Large Titanite Shard Usage
- Reinforce regular Weapons to +6
- 12 shards required in total to get a weapon from +3 to +6
- 2 large shards for +4
- 4 large shards for +5
- 6 large shards for +6
Large Titanite Shard Locations
- Can be purchased infinitely from Shrine Handmaid for 4,000 souls after giving her the Easterner's Ashes found in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.
- 1x In High Wall of Lothric: by damaging the drake enough to trigger it to leave.
- 2x in Farron Keep: dropped by 2 Crystal Lizards:
- On the bridge near the dead drake, above the Old Wolf of Farron bonfire.
- To get there: Take the lift take the stairs on the right, turn right immediately. Go forth until you reach the big gate and jump down on the right. Now just follow the path.
- 2x At Cathedral of the Deep: one dropped by each of the Giants.
- 2x At Catacombs of Carthus:
- 1 on a corpse near the bonfire, in the dead end where the boulder turns. (Video)
- 1 on a corpse near the bonfire, on the ledge above the rats, at the other end of the boulders path.
- 12x At Smouldering Lake:
- 1 on a corpse below the fire demon, after climbing down the collapsed suspension bridge.(Video)
- 2x on two corpses in the lake, in front of the entrance to the location (Video)
- 2x on two corpses in the lake, on the right to the entrance to the location (Video)
- 2x on the corpses in the cave on the right (Video)
- 3x Found in Demon Ruins, in a chest behind an illusory wall, near a nest of rats.

- 1x on a corpse atop a short staircase to the right of the path, whilst coming from Central Irithyll bonfire (Video)
- 1x on a corpse hanging on the railing. To the right of the path leading upwards to the fire-casters from the first courtyard with a fountain. (Video)
- 1x on a corpse to the right of the bottom of the hidden stairs -- Whilst making your way to the Church of Yorshka bonfire from Central Irithyll, to your left up a short staircase you will find a Crystal Lizard. If you attack one of the railings there, you will reveal a hidden staircase down. (Video)
- 1x on a corpse by a dead-end, to the right of the main path leading into the big building/church. It is on the opposite side of the Church of Yorshka bonfire. (Video)
- 1x on a corpse next to the elevator shortcut (Video)
- 1x after the elevator shortcut, take the stairs up and at the top, before entering the building, make a left and drop down to a lower platform. (Video)
- 1x after the distant manor bonfire heading towards Irithyll dungeon
- 1x after the Pontiff Sulyvahn fight, proceed forward and outside. Head right to find the shard. (Video)
- 1x atop a ledge, that you can see when you are going towards the dead-giants field, coming from the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire. You can reach it by going across the field, heading left and up the stairs, and past the fire-deacons. (Video)

- x1 after pontiff's bonfire to the very far end where you climb the roofs and encounter anor londo archers

What about DLC? There is crystal lizard before the bridge in Ariandel that drops one
I do a slightly modified version of the farm strategy mentioned below. I timed them both and this gets 4 drops about 10sec faster then doing 4 cycles with just the one crow, and it's slightly more interactive (requires toxic mist, story teller staff, hidden body spell, lingering dragon crest ring, and preferably spook and any item discovery improvements you got). Start at Corvion settlement bonfire, toxic mist the crow hanging from the bridge from the ledge, it will fall, then while still locked on poison mist it with the story teller staff WA. Then run up the hill and turn invisible and preferably silent and do the same to the crow that jumps down in your path, then head to the left side church building past the fence and do the same to the one in the back and the other will come join him in the two poison+toxic clouds. Then run out and take a rusted coin and wait till they die. Simply doing one kind of poison isn't enough for them to die they need to be poisoned+toxic. Then backtrack and collect all the items.

Mid game you can farm these at The Painted World of Ariandel. Start at the Corvian Settlement bonfire. Head out the door and there a Corvian knight with talons hanging upside down on the far right bridge. I like to hit it with dart. Then I poison it, throw black fire orbs at it until death. Hop down and collect. It’ll spawn sharp gems every once and while.

When you kill the giants in the Cathedral of the Deep, make sure to pick up those large titanite shards right away. They'll despawn if you leave the area or reload the game. Kind of stupid when you consider items are usually in the place of the enemy you killed, such as when swordmaster falls off the cliff, you can still get the uchigatana.

3 are dropped by the Gravetender Greatwolf each time you fight it before it's boss fight. It spawns until killed at the entrance and the exit to the millwood ruins, for 6 large shards total.

The Lothric Knight walking away from the Lothric Castle is by far the easiest one. If you've come that far he's not too much trouble, and he drops the Lothric set as well as occasional Sunlight Medals.

How unexpected, Fextra not including information. There are many large shards in Ashes of Ariandel. I believe its 1 from each large wolf, 2 from crystal lizards, and one drops everytime from the Corvian Knight located in the Corvian Settlement.

You can farm these 100% drop rate from the first Black Crow with dual claws you encounter in DLC1, it respawns and you can just kill it over and over again.

The Farron Follower's in Andriel DLC can drop them, though the drop chance seems pretty low. Still might be worth it if you want to upgrade your weapon to +6 before the Abyss watchers.

the anor londo silver knights do not drop large titanite shards, they only drop titanite shards

If you summon the master in order to cheese the dancer fight and power a weapon to level +9 one of the hardest part is getting large titanite. I found that the first swordsman guarding the door at the Lothric Castle bonfire has a retardedly good droprate (I managed to get 8 in a row at one point) as well as dropping the usual set items. Combined with the fact that you can reset after killing him near instantly if done right it is a great way to get them early.

These are also dropped by all of the man-serpents, as well as titanite chunks and lightening gems (really rarely for those). But there are four man-serpents that are very easy to kill and farm to the right of the ArchDragon Peak bonfire, and they give you a lot of souls too so its good to farm (As long as you have the serpent rings on and an offhand crystal rapier and such)

You can trade a fire bomb/rope bomb for a large titanite with pickle-pee crow

I've been going through the smouldering lake both to complete the area and to get loot/farm black knight drops and have been finding that practically everything drops titanite shards commonly (More than 50% at the absolute least) and also uncommonly drops large titanite shards. If you want to farm titanite or Large titanite just go through killing the Ghru, fire demons, and also the giant crabs in the lake area. It's incredible.

They do not drop from the Giants in cathedral or lizards. They start dropping AFTER catcombs of carthus, so i am assuming that if you skipped cathedral and came backt o giants then they would drop them. but they only gave me 2 x titanite shard from killing them. might want to update info.

I can confirm that decimating the dragon's lifebar to around 20-25% will make him fly away, which grants you a large titanite shard in return. (version 1.03, PS4)

I was not able to find this near the Giants in Cathedral of the Deep. Found 2 in Catacombs of Carthus, and 1 close to the bonfire in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley
In ashes of ariandal dlc you can find 2 ona corpse after the 2 milwood knight right before you enter the fly arena
