Weapons in Dark Souls 3 are listed on this page. Players may equip up to 3 in the slots for each hand. When developing a build, the player should try to find the weapon that mixes the right amount of damage, bonuses and moveset, alongside stamina consumption and Skills. Weapon classes do not necessarily share the same skills so check each individual weapon page to see its specific skill. If you would like to learn more about each weapon, visit their page, or check out the Combat page for specific explanations on how to master the game. You can use this Equipment & Spell Checklist to keep track of what you have

How to choose a weapon in Dark Souls?

Players create builds around specific weapons that have good movesets, deal significant damage, or are easily obtained. Some players choose weapons for their cosmetic appearance, but in most cases it is advisable to refer to the scaling and upgrading path of weapons to determine if the output is beneficial to the character in pve, pvp or both. The following categories of weapons have details on their base damage, and all individual pages feature infusion charts, with some extending to full moveset videos.

I love how because of the bad design of Poise, broken straight sword is more viable than half of these weapons here on high lvl character

all these weapons are just fanservice from past games, damn this game have 0 personality, DLC weapon add something new, you can clearly see how DS3 was made by the B team of DS2, and miyazaki did the DLC after finishing BB, such overhyped game honestly...

I'm so sad actual twinblades didn't get to come back, favorite weapon category from ds2 and now it's just gone, replaced by a fake and lame version of supposed twinblades

Spears and Pikes are not the same category in this game. Same with Fist and Claws. The categories in the wiki should match the ones in the game.

who's more deserving of the title of "old reliable" in souls games, zweihander, claymore, longsword, lucy, caestus, great club or the pickaxe?

              • Anonymous

I would avoid using these. Fists are faster and deal good damage as is. (Fists scale with strength for more damage btw!!!)

Actual good and fun to use moveset.

It's beyond me to understand why after making these fun to use and exciting weapons, FROM decided to take the worst, dumbest movesets and copy paste then on tens of copy pasted weapons you are supposed to use in tens of copy pasted dungeons to fight tens of copy pasted bosses.

Where are all the skeleton bone weapons. That's it. I'm going back to Pokemon Channel for Nintendo GameCube

Does anyone else get that warm fuzzy feeling every time you come back here to look up weapons, even after all these years?

I hope all the new players brought in from Elden ring get to experience that inherent joy of finding “their” weapon in DS3. When the moveset, weapon skill, and fashion just clicks with you.
One of the other comments was right about so many weapons here having their own identity.

FromSoft really made something special with Dark Souls III, and for them I say; Long may the sun shine.

Guide on how to be hated by every souls game community
Dms: does this game even have a community?
Ds1: killing the Giant blacksmith, solaire, Andre, pretty much any npc.
Ds2: hating on the game without playing it first.
Ds3: luring invaders for Aldrich faithful then camping on the ladder, or using murky hand scythe.
Bb: having an opinion that doesn't match theirs
Sekiro: bringing up a dlc, cause it'll never get one
                          Er: moonveil. Or star shower.

                          All: being a filthy mage

man look at all these weapons, and most of them have their own identity with different skills, heavy attacks, and some can be dual wield, i hope the community uses those, and doesnt just spam r1, to the point where in the next souls game, weapons mostly have the same moveset

After playing Elden Ring, weapons in this game feel boring, Dark Souls 2 did weapons better, and so did ER.

Where is my trusted Banished Knight's GS?

I absolutley dislike people that compare ds to elden ring. Elden ring was and is garbage. Such an easy mode game thats made broken with mimic moinveil and rock throw. I swear every casual uses lame mimic.

I hate to say it, but I feel like Elden Ring's weapons are a downgrade compared to these. Yeah, we have more flexibility with Ashes of War, but the fact that most of DS3's weapons have unique skills and movesets makes me look at some of Elden Ring's weapons with disdain. Feel like they need to revisit what made weapons good in DS3 for the DLC.

                                    Still love both games tho.

I love not participating in the PVP in Fromsoft games. I have no idea how many weapons I should be hating for being OP/useless, I just grab whatever looks good and start swinging.

The Black Knight weapons are the best weapons From has ever designed. Not only do they have several unique moves, but almost all of those moves are worth using, to the point that I willingly and comfortably change between one- and two-handing them throughout a fight. Two handing the Black Knight Sword and claymore-waving is the last thing I'll do with it. Having such functional and diverse movesets make them incredibly fun to play, and I'm sorely disappointed that there's nothing even close to them in Elden Ring.

I was a happy Dark Souls newb when I began playing. I was learning the game and enjoying the diversity of weapons and spells. But then I stood on a hill and looming in the distance, there it was - Irythill of the Boreal Valley. I descended upon the beautiful city and came across a guardsman of the city. I slay them as any other vermin I came across, his body full of gear screams as it clashes against the ground. Upon the lifeless body of the overworked solider lay a beaming light - it beckoned me, calling my name. Dark clouds settled above me as I naively reached out to pick up the object. It felt forever as I was extending my arm towards it, my last moments of DS3 Meta ignorance. Finally, there it stood firmly in my bloodshed hands, a Pontiff Knight Curved Sword. A serene weapon, eaten by insects and frost slept all around the blade ready to unleash its powers. I stared at the blade, images of Glory flashed before me as I raised the sword to the clouds washing away above me. There was no turning back, Lords were murdered, Dark phantoms vanquished and Hosts and White phantoms alike where terrorised by my every growing bloodlust seeping into my mind and new found partner. Nothing was the same anymore, I had to utlise the PKCS no matter what. I lost my sanity the more and more I conquered with this blade.

