Havel's Ring

A ring for warriors keen on heavy acoutrements. Increases maximum equip load.

This ring was named after Havel the Rock, the battlefield compatriot of Gwyn, the First Lord.

The art of war has been a constant since ages past, and those who would follow in Havel's footsteps are no fewer now than in his own day.

Havel's Ring is a Ring in Dark Souls 3.

Havel's Ring Effect

  • Increases maximum equip load by 15%
  • +1 Version: +17%
  • +2 Version: +18%
  • +3 Version: +19%
  • Weight: 1.5

Where to Find Havel's Ring

Notes

  • You can also find Havel's Set after defeating the Stray Demon if you have defeated the Havel Knight that spawns in Archdragon Peak.
  • Havel's Ring has been heavily nerfed; unlike it's Dark Souls counterpart, which raised equip load by a whopping 50%, this Havel's Ring only raises it by 15%.
  • This ring may be useful for fast-roll builds (<= 30% equipment load) as the actual usable weight allowance gained is the equivalent of a good number of points in vitality. If aiming for 30% load, this ring allows you to carry the following extra item weight after accounting for the ring's own weight ( extra weight = ((max_weight * ring_bonus/100)-1.5)*0.3 ):
    • Basic Ring
      • 10 Vitality: 1.8 (~ +6 vit)
      • 20 Vitality: 2.25 (~ +7.5 vit)
      • 30 Vitality: 2.7 (~ +9 vit)
      • 40 Vitality: 3.15 (~ +10.5 vit)
    • +3 Ring
      • 10 Vitality: 2.4 (~ +8 vit)
      • 20 Vitality: 2.97 (~ +9.9 vit)
      • 30 Vitality: 3.54 (~ +11.8 vit)
      • 40 Vitality: 4.11 (~ +13.7 vit)

For those like me who accidently used the soul of a stray demon in my 1st playthrough and then went for the complete ring trophy - you can transpose the soul to get Havel's ring in your next playthrough and Havel's +1 ring will still appear in your NG +1 (You don't have to do an extra playthrough, since you can get the base and +1 version in NG+)

I find that if you get too dependant on this ring it can bring you too ruin, so try and make ur build a little bit better cuz once u have no need to equip this ring it is like heaven on earth

        • Okay, the location of the +3 ring: At the bottom of the big stairs where the fat dudes spawn up from the mud, take a sharp left. There's a long ladder. At the top of the ladder, go up the stairs and take a right. Drop down onto a little dirt ledge. Follow it up to the empty tower where I assume Ledo spawns. Near the front door to the tower, there's a ledge you can drop to. The ring is on one of these little tiny ledges.

Hope that helps, took me like 30 minutes to piece together where the "ledges near the swamp" were.

Pair this with ring of favor if you don't want half your SL to be in vit because you wanted to make a heavy build.

I have around 20Vit and just went from 60 to 70 Max equip load.

This ring is worth it for high weight characters.
I went from struggling to even have a bow for picking off enemies with my heavy gear to being able to equip full fallen knight armor, my longsword, my drang hammers, short bow, knight shield and chime.

All of a sudden I'm able to counter and adapt, and that's pretty valuable to me, more than 2 or 3 levels from the soul.

I must emphasize tho, this is only for high weight builds like dual hammer full armor.

The developers were probably like "wait how much did it increase by in DS1? Fif-ty or fif-teen?" And after an hour or so of debating this is what we got.

I just want to add that the raw defense boost you get with this ring simply by wearing better armor makes it much more potent than the Ring of Steel Protection with the PvP nerf. It is also multiplicative with vitality, so you can softcap on vitality and get a lot more value out of this ring, and the ring of favor. Raising your equip loads to those thresholds allows you to wear absolute fatty armor with a large weapon and greatshield. My personal favorite PvE co-op build is sofcapped health, stam, vit, 50 str, 40 dex, uber armor, black knight greataxe, and a shield with bash. Also consider that many people use simpler offhand items like the Grass Crest Shield or an infused parry tool, when you could be using the Old Wolf Curved Sword and get both Pontiff ring effects with the caveat being that it's just heavy. 15% ramping damage and a moderate heal on consecutive attacks is far more valuable to most playstyles than a ring slot. Just to reiterate, this ring is worth it even without a heavy vitality investment for the armor opportunity cost alone.

do you need to make the ring first before you get the upgraded rings? havel's ring +0 dosen't seem all that worth it compared to 20K souls, but i'd like the upgraded ones in the first place

                    • Anonymous

dont bother using it unless your going for some heavy armor build, just get 40 vitality if you wanna wear more heavy armor

                      • Anonymous

Fun fact: This ring's effect stacks multiplicitively with RoF meaning you will have a 40% increase in equip load with RoF +3 and Havel +3, and if that's not enough add the Prisoner's chain for maximum fat.

Dark Souls 1: Heavy armor will have a lot of benefits and a lot of drawbacks that coincide with someone's build. Dark Souls 2: We've changed the weight system a bit to allow heavy armor users a more welcoming spot. Dark Souls 3: No

DS 3 hates heavy armored players... gotta put sooooo many points into vitality, and the havels ring is*****.

