, I can't give a number to quantify this, but it's definitely noticeable. Even through latency, opponents seem to get "sucked" into a backstab animations quite a bit more often than any weapon I've played with. Lastly I'd like to shed light on two of this weapons attacks in particular as they exceed in some common situations. One, is that while blocking with a shield, you can perform an R1 with reduced range. This is useful for closing with and trading against weapons that might have a slight range or speed advantage (don't try trading with ultra weapons like this, as it's not necessary to block slower weapons you can easily roll). Also, the running attack adds extra running steps when initiated, giving better range and several frames of damage registration in a linear pattern. This is useful for chasing opponents rolling directly away from you. My final opinion is that this weapon works best with with a shield backstab fishing, or off-hand for the increased range and capabilities to combo. On it's own the moveset isn't particularly strong, and as a back up weapon for a caster it's moveset (being mostly linear) just does what casters already do well. I suggest just using a straight sword for the better range, damage, hit registration, and horizontal moveset that seems (IMO) to better compliment your caster's spells. This weapon finds itself on some of my top 10 favorite builds for it's utility, but on it's own I wouldn't place this in my pick for top 10 best weapons.

                                    The best counter to this weapon? Small curved swords. Their 2h r1 is the fastest attack in the game, beating out daggers. Another hard counter to rapiers is preserverance, it'll make their weapon bounce off you. If you're using ultras don't even bother, a smart rapier user will just wiff punish you to death, and will never trade. Attack with a faster weapon or roll catch them, thats your best bet.

                                        Estoc in offhand does not parry. Rapier in offhand parries. Estoc blocks and attacks Rapier attacks and parries. Fix it.

                                              Has good length. Nice shield pierce art. Use it with the Leo ring and you've got a great weapon against guys with big weapons and big D energy. Better for sneak attack assassin build but it can be used for a duel. Better to be sharp or something strong. getting a bleed or poison may prove difficult. Also hornet ring for parry and critical. Good ways to use the thrust weapons just gotta have timing and skill. Don't hate, appreciate. I've killed many people with this weapon. Just have to use it properly. Gank squad? Run away. The thrusting weapons have speed but if you're clipped then you won't be able to trade enough to win. But if the big D energy makes you want to fight them. Know the area, fight on your terms. Those who hate on the weapon do not know true potential. You're an assassin. Use whatever you can to get an edge. Train and git gud. Weapons do not suck they just require more skill to use lolzzzzzzzzzz

                                                        So why does literally no one use this anymore? Because it's r1 spam was nerfed? This is something i don't get about the tryhard community. Something is broken, they all use it, it gets rightfully nerfed, now that thing is trash because they have to try to win. The estoc, in my opinion is still one of the best, if not THE best weapon for duels. Another example of this "It's not broke so its bad" mentality is the astora greatsword. Oh whats that? It's rolling r1 was patched to not be parryable anymore? Bye bye forever. Oh and curved swords, literally all the ones that got nerfed (carthus, falchion etc) have been completely forgotten about. I've used all these weapons post-nerf (in duels and invasions) and they all still work fine. All these weapons were broken, rightfully nerfed. and now there just really good.

                                                            Noticed upon starting a new run as an Assassin that this overrides your kick for a quick backstepping slash. Low damage and just as unreliable as the kick to pull off, but useful.

If you're curious as to when you'll aquire this weapon, it is after Greirat has looted the Undead Settlement, when he reappears at Firelink Shrine after defeating the Cursed Greatwood. The wiki led me to believe it was after Greirat loots Lothric Castle, leading to me to waste some Titanite on a rapier.

                                                                                I dont see the reason for all this hate for estoc. Parrying the R1 spammers is super easy and once you land a riposte, the opponent is very likely to panic and start doing rolling attacks etc -> more easy parries. Every "op" weapon is easy to counter, there is always a way around them.

The estoc is still one of the best weapons in the game for PvP even after the patch. When combined with the black knight shield and leo ring it is probably the hardest setup to beat in the entire game as of 18/12/2016.

                                                                                              Wasn't the whole thing about estocs the fact that they were absolutely, purely thrusting weapons? Like, they were blunt because their sole purpose was piercing armor. Wiki also says they were used as tournament swords because their safe, blunt edge was just a straight up fact about the weapon.
