Moaning Shield is a Greatshield in Dark Souls 3.
A deformed greatshield given to Eygon of Carim upon being conferred knighthood.
The giant woman's face that protects Eygon is that of his sister, some years his senior.
Skill: Moan
Offer a gentle prayer to the shield, causing the woman's face to give out a low moan and attract enemies.
Notes and Tips
- Cannot be Infused.
- Can be buffed with Magic Shield or Great Magic Shield
- Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
- Provides an average block of 78.6%. Exceptionally solid blocking, but requires the highest strength of all greatshields at 50 points. Also boasts the second highest stabillity in game, 82 at +5.
- Can be given to Pickle Pee, Pump-a-Rum Crow in exchange for a Blessed Gem.
- Using Magic Shield on this shield when maximally upgraded will result in no stamina loss through blocking, however, elemental damage will chip through.
- At +4 it can survive a fully upgraded, full Ledo's Great Hammer weapon art if you have around 40 endurance.

- Dropped by Eygon of Carim.
- Looted from Eygon of Carim's corpse late-game in the old cell of Irina of Carim.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

for some reason when I activate the weapon art the shield doesn't moan, even though I have 50 str. My character carries out the action, and the blue skull appears under my health bar, but there's no noise. Any tips?

I think the 50 STR requirement should have been reserved for Havel's shield, as that one is by far the heaviest in the game.

Magic shield's stability boost is 18. Combined with this beast of a shield's whopping 82, you get exactly 100 stability without going with either the Greatshield of Glory or Great Magic Shield (which requires 18 INT instead of 10 and lasts only half as much). I wonder if this was intended, it's pretty much optimization at its best.

Your Character have to be female on the current Patch (1.09)! On Male Characters the weapon art is silenced :(

Idk if any one knows this but the weapon art is op for pve you get infinite poise and reduced damage (while moan is happening) the only thing good against it is multi hit magic and ring knight weapons as well as frayd blade laser try it out

It's interesting simply because his job is to protect the maiden he serves as a knight of Carim.
So he gets a shield that draws enemy attention to him.
If they kill him who watches over the blind girl with a bell.
That's a tragic thought, especially since we find Mournes ring and a book of Carim Miracles on two corpses that were mangled by Skinhounds.
No wonder Eygon locked Irina in a cage and waited and waited. He figured it out. That's why he lets us take her without a fight. She's safer with us than she ever was with him.

Okay, so, there is something weird going on with the weapon art. On my character STR/FTH character with 50 STR the shield doesn't moan, but on my quality character with 40/40 STR/DEX the weapon art produces a moan and it doesn't matter if I two-hand it or one-hand it.

The Moan is treated as a Voice effect. If you've turned the speech volume down all the way you won't hear the moan.
Also, if I hear the twin princes lines one more time I will do something unfortunate.