                            • Anonymous

What the***** were they thinking?! At 15% it barely even compensates for it's own weight. If you're worried about scaling so badly, give it a flat increase or at least a lower weight.

Ok I'm seeing a big problem. When you are about to consume a transposable soul it gives an option before you consume it.

I don’t wanna be a bug. But I’m helping my cousin through the game I messed up and he bought the boulder spell instead. If any one is willing to drop one for me. I’d give you the spell

Can someone please help me out. I have been planning this build but it can only work with the ring+2 or +3 so if someone could please give it me the ring om ps4 i wil be grateful.

On low vitality it may be wiser to invest a few more points into that and save yourself a ringslot than using Havels ring. It only really shines on higher vitality numbers.

Quick question, if I didn’t get the ring how will I get the regular version on NG+? Will I then get the ring+1 on my NG+2? Thanks in advance :)

When i wear havel's ring +2 my eqip load goes up to 127.5, but when i wear the +1 veraion it raises it to 149.2. Anyone have any idea as to why?

                                          • Havel's ring is pretty much worthless in this game unless you want to go for 30% equip load for the fast roll since wearing heavier armor only increases your absorption, which to be fair, works against heavier attacks.. and not to mention that to get to that 30% eq load, you still need high vitality which that gives you higher defense.. so a fast rolling guy has better armor than a mid roll guy x(
well.. i had made a build with 13 vit and heavel and was able to use, greatsword, dark mask, karla's coat (my main fashion) and then dark gauntlets and black iron leggings for highest possible defense and got phys abs to 20% but then realized that having those heavy armors are a waste.. or rather the havel's ring and switched it to ring of favor (which also gives some eq but most importantly HP and stamina) and recalculated the best possible leggings and gauntlets and now my plan is to use outrider knight gauntlets and dark leggings and my phys abs is still 18%..
and to those wandeing about the rest of my build, im also using dark pyromancies and chloranthy ring, life ring and carthus milk ring (and its for PvP.. for PvE i'd recommend ring of steel protection in place of life ring)

it's increase is percentage based. means if you are on low vitality the ring will have only little effect.

The Location of Havel's Ring +3:
Near the very long staircase where the large enemies (Harald) are patrolling, there is a very long ladder that leads up to one of the friendly locust npc's (white preacher). The Ladder is located to the right of the long staircase (at the very bottom of it) in the swamp near 3 cleric turtle enemies. Once you went up the entire ladder there is a way that leads left to a ringed knight but there is also a way to the right, where you can drop off onto a stoney path. From this Stoney path you can drop down to several "steps" where you will find the havels ring +3.

                                                • Anonymous

I managed to get havel's ring+2 right in the beginning of the game. At High Wall of Lothric bonfire there was a Mad Phantom sigil that I summoned, it did not fight me at all, instead attacked the mobs. We proceeded to the right and very soon came an invasion by a phantom called Invisible Man. The Mad phantom went to greet him and then the red phantom disappeared completely. The invisible phantom attacks the player and the mad phantom but after some damage all the HP will return to maximum. I also got several different buffs to my weapon when the invisible phantom attacked me. We roamed back to the bonfire and then towards the dragon. There is a small circular ledge before the dungeon entrance that leads to the fire breating dragon. The mad phantom tried to fight the invisible phantom but he seems unkillable. After a while the Mad phantom dropped some Prism Stones and started to do some harakiri attack and damage himself using his own sword. After he dies there will be a collectable bag that had the Havel's Ring +2 inside. This happened right on the first playthrough and hence Havel's +2 was the first ring I acquired in the game. The Mad Phantom sigil did not show up after that but the Invisible Man red phantom keeps attacking you, but you will get full health.

Just got the ring, was super excited to use the heavy armor and sadly the ring appears bugged. Taking the ring on or off has no effect on load, other then adding the weight of the ring. On v1.09 of the game on Xbox.

Idk if it's the recent update but the ring randomly stop working, putting it on and off the equipment load doesn't change at all.

                                                      • Anonymous

You guys seriously crushed all four souls of demons before looking at what you could trade them for? And you're complaining that dark souls is inferior to the first game for not explaining things? This amount of salt could turn the Baltic to the Mediterranean.

                                                        • Anonymous

After I killed the stray demon, transposing the ring from its soul was not an option given to me. Believe me, I would have picked the ring over boulder heave.

If you wear both this ring and the ring of favor, will the percent increase in equip load add together to 20% or does it not work like that?

how the fcuk am i suppose to expect that this bosses soul would possess something as valuable as the havel ring. it's bad enough that i barely get any souls to level up so obviously i'm inclined to use the stray demon's soul to lvl up faster, it's not like i assumed it was a boss fight therefore making his soul valuable trade in. what a joke this game is. also it annoys the hell out of me how much bloodborne has influenced dark souls 3. i hate it and they *****ed up it. only reason i'm not trading it in cause it feels more like the actual sequel to dark souls 1.
