The outrider knight gets an estoc moveset with slashes but the player is limited to only thrusts with this weapon

Using this against the two princes was straight up bullying. Almost felt bad about it afterwards. Only almost, though.

        • Only rapier I could make work for me. Frost, thrust damage and the shield splitter are just too good. After the Undead Legion though I would switch to something with more oompf. Reapers or the Murakumo in Irithyll.

Aside from certain weapons and situations, there has always been an ongoing problem i come across in pvp. take your enemies health down low in 1-2 swings with a decent weapon? maybe you backstabbed or riposted them, hell even got a undead hunter charm on their ass. they are just barely alive, and thats enough for them to roll spam or run off and chug away your hard work. i was so fed up with chasing a host or phantom, timing undead hunter charms, and almost never hitting because its really hard to rollcatch with a running r1 with a greatsword (it can happen with luck or lag). half my fights would just come down to how much estus i could beat out of the host until darkmoons arrive or he runs off to bring back phantom(s). they would just go on and on and on. then id just have to black crystal or attempt an ambush. that is until today when i went on a big invasion spree in archdragon peak. my fights became short and sweet. oh the joys of this weapon! cheap running r1s to punish panic rolling and chuggers, a nasty l2 that can oneshot glass cannons and make shield users cry, and the literal icing on the cake... frostbite! its crazy! even if they block or roll through it they still get the chills lol. ive had rollspammers abruptly die because the proc goes off, and then they immediately run out of gas. such a versatile weapon! now i can finish fights efficiently and even perform better against more than one player. plus it looks sexy as *****. an incredible tool with great potential.

Brutal PvE weapon the frostbite procs in two hits on nearly every enemy and the damage that comes after is so satisfying

I've been totally smacked by frost builds that use this in offhand with vordt's. It's pretty comparable to the normal ultra+estoc that I've used myself but the frost makes it super hard to roll away from these guys, so i usually end up dying out of stamina, pathetically jogging away from elsa's angry cousin

In PvE, I'm using this with a fire infused Mail Breaker in the offhand against bosses that are weak to frost. Step1: Proc frostbite with rapier. Step2: Reset frost buildup with fire Mail Breaker. Step3: ...rinse and repeat. Step4: Decent dmg profit.

                  • Anonymous

I have been using this in the offhand with the irithyll straight sword in PvP, and I came up with some interesting combos: R1 R1 L2 L2 R2 and R1 R1 L2 R2. It isn't a true combo, but hits fairly often, and when it does, the damage can be insane thanks to the guaranteed frostbite proc.

Better than that overrated SS equivalent. Does more damage on a quality build, just as much frostbite buildup, better for roll catching, better for crits...just a better weapon all around.

Theis rapier is one of my fav weapons for both PvE and PvP. Fast, unpredictable movements + quick, damaging strikes with decent reach, and it has a block breaking attack that will often do 500 - 600 damage through shields. This can open up the enemy for a deadly counter. Pair with Pontiff's Right Eye and/or Hornet Ring. The critical damage is in the 1000 hp range and will one hit kill many players on a backstab.

It is particularly effective against certain bosses, especially the trickier ones like Lothric and Lorian or Soul of Cinder. With Pontiff's Right Eye and Carthus Beacon, SoC was a pushover. The range is enough to reach Lothric when he is riding on his brother's back, allowing you to viciously punish him with strong attacks or a flurry of light attacks. You can use the Weapon Art to move around too. Good for avoiding stuff as a last ditch attempt to get out of somewhere.

The frost buildup seems not to do very much. I've only seen it kick in once or twice, total, and I've used this thing for two complete NG+ runs now. Hypothetically, it should be really good, as it causes the enemy to take more damage and slows down stamina regen. It just never seems to actually happen.

I love this thing, it really completes my Outrider Knight cosplay. I like to dress up and go in search of honourable duels. En garde!

Definitely not bad as a riposte weapon for a frostbite build.
On my build specifically, I have 50 str and 40 dex so that I can use all the frostbite weapons effectively, and by using Vordt's Greathammer to break shields and a Llewellyn shield to parry, I can rack up damage up to around 1000-1100 damage with a hornet ring, frostbite riposte. Not only that, it's a decent secondary weapon to compliment Vordt's Greathammer.

This weapon got me through Dragonslayer Armour, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder, and Gael. I wouldn't have even had a chance without it.

Not sure if it's due to the recent DLC patch but it seems like the weapon skill, shield splitter, does full damage even if you don't have any FP right now. Maybe it was like this before hand and I didn't notice, but it's that way right now.

Been working on a frost build. Has not been in a single PvP. I am going to get some of my friends to give this weapon to me so I can finish my frost build to see it shine beautifully. Quick question regarding this build-Should I put more in strength then Dex to I can use Vordts hammer or put more in Dex than strength so I can use quick weapons effectively, and use Vordts hammer when needed?

on my 40 dex 25 str 30 faith character I have a quality lothric knight sword in my right hand and this in my off hand. The mix ups are great and if they try to parry one i can switch it up with the other. Its really fun and good at applying pressure and racks up damage fast!

I couldn't find a use for this other than the Dragonslayer armor boss battle. The frost burst procs pretty fast (3-4 pokes) and will decimate the boss quickly. Other than that, well the frost effect is useless and never ever procs in PvP.It has the rapier moveset and the estoc weapon art. For quality builds it's decent but for pure dex builds it's not worth dumping 15 twinkling into it and a slab.

There is some ways to buff frost power?Indeed interesting but no ended type of effect. I want to believe that first DLC really opens the door to the Frost build characters.

I'm looking for a rapier to compliment my crystal rapier I'm a Intel/Dex build I have a rapier but I want ricards or irithyll which one will be better as a parry sword

Hello everyone, I would like to ask that if you use this weapon as an offhand weapon, can you still parry while wielding two weapons at the same time?

                                            • Anonymous

I only upgraded this weapon, because I had no idea what to upgrade with my twinkling titanites and this weapon literally carried me through the last couple of bosses in my first playthrough. I also threw my first slab in this beauty.

                                              • Anonymous

Simply the best one imho. Quicker than the other 4 and has the same damage while at it. Additionally it doesnt need to used mana for the Frost effect like the Scythe or the Curved Sword. The longsword is okay, but easier to block/dodge and the mace is too slow for pvp
