I think the ar of this weapon was kept intentionally low because if it had ar similar to say a lothric knight sword it would be the best straight sword in the game hands down. Insane moveset, poking heavies, very fast railgun weapon art, one of the longest ranges out of all the straightswords AND it fits on a quality build which BY THE WAY has some of the best weapons in dark souls 3 period.

Was fighting as a Aldrich Faithful when I got hit with this WA; afterwards I could cast miracles. Does the WA prevent you from using spells?

        • Anonymous

This has been my go-to weapon for PvP recently, the WA hits pretty fast and far too, and I personally don’t mind the range/AR even with softcap stats. It has never failed me

          • Anonymous

Anyone have an extra one? I dropped mine, to trade to a buddy so I can get the combined one, and I got summoned at the same time and it disappeared

            • Anonymous

I like this weapon a lot but the type of build its suited for is boring. 40/40 quality build with minimal faith investment? how original. It would have been more interesting if the WA damage scaled primarily with faith imo.

AR is amogst the lowest in it's class, but it has so much reach the 2h r2 will truecombo/rollcatch 8/10 times. And the WA r2 hurts like hell up close.

Low damage compared to other straightswords? Yes.

                  Range? Y E S

                  Fashion Souls? Y E S

                  Special Beam Cannon? YESSS!

imo its decent for what it is but seriously, what is that faith scaling and why tf isnt this a holy weapon?

                      • Anonymous

It's a cool weapon, and stylish as hell too, but really lackluster in the end. If you want to see this weapon done justice, use it in Cinders mod.

                        • Anonymous

One of the saddest damage and scaling stats for any boss weapon. Seriously.
It should start with D in Strength, D in Dex, and C in Faith.
And at +5 it should have D in Strength, B in Dex, and A in Faith.
Either that or the base damage needs to be severely increased.
So much for a "holy" sword. At least its a good weapon to have on the side to switch for the weapon art once in a while.

                          • Anonymous

What kind of damage does the weapon art do. Cause when you land that attack is gives off a hue similar to that of getting hit by magic attacks?

                            • Anonymous

Great offhand weapon to have if you're carrying around big weapons. It's fast, can break through shields with the wa R2, and the laser beam is practically a guaranteed finisher. If I were to categorize this weapon it would be the equivalent of the hunter pistol from Bloodborne which the few who mastered that beast of a weapon will find out how to make this one useful.

This would be the best straight sword in the game if it had better scaling. Seriously just 30-40ish more ar at 40/40/14 would be enough. It is one of the longest in the class with one of the better movesets. The scaling is a shame considering the boss you get it from is 1) endgame and 2) The boss is namesake of the kingdom the game is based in.

Pretty low damage compared to other straight swords, but it more than makes up for it with it’s length and WA. Overall, a pretty fun weapon, good for fashion souls too.

This weapon is pretty much a callback to demonbrandt (a lame ome, tho) with a cool weapon art, but that's it.

                                    • Anonymous

This weapon is straight up bad, I mean you can use it, but why would you

Its only use is catching people near death, but you could just use throwing knives (or git gud and learn to roll catch)

Best weapon for white phantom twinks: Who better to help an upcoming ashen one on his journey than Lothric himself?

WTF.. "Lothric Holy Swprd" => Faith scal E. A random Longsword with infusion is better. I think i got it now, if it's looks good ans is hard to get, it sucks.

For my fashion set I just use

                                            Lothrics holy sword
                                            Ragged mask
                                            Pontiff knight armour

                                            Sunless leggings

(Be sure to have 30 vigor or higher for some neat dodging or you can use havels ring)

This weapon had so much potential, sadly FROM didn't buff it in any way. Only good thing it has is the weapon art for finishing off people running away, but that's if you can get them that low considering how low the AR is.

                                              • Anonymous

I'm gonna be honest. I do not enjoy fighting against this weapon. That being said, it does look pretty cool. Wouldn't make a build around it though. In any case, I came here to see what damage type the WA was, to know whether to bring GMB or not. Apparently it's just physical so that wouldn't be useful. Now I just need to find a good counter strategy to opponents that constantly back away and I should be good.

Stupid fuking sword with fuking annoying range attack for trash scrubs that are afraid of getting close and personal. Gey ass shiity casuls without any ball and their tendency of spamming R1 sure love this fuking annoying piece of garbage cuz they're cowards!

