Boreal Outrider Knight is an enemy in Dark Souls 3.

Boreal Outrider Knight Enemy Description

  • A powerful knight that serves as a mini-boss.
  • One can be found before the first Road of Sacrifices bonfire. Just take the elevator all the way down. This one drops the Irithyll Straight Sword. Tip: Run past it, get the Road of Sacrifices bonfire, then simply "cheese" it by attacking it from outside the double doors -- it will be unable to pass through them.
  • Another one can be found near the two Wyverns in Lothric Castle, down the stairs in the left building. This one drops the Irithyll Rapier.
  • The last one is found past an illusory wall in the Grand Archives. This one drops the Outrider Knight Set.

Somehow managed to lure out the lothric one, looted some chests. The thing came back, so i hid beind some boxes, which worked, it didn't notice me

I just tried to get the one between Undead Settlement and Road of Sacrifices to fall down the elevator shaft but instead he ended up riding the elevator up and getting stuck in the wall on the way, and now even with bonfire resets, he is still stuck there! I can see his blue glow and parts of his sword sticking out of the wall. He is alive and untouchable as far as I can tell so far. I wanted that Irithyll Straight Sword too :(

Lothric castle version can get jammed up at the bridge where the wyverns breathe fire, and his only way forward is down with the Pus of Man, which will body him in short order.

          • You can cheese the first one by just standing outside the gate where the bonfire is and deleting him from save distance. But I would recomment to learn to parry them there instead for a while. If you learn how to parry them they won't be much of a threat for you anymore since they only get more health and damage but the moveset will be always the same.

DS1: "Hey, you remember those tough bosses from early on in your journey? Here are some slightly weaker versions in packs for you to challenge and sense how far you've come"
DS3: "Hey, you remember that tough boss from like 20 minutes ago? Here it is on ****ing PCP. Have fun"

              • Anonymous

the one enemy that i still dont really understand the moveset of. it feels like they either sit there doing basically nothing and let you win for free or they actually decide to attack you and you get aggressively rollcaught to death

                • Anonymous

As someone who only has experience in elden ring I found them as a similar enemy to the bloodhound knight in their speed and attacks

                  • Anonymous

The first one was truly easy, the second one challenging but the last one omfg, he was worse than the knight boss to acess the area, the books trying to kill you didn't help as well.

When I first met one of these I thought I'd had an fps drop, but no, that's just how fast they rush you.

Struggling with the one in lothric castle? Lure him to the place wgere two pus of men are under the bridge, drop down and agro the pus of man to transform, then go in doorway and watch pus melts him

                        • Anonymous

I couldn't figure out why the first jerk was so easy and the other 2 have been such pains. Then I remembered that I cheesed the first fight by getting it in the doorway to the Road of Sacrifices. I took out the Lothric Castle one after I cleared the wyverns and had the easy run from the bonfire to it. The one in the Grand Archives can absolutely eff off though. The run to him is annoying because of the stupid stunlocking thralls. Then I have to remember to have a wax bath if I don't to also get cursed while fighting a fast af piece of crap dealing frost damage. I hate that they stuck him in the way of a shortcut too.

recovers from previous attack and flies across the room before you can raise an estus to your lips even if you buffer the heal immediately after your roll.
tracks you super hard even when he is on his toes at a 60 degree angle from the floor winding up for like 2 seconds for an attack (try rotating your body while doing this!) even though he can also just swing his sword ultra fast so there's no reason for him to be winding up that long other than to be arbitrarily harder to anticipate
                            clips through literally everything
                            great enemy.

most recent encounter i finally killed him because he clipped INTO the wall while i was fighting him on the stairs in lothric castle and he couldn't move anymore.

i beat the game twice, once on SL60 with +7 weapons. now i've gotten all the way up to twin princes on a SL30 character with +3 weapons. i've beaten every boss including all the DLC bosses at least once. i still have no idea how to fight these *******s though.

                              • I wasn't prepared for this. I go down a lift and get insta-gibbed by weird armored ice dog that flies across the room at mach 5 and attacks you relentlessly like a rabid pitbull on crack

                                • Anonymous

If you lure him to the lift then roll over then button, making the lift go up without either of you. He will fall down the shaft and die. You still get the sword drop.

i can beat him easily without cheese with just roll/strafe and attack he is basically the "tutorial" for twin princess.
but doesnt mean this is a good enemy, this dude just badly designed speed and attack recovery, wise most new player will get clapped hard.
this dude is more of bb or sekiro mob his speed are just too fast for ds3

Found an easy way to cheese the one in Lothric Castle. Agro him, take him to the upper floor. From there, exit to the courtyard with the dragons (obviously you must have dealt with them first) and make him focus you with the fence (along the steps) between the two of you. He will be stuck there attacking you constantly, but wont be able to hit you. Use any ranged stuff to kill it. He even sometimes lines up his head enough for a headshot, perfect for arrows.

