Loretta is a mentioned character in Dark Souls 3.
She is somehow related to Greirat of the Undead Settlement, and finding her remains "Loretta's Bone" is part of his questline.

So Loretta gave me a bone... Huh? I was all but certain that it would have been the other way around, if anything. It gets lonley out there on that wall.

If you talk to the caged hollows NPC in Undead Settlement, he will say that someone is locked in the High Wall of Lothric (Greirat) and his grandma died here.

Theory: loretta is greirat's mother and she was sad about greirat's thievery (whose mom doesn't?). So greirat regrets stealing things and decides to give this ring to her old mother and make her sure that he is a good guy now and he'll never steal again.
He probaly left her mother to pillage and steal and then got arrested. Sad but more realistic compared to the other tragedies in soulsborne