This sword is for PvP mostly many wpns are better as of PvE such as gotthard twinsword and lothric knight sword. The build that suits this wpn is a dex/att build meaning builds which genuinely take advantage of superior WA. Of you want a quality build go pick up one of the other 2 wpns i mentioned it should perform way better for you.

                                                    • Anonymous

doesn't it look exactly like blue blood sword drom Demon Souls but has no secret luck OP scaling in the same time?

                                                      • Anonymous

^ Pro's Awesome Look ( Matches Fire Witch Set Well ;D ) Longer than most strait swords. Weapon art is a ranged, strait shooting projectile that deals physical damage and bonus damage for landing the sword thrust and the projectile together. Can used right after the shield breaker weapon art to catch opponents off guard and at significant range. Decent weapon for Dex/Faith Builds. - Cons Low Damage Output compared to other strait swords. Can't be buffed. Weapon art stance is more easily readable as your sword glows every time you use it even before you attack. ( ^ might be a good or bad thing depending on the person) Can only be obtained late game.

Okay I’m legit thinking of trying to make a useable build with this weapon and I am using the mugentmonkey planner. It is showing the damage stats differently than what this page states. Can anyone confirm the damage values at the different caps?

                                                          • Anonymous

How would you compare this to the sunlight straight sword which one is better I've been debating on doing s faith quality build but I'm having trouble deciding which one to use both seem to have good ar but it's a tough decision because both seem good

                                                            • Anonymous

It's weapons like this that makes me which Divine and Occult returned in Dark Souls 3 as an auxiliary effect for weapons to be supereffective on certain enemies (and players). Or tweak Blessed and Dark to somewhat resemble those two better (without the magic damage).

                                                              • Anonymous

Honestly I think this weapon is one of the best arguments that (some) boss weapons should have been infusable in DS3. It wouldn't take much to make this a weapon comparable to other Straight Swords. It's among the longest of the weapon class, it has the Longsword's excellent move set with an even better weapon art... Its AR is just slightly too low, considering its weight and stat requirements.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

It's a straight sword that fits well into a quality build. Don't know why so many people want it to be buffed. Sure it's AR isn't as high as the other straight swords but How does that make it any worse? It's still a straight sword lol. I like to use it on my paladin role-play character. It's weapon art is awesome, it takes the best part of the regular ss wa (the guard break) and pairs it up with dat sexy laser beam that if you don't use until your opponent is almost dead can really catch them off guard and finish them off. It also has the ss move set, the best move set in the game period. This sword is proof that this game is balanced around invasions, not duels. This sword would be useless in a duel but in an invasion it's great.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Just tested today (bit late, but oh well).

The Weapon Art R2 is PURE PHYSICAL DAMAGE. A Black Knight Shield and Knight Shield both completely blocked all the damage.

It seems that the Weapon Art R2 also does about 1.5x more damage than a standard R1.

                                                                      • Anonymous

The guard, handle, and pommel of the sword somewhat resembles the wings of the angels in the DLC. There is little reason for the sword to look so organic, so what would be the lore implications of the angel that visited Gertrude being killed to make Lothric's sword?

                                                                        • Anonymous

My theory is that the twin princess greatsword is the real sword of the prince. And the other 2, holy and Lorians, are just illusions like the two princes themself. They are meant to represent they owners two sides, outer and inner, and thats all. One strong but deformed, the other one beautifull but weak. "Lorian of Lothric" only had one sword in the end. the one we get from fusing the 2 illusions.

                                                                          • Anonymous

"Holy" doesn't automaticaly mean "faith" in Lothric. From what I saw the royal sorcerers tried to fuse miracles with intelligence and created this "holyness" whatever that is. And the prince is using holy sorcery(!) for example. Not holy miracles. Only normal ones like Wrath of God. Means just because it is holy doesn't mean it has to scale with faith. In my DS3 version the sword doesn't even has "Holy" in its name. Here it's just called the "Platinsword".

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

God damnit Fromsoft, it would have been so easy to give this te Sunlight Straight Sword treatment and make this viable for miracle builds! Instead we are left with this crap...

