Lloyd's Sword Ring


Ring given to knights of the Way of White. Depicts Allfather Lloyd's Sword of Law.

Boosts attack power when HP is full.

Much time has passed since the worship of Lloyd was common in the Way of White. The clerics of Carim had always strongly asserted that Lloyd was a derivative fraud, and that the Allfather title was self-proclaimed.

 Lloyd's Sword Ring is a Ring in Dark Souls 3.

  • Boosts Attack Rating when HP is full (over 99% HP)
    • PVE = 10% 
    • PVP = 10%

Notes

  • Boosts all damage dealt while the buff is active.
    Confirmed with: Wrath of the Gods, Sunlight Spear, Crystal Soul Spear. ~12-13% damage increase.
  • This does NOT work with consumable item damage (Tested with Firebombs and Throwing Knives)
  • The boost to AR is effectively 10% greater.
    • Your damage gets amplified slightly more than just 10%, thanks to how defense works in this game.
    • To simplify, BIG DAMAGE pierces enemy defenses VERY WELL.
      while small damage pierces enemy defenses very little.
  • Tested on Hollows at High Wall of Lothric:
    • 322 AR (no ring) R1 = 298 damage = 0.925% of AR.
    • 354 AR (with ring) R1 = 336 damage = 0.949% of AR.

      I highly recommend wearing this + Sun Princess Ring as soon as you find them if this is your first playthrough of the game. Since first time players tend to move more patiently through areas and explore all the corners and paths, you will have plenty of downtime between fights to let the sun ring heal you to max HP and get the attack bonus. It's an excellent combo for regular enemies, but for boss fights, instead you should pair this ring with the Estus Ring, which will heal you extra when you use your flask, making you more likely to hit max hp when you heal during the boss fight.

        This bad boy saved me in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley
        Gave me just enough damage to two-shot most Pontiff Knights, which made the whole area alot easier

          Is this ring better than the Red Tearstone Ring? Red Tearstone seems to provide a bigger buff, and both require you to be really cautious and dodge well to keep the buff. Which one is better? I've used Lloyd's Sword Ring for most of the game, but the damage increase doesn't seem to be making much of a difference.

            In PVE, there are too many little falls you have to take that chip off just a bit of your health to dismiss the buff, forcing you to chug

              imagine this ring in real life, you stub your toe, get a headache or cough to hard, POOF, all your magic strength is gone

              • Was tinkering around with my build when I discovered something. If you wear this ring and the dusk crown ring at the same time, it amplifies the attack bonus.

                  whoever wrote those notes: 1) it's a mess 2) you speak as if enemy defenses were a mystery. Rule of thumb: Deal greater damage, and more percentage of your damage will go through an enemy's defenses. no need to write 10 paragraphs about it.

                    Remember to use the dusk crown, the blind mask and the scholar’s candlestick if you want max damage along with the clutch rings. The masks change depending on if you’re using sorceries or dark sorceries.

                      who is loyd he is in dark souls two (loyds talismans) and is in dark souls 3 i have not seen any lore about him.

                        In Irithyll going down the ladder to the giant Rat-doggos, one of the Drang Knights kicked me and dealt 7 damage of my (unembered) 947 HP and the ring was still active. This might need more testing than one thought.

                          I mostly enjoy this ring during co-oping for valorizing damage while having no aggro. It also synergizes well with the "Sun Princess Ring" .

                            This ring has a use, but is it USEFUL? Depends on the situation.

                            In PvE, this ring is good for late game-low SL runs where pretty much everything one shots you. Good incentive really, don't get hit and you'll have bonus damage on top of being alive.

                            Not good for hyper builds though, doesn't even work for hyper builds.

                            In PvP, this ring doesn't really work unless:
                            A. You have a long ranged weapon.
                            B. You have a fast weapon and are good at dodging.
                            C. You are a caster and are good at dodging.
                            D. You are really, really good at parrying.
                            E. You have a really good sense of spacing.
                            F. You have really bad connection.
                            or
                            G. You are using hacks to get infinite health.

                              The section in notes "boost to AR is misleading" seems like its based on game knowledge prior to people figuring out how AR>RES=ABS works. If the item is increasing AR by 10% then it will change the absorption reduction/damage multiplier breakpoints in a lot of situations.

                              The summary is correct though. As with increasing AR in other ways, you will net more damage vs low resistance enemies and players.

                                Great synergy for faith casters, since you have the most access to healing and are at full health most of the time.
                                Both Lloyd rings are natural equips for clerics.

                                  Theres is a perfect niche use for this ring. It fits well in the stealth build (how i play) invisibility spell with lingering dragon crest for duration aldrich sapphire for FP regen and slumbering dragon crest for no footsteps. That combined with a luck/dex build and a nice stabby dagger is an excellent way to make your way through most of the game. Few enemies can still perceive you at more than 2 meters with the gear on, so your always at full hp

                                    You don't have to be at full hp for it to work, just very close. with my warrior who has 1045 hp the ring was still in effect at 1036 hp

                                        The only reason for using this ring is if you plan on going full archer, or for some heavy sniping. Mages already have spell boost rings so I don't see a reason to use this one.

