If you're doing a pvp / invading only run, you don't need to max estus flasks anyways.
Assert dominance instead by trading your very first bone shard with this shield, and then wear it proudly when you're doing some co-op / invading.

Used this on my SL1 playthrough because:
1. After enough bone shards every estus chug is a full heal, don't need the last few bone shards
2. I'm 2-handing most weapons anyway so I only need it to sit on my back w/ blessed infusion
3. A shield for lowly knights, feels appropriate on an SL1 character

IMPORTANT NOTE: You can Shield Bash with this thing on EITHER HAND. So you can keep catalysts on your right and still use their WA, while ALSO being able to bash, stamina drain and interrupt attacks. This is unique of this shield. I bet it could be useful with melee casters!

I was thinking about making a melee mage build with Great Magic Shield so you can save a lot of STR points and still have a bashing shield, but then realized that piercing shield exists and is better than this in every aspect (it's even lighter!) so this thing is completely worthless besides fashion and memes.

Well, the bash catches people off guard and blocks simultaneously, doing fair damage, so you could theoretically poise an attack when they think you're entering a losing trade. That being said, don't base a build around "tricking" your opponent unless it's to OHK them, because decent players will only fall for a gimmick once or twice, and the ones who fall for it many times are also the ones with 15 estus to chug and 3 tryhard summons to spank you mercilessly

It's a pity this shield has to remain as a complete joke. No phys 100%? Fine, but surely the stability...oh wait, it's terrible. Well at least the elemental defences...nope, they're all garbage too. I did manage to win a PVP fight today partially because I snouted someone so I guess there's that for low level fights since no one really expects it and it also acts as a defence at the same time.

I actually made the trade, thinking it would be the same or a similar look to the unusually bad pork shield from DS2 - sadly, while it's arguably usable early game it now fails to look badass in addition to failing to be badass.Yes I know the story behind DS2s pork shield, but it was still the best looking shield in the game. I was excited to be able to maybe use the dang thing until mid game, but now I'm just down a bone shard until NG+ resets the fire anyways.