Players with 802 lvl: I missed the part where thats my problem

This was my first Dark Souls game, yet the one I have the most mixed feelings about. This game was a shift into a new era of Fromsoft games and it's the most polarizing game I've ever played.

A game full of questionable game design, excellent characters, and a completely black and white reception.

I don't love or hate this game, but it just feels very awkward in the sense that I never expected the game to end up this way. Ruined by people who don't care for the prosperity of it.

I'm glad I played the other Fromsoft games, they were all extremely fun for me, but Dark Souls III just doesn't sit right with me anymore. There's no magic anymore because the game is so straightforward.

Not my favorite game, but definitely one I'll remember for the rest of my life.

I miss the days where are hit from most weapons would stun an enemy long enough to get one more hit in

now in elden ring, idk if this is the case with every weapon, but you can only get one hit in before the enemy rolls away

plz FS, bring this back, it made pvp fair, if not, i would quite like to see the infinite r1 zweihander combo from ds1 back

How the FromSoftware devs could've made Dark Souls 3 a perfect game:
1- Along with the nerf for curved swords, remove the PKCS

                                                                3- Remove Murky Hand Scythe

                                                                  • Anonymous

If the r2 enhaced the weapon's attack in some way then MAYBE it would be worth our time, but outside of mlgs, it's pretty much useless.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

I'm going to go use Black Blade

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

Other players when they use the halberd: literal masters of poise and hyper armor frames

                                                                                • Anonymous

Bait and negativity aside, with Elden Ring on its way I pose this question: What's your favorite weapon? Doesn't matter which game, I just wish to know what your fondest one to use is.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Elden Ring can do whatever the hell it wants, I just wish that there's a weapon like Dead Cell's "Nerves Of Steel" bow in it

(For reference, it's a bow that does considerably higher damage after you've held the arrow for a certain period of time, but the moment you hold it for any longer, the damage bonus goes ppof. Pretty much means you have to time your shots really well)

                                                                                    • Anonymous

I feel like in every fromsoft game strength is more effective for pve
and Dex is more effective for pvp
Since dex is associated with the faster weapons (specifically straight and curved swords)
Strength better for pve since the dodge and hit tactic is more effective for npcs with high damage weapons

Both are good, I just feel like dexterity is more powerful for pvp

A little psa on the lothric warbanner:

The buff weapon art is classed as a hitbox that only hits allies and provides the AR boost to them. The buff lasts one second, but the warbanner shoots out another hitbox every second, so it lasts for anyone who remains within its radius. However, this has one big side effect on NPCs.

Most NPCs try to roll or block when you attack them, but this is actually just a hitbox check- and since the lothric warbanner is the single most perpetually refreshing hitbox in the game, it means that some NPCs will endlessly roll or shield when faced wwith the weapon art.

I've not tested much, but I've found three notable foes this works on- Zoey, Shira, and Abyss Watchers. Keep in mind that the latter uses a roll attack, though, so it's not truly safe.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            - More weapon moveset diversity (like Ds2)
                                                                                            - Better movesets in general (Fist weapons, Greataxes, and Raipers are kinda bland)
                                                                                            - More weapon catalysts
                                                                                            - Slow down some weapons, specifically 2 handed small curved swords and daggers
                                                                                            - Better balancing (okay, I know this one is kinda impossible, but it never hurts to ask

                                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Man, everyone's talking about meta weapons and balance n' all that.

I just walk around, invading randoms in farron keep, casting Warmths, dropping purple moss clumps for them, and guiding them through the area. The only weapon I pack is Hollowslayer, and that's simply because it's an earlygame weapon that stands a decent chance when you can't run away, I.E. the poison swamp slowing you down. Even then, I only use it in self-defense, when I'm attacked before I can signify my friendship.

I wish we had more wholesome ds3 players. It really makes the game feel more... cruel. I know, that's the theming of the game, but that doesn't mean the community has to follow these guidelines, yes?

I dunno. Maybe I'm just exhausted from the endless flow of hackers and twinks, but this is just my two cents.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Imo they should have put a lot more work on the weapon movesets. Like, it does make sense that from the beginning you kinda swing the sword in the air, but not after reaching certain levels and wielding certain weapons that requires more than the caveman's moveset "r1 r1 r1".

I would've done it this way: meeting a sword's minimal requirements you get the basic moveset. 15 points of str above would give you a more brutish moveset like ds2's, 15 points of dex above would give bloodborne's moveset and 15 of both would give you bloodborne ss moveset + greatsword's r1s as combo enders. Idk, something creative among this museum.