The second outrider. I dont like it. All the time i got fps drops downstairs on the console. Makes the battle a little bit unfair.

You can cheese the one in undead settlement. I got the knight to go up the elevator and the ai just stopped working. Firebombs to finish the job

                                          • Anonymous

they should add more to the outrider knights they are cool and two bosses are outriders so wonder if there are any other knights who turned into a boss

Very balanced enemy that totally does not break the speed at which the game is played. Very fun to fight, 10/10 FS

The only reason Pontiff hides in his room because he created these atrocities and realised he dun goofed big time

                                                  • Anonymous

The one at Lothric castle can be cheeses by killing it through a wall. When crossing the bridge to the wyverns, drop down to the left on the wyvern side of the bridge. That wall there is the outside of the room the BOK is in. Hit the wall with (assuming) a long weapon, and you’ll get hits on him. He won’t go far as is drawn to the wall hits. I was using 2-handed R1 attacks with either the Hollowslayer Greatsword or Claymore (forget which I was using at the time). I discovered this on my first NG play through as I was testing walls for illusions.

                                                    • Anonymous

So I found a way to cheese the lothric one. Basically kill all enemies besides the hollow that turns into the pus of man. Then kite/lure it into the pit. If you run fast enough, it will get stuck, then mage/pyro/shoot it to death. With any luck the manpus will aggro it and make your work even easier. Reward the manpus by putting it out of its misery.

                                                      • Anonymous

My third playthrough and I killed the second one in less than 10 seconds using Black Fire Orb on my Pyro build. Just chilling on the other side of the staircase. LOL

                                                            • Anonymous

Bruh, dude just roll to attacks and beat that outriders to death I am really surprised to see people struggle and even die to them.

                                                              • Anonymous

The archives one can be cheesed if you lure him out to where a dead end stairway is (where the little guy was throwing firebombs) and he won’t follow u up the stairs. I used sorcery to finish him but spose u could use black firebombs or what have you

                                                                • Getting the rapier and armor solo at low level can be such a pain, I play on base ps4 and found these enemies seem to cause the game fo drop fps occasionally its like fighting a laggy player in pvp. I don’t understand why they made this enemy quite so powerful. It can practically teleport, it has high poise, and is so fast that its near impossible to stagger as it requires slow big weapons.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Outrider knight? Hard?? I just ran past him to the road of sacrifices bonfire and pelted him to death with arrows!

                                                                    • Anonymous

B team did a great job. If you stay at their rear they can't touch you. Also dark hand deals some serious damage.

                                                                      • Anonymous

For those having trouble with the knight in Undead Settlement: can be cheesed. Get him to slowly come after you, and when he’s right by the door, snipe him outside. He’s rather reluctant to go through

                                                                        • I know it's a stretch, but these remind me a lot of Venom. The muscular build, the feral movements, the ferocious fighting style... even the design on the "face" reminds me of Venom's visage.

                                                                          • Anonymous

For the one before the road of sacrifices life him to the elevator and get on the elevator he should continue to attack and kill himself. For the one in Lothric leave one puss man alive and lure to the pus man.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Easy to kill at Lorith Castle with the following:

Buy 30 Firebombs. Run down then back up to lure him up slowly.
Stand on other side of stairs, throw firebombs, when he gets close, jump down to where you came from.
                                                                              Rince - Repeat.

It's cheesy but hey, so is he.

                                                                              • The one at Lothric Castle, I had to cheese him.

First I clear up the vicinity of Dragon Barracks bonfire, kill every enemy there and the lone enemy in the room above the Outrider chamber. I want a clear path to lure him out to the castle gate bridge and drop him into the ditch below.

Once that is done, it's time to lure him out with an arrow to the head. Hide at the bottom of the stair and shoot one arrow. Lead him to the bridge. Get yourself to the end of the bridge and turn either right or left. He will lurch at you while he is in the center of the bridge and with luck, he'll drop himself into the ditch.

Turn him into an arrow porcupine.

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Whoever added these guys to the game is a complete idiot. Ive been playing this game since launch and these are the only enemies that end up killing me. Not because they are hard, but because they are unfair and dont belong in dark souls 3. I see what they did with them trying to make a hard enemy like the titanite demon from dark souls 1, but these guys are just bs. Extremely fast and unpredictable attacks, pretty high damage, roll catches, these guys are death machines. sometimes its even impossible to roll the second attack to the leaping attack because its so fast. Dark souls is about learning your enemies attack patterns and reacting to their attacks. These guys completely negate that feature and its honestly stupid. TL;DR outrider knight big stupid