                                          I fail to see any reason to use this ring, to be honest. +10% damage while full health? That is a pretty significant boost, yes, but only if you're full health, and regardless if you're playing PvP or PvE, you're almost never going to be at full health through most of the fights. You'll most often only get a +10% boost the first 1-3 hits, before you're hit yourself.If you want a +damage boost ring, I still think;* Chloranty Ring (+7 stamina, for more dodging AND attacking, skill uses etc),* Ring of Favor (+10% stamina for more of the same as Chloranty),* any of the three attunement rings for more spells (Saint's ring, Deep Ring or Darkmoon Ring, +1, +1, +2 attunements respectively),* Young Dragon Ring or Bellowing Dragoncrest Rings (boost sorcery damage by +12% and +20% respectively),* Great Swamp Ring and Witch's Ring (+12% and +20% respectively on Pyromancy damage),* Morne's Ring and Rung of the Sun's First born (+12% and +20% respectively on miracle-damage),* any of the Three Pillars (Knight's, Scholar, Priestess rings, which gives you +5 of Strenght, Intelligence and Faith respectively, for more damage using weapons, sorceries and damage-miracles), or the Hunter's ring (+5 Dex) for more weapon/magic damage* Leo Ring (which boosts counterattack damage with +15%)* Hornet Ring (+30% critical damage)* Farron Ring (+30% consumption of FP while using skills, effectively letting you use more Skills)* any of the four Clutch Rings (+15% elemental damage, at the cost of +10 physical incoming damage)* Red Tearstone Ring (even if it's only active when less than 20%hp, that's still alot more of the time than you'll be at *full* health, and it gives *twice* the damageboost!)* Pontiff's Right Eye (+15% damage, compared to the Lloyd's +10%, even if you need to attack 3-5 times quick)* Flynn's Ring (which boosts your damage with up to +15% when having low equip load (5% of max), down to no damage boost at 45.6% E.L., and 10% damage boost at 15% equip load. This ring is just as effective as Lloyd's ring while using less than 15% E.L., but while Lloyd's only work until you're hit ONCE, I see alot of people actually running around with no armor, effectively being under the desired E.L.)And that's not even counting Knight Slayer's Ring, or Horsehoof Ring, which is rings that eats away on the enemies stamina bar while they're blocking, effectively letting you break their guard for clean hits.Say, for discussions sake, that you are not a caster (therefore neglecting 9 entire rings, the +12% and +20% of the caster damage rings (sorcery, pyromancy, miracle) and the attunement rings) and only uses melee, that means there's still;* Chloranty/Ring of Favor (that gives you more stamina/stamina regen for more attacks),* The Knight's Ring and The Hunter's Ring (+5 Strenght and +5 Dexterity respectively for more weapon damage),* the Leo Ring and Hornet rings (for greater damage while backstabbing and counterattacking - which, while still situational, is still going to occur more often than you being at full hp),* Farron Ring (for getting more high damaging weapon skills out of your FP)* the elemental Clutch Rings (which increases weapons infuse-damage with +15%),* the RTSR (while still being situational with the 20%-of-max-hp thing is still going to occur more often than full hp AND being double boost),* and the Flynn and Pontiff's rings - still not counting the stamina-penalty-when-blocking-rings (Hoorsehoof and Knight slayer).That means there's 13 rings which has the potential to be of greater use for you to deal damage, than this Lloyd's ring, seeing as *one hit, or poison/toxic ticks, or even falling damage* is all it takes for you to lose out of a 10% damage boost.While most of them are somewhat situational (backstabbing only, counterattacking only, being at 20%hp, having lower E.L., attacking more than 3-5 times in a rapid succession, using Weapon Skills to boost attack, using infused/buffed weapons, or killing off the enemies stamina when they block to stagger them), they all have their uses that is vastly superior than a "+10% damage increase, unless you're hit even once".And if you're a caster, I see no reason to use it anyway, since if you want to be a glass-cannon caster, you'll still use;* a +12%boost ring for your class (Young Dragon Ring - Sorcery, Great Swamp Ring - Pyromancy, Morne's Ring - Miracles)* a +20%boost ring for your class (Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring - Sorcery, Witch's Ring - Pyromancy, Ring of the Sun's First Born - Miracles)(netting you a +32% boost, or is it +34.4% boost? Not sure if they stack additively or multiplicatively)* a Clutch ring of your chosen elemental (+15% boost)and either an attunement ring (Darkmoon Rings +2 attunement slots), Sage Ring (for faster spellcasting), Ashen Estus Ring (for gaining more FP/use of flask = more spellcasts), Scholar/Priestess Ring (+5 of Intelligence or Faith respectively), Dusk Crown Ring (-25% FP useage / spell = more spells, therefore more damage)This means, if you use the three first rings I mentioned, you'll have a +47% boost of your spell damage (Great Swamp Ring, Witch's Ring, Fire Clutch Ring = +47% pyromancy bonus), and if you use Darkmoon Rings you'll have plenty of more spells to use, or (which I recommend) Ashen Estus Ring for more FP/flask use.Even if you go Glass-cannon mode and want to maximize your damage output, *any other ring*, in *any combination* is still going to be better than this Lloyd's Sword Ring.

                                            I'm not sure if this is bug or not, but HP doesn't need to be 100% full.I have 977 maximum HP and still gives me full bonus at 969, but not at 967. Full HP probably means >99%.