                                                                                • i think this should absolutely be balanced according to the sunlight straight sword, if the S3 is a support faith straight sword, then this should be a solo/invader faith straight sword
current stats for me with 30/35/30/40 at +5:
                                                                                  S3: 196+207(403) with S3 buff: 449
                                                                                  LHS: 196+159(355) with S3 buff: 396

so one might say "well just make the scaling the same and give a pontiff-like buff to the lhs right?" NO, see, that's not enough because while it might seem that the oath of sunlight is just a buff for the S3 and as a support for your friends AND your other weapons(which i guess could be balanced saying that the LHS W-art is just sas strong if given a pontiff buff extra skill) it also adds on top of it the fact that the S3 can be buffed both by magic and items, while the LHS can't in ay way other with body boffs like oath of sunlight and sacred oath.
given that from will never make the LHS buffable, i'd say give it the same str/dex scaling as the S3 but with even better faith scaling aswell as the pontiff like buff.

consider that the S3 along with a crystal chime+5 lightning blade and the oath of sunlight with those stats(which should be less or more the ideal for these straight swords, at least by intuition without considerin int) gets to an absurd 617AR, a non-buffed dark lothric sword is 548(c-c-a-a), while a lightning one is 498(d-c-s)
in my opinion, it should have enouh faith scaling that with those stats it should reach by base stats the AR of the S3 with S3 buff and with the pontifflike buff it should reach about less or more the strenght of the lightning lohric sword with these stats(which should be stronger with say, 30-40-35 than the buffed lhs with 30-35-40)

                                                                                  so in short:
give the same physical scaling as S3
give it abundantly higher faith scaling than S3
give it a pontifflike W-art buff

and also change a bit the scaling of the lightning lothric sword to match a slightly more physical damage focused build than the self-buffed LHS, so that it wouldn't be too weak in comparison.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

If its blessed then it should count for a blessed weapons regeneration Hp and dealing extra dmg to reanimated. Give a D Str ,C Dex ,C Faith would make it viable for Faith Builds. Also wouldnt it be cool to have the Faith version of Crystal soul spear like Lotric uses?

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            • Anonymous

FROM needs to heavily buff the faith scaling or just buff the base damage significantly if this is ever going to be worth using. :(

                                                                                              • Anonymous

This is going to be a very common site, get used to it.
It is used mainly as a poke and can easily finish you off if you are below 25% health as it can be spammed.

Just double roll to either side of the user, poke back with a rolling light attack and keep them from having enough space to use it again. The sword itself isn't exactly something to worry about in PVP (and they will usually have a backup weapon) but if used by somebody who know's what they are doing it sure can be a pain in the neck!

Have fun, enjoy and good luck!

Really good choice for a clear fencer (without pyro, magic, crossbow etc.). AR r2 allow to punish all UGS, and if you out of range, you can always shoot with art attack. Catching rolls, gotting steppers, guard breaks and stuff. Damage is low and if you seek duel for 2-3 hit, move along. Eat medium of stamina, watch this. This is weapon for fun and refained duels, not for victory seekers "ha-ha, catch you, take 1200+ combo". Can be a good second weapon for finishing (quick, long, fast shooting art catching even while runing side of you). Good weapon in prop hands.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Fighting undead, dragons or anything weak against magic.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Also, note that the sword has higher dex scaling, which could imply that its meant to be used with skill.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

Aren't people just approaching this weapon the wrong way. Let's take a look at Lothric/Lorian's boss fight for reference: During the fight it is the champion Lorian who attacks you physically while the frail Lothric provides support for his brother by throwing magic at you to keep the pressure on you which provides openings for lorian, teleporting Lorian close to you and healing his brother when needed. Let's take a look at how the weapons compare: Lothric's holy sword has low base damage with low scaling, but has the instant light beam. Lorian's Greatsword has high AR and hyperarmor. The swords literally perfectly match the brothers, yes? People expect to be able to hit like a truck with Lothric's holy sword because it's an end game weapon, but the point was to match the brothers' styles. If using Lothric's holy sword, then you'll want to fight how a frail, sickly person would fight, with skill and strategy over brute force and tanking. Mix up the r1s, charged attacks and most importantly the weapon arte to keep your foe under pressure, give yourself more openings this way.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

Stop making weapons that would be absolutely perfect on a faith build not scale with faith at all. Like honestly are y'all stupid? Why would you design these weapons to look so holy and make one think it's for a faith build and then make it a dex/quality weapon. Absolutely stupid and ridiculous.

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

While the damage can be found lacking, the weapon art more than makes up for it, especially since it also has the ability to scoop shields. Because this also counts as a thrust weapon, it takes advantage of bonus damage from doing Ripostes. Additionally, this sword is longer than most straight swords, matching the Irithyll Straight Sword in length. All in all, this sword is a niche weapon, dealing high damage in certain situations with amazing utility, but performing sub-par without skilled use.
