Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth is a NPC in Dark Souls 3.

Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth Information

  • Rosaria is the leader of Rosaria's Fingers, an invasion Covenant in Dark Souls 3.
  • You can turn in Pale Tongues to deepen your devotion, re-allocate your stats, or change your appearance.
  • Re-allocating stats or changing your appearance counts one "rebirth."  You can only be reborn 5 times per NG.  Each rebirth costs one tongue.
  • Backing out of the rebirth does NOT use up one remaining times you may be reborn.
  • You cannot change genders nor change your name during a rebirth.
  • If you have been reborn 5 times and request to be reborn again, it says "Further rebirth is not possible during this lifetime.  Persisting will transform you into a grub."
  • NOTE: Offering Pale Tongues to rank up or equipping covenant ring will make Sirris hostile.

Location

To find Rosaria, go to Cathedral of the Deep and make your way up the shortcut elevator on the left side of the Cleansing Chapel, head outside onto the ledge, turn a corner and climb up the ladder. Head to the hole in the wall at the opposite side of the room and drop down onto the tiled-roof of the cathedral support below. Head up to the top of the support. Enter the cathedral through the first passageway to the right of the support. Traverse the precarious stone arches and reach the opposite side of the room from where you entered. Jump down to a stone platform below, then jump down a second time, to the area with guardrails. From here, simply hug the right wall until you reach Rosaria and her bonfire, past a broken fence and large iron doors.

Questline

Step 1: Rosaria has a quest event related to Leonhard. Progress his quest until Leonhard moves to her room, then the next time Rosaria's Bedchamber is reloaded she will be dead with a black eye orb, and Leonhard will be missing. However, her bed can still be approached for you to be reborn or offer pale tongues.

Step 2: Use the black eye orb in the room above the Aldrich boss room to invade Leonhard's world. Use one of the elevators in the back of the room to gain access to what used to be Gwynevere's quarters. Defeat Leonhard and obtain Rosaria's Soul from him.

Step 3: You can chose to perform Soul Transposition and obtain a miracle from her soul, or return it to her. Alternatively, return her soul to revive her. Afterwards, the Bonfire will not be accessible. Kill the man-grub next to it to relight it.

Trivia

  • Rosaria has some connection to Princess Gwynevere from Dark Souls 1. They are both found worshipped at their bedside, have covenants in their name and Rosaria's Soul can grant you one of Gwynevere's miracles.  Additonally, Leonhard brings her soul to where Gwynevere can be found at the Anor Londo Cathedral in Dark Souls 1.  Given their shared title of Mother, it is possible that Rosaria is Gwynevere.
  • Given that both the Soul of The Dancer and Rosaria's soul yield miracles of Gwynevere, and both the Dancer and Rosaria have connections to Pontiff Sulyvahn and Aldrich, the two likely have some relation.
  • Rosaria's Fingers bears resemblance to the Chaos Servant convenant from Dark Souls 1. Both leaders (Rosaira/The Fair Lady) are guarded/served by human-hybrid creatures (Man-Grub\Egg-Carrier), and have NPC followers (Longfingers\Chaos Servants) go invade other worlds in order to kill people and take an item from them (Pale Tongue\Humanity) in order to give it to their master as an offering. Kirk is a member of the covenant in both games.
  • Rosaria cannot be permanently killed by the player, nor can the player obtain her soul by killing her. She can die, but will revive once the player leaves and returns to her.
  • NPCs connected to Rosaria's Fingers are Ringfinger Leonhard, Longfinger Kirk, Yellowfinger Heysel and Creighton the Wanderer  (according to Sirris, although no further "finger" title is given).
  • Once the player defeats Yellowfinger Heysel and offers a Pale Tongue to Rosaria, Heysel can be summoned as a white phantom near the Keep Ruins bonfire.

A useful piece of info I learned about this NPC is that there is a glitch that allows infinite respecs, as long as you haven't used up all 5. To do this, respec the character as normal and hit confirm, but DO NOT exit the menu. At the menu screen, hit Alt + F4 and quit the game. Then load up the game again and the stats will be reallocated, but the pale tongue will not be consumed, and the rebirth counter will not go down. So, this can be done infinitely. Pretty sure this works on playstation as well, but I don't know how to force quit on playstation, so I can really advise.

Note: when you change appearance the giant archer in the undead settlement will NOT recognize you, you will have to befriend him again

The gods didn't just feared the humans hollowing, they were afraid of something to never to speak of: the shallowing.

Y'all need Jesus and get married more than to thirsting after a pixelated nonvirgin who's petting her maggot baby.

If she is the MOTHER then who is the FATHER? you can't have childeren of rebirth without some sex involved.

              Free Respecialization

              1. Find Rosaria, and select "Reallocate Stats." You must not have used all five Respecs.

              2. Choose the new stats that you'd like the character to have.

              3. Select "Rebirth," this will apply the stats to your character.

              4. At this point, STOP. You will be in the same menu where you chose "Reallocate Stats." Wait for the game to save your data. At no point should you exit this menu.

              5. Exit the game. Either turn off your system or go to the system menu and exit the game. DO NOT EXIT THE MENU TO CLOSE THE GAME BY NORMAL MEANS, you must kill the program while the menu is still selected, right after you allocated your stats.

If done correctly, when you start up the game again, your stats will have changed, but the number of times you may choose to reallocate stats will stay the same.

What can you do without turning Sirris hostile:
                  1. Ask to join Covenant only
                  2. Reallocate
                  3. Change appearance

                  What not to do:
                  1. Equiping the covenant in equipment page
                  2. Offering pale tongue

Conclusion: Do all these after Sirris questline ends, that also prevent Yuria turning hostile.

                  Peace

No mention of how in dark souls 1 that guy kills the firekeeper and takes her soul to Anor Londo, where you invade and fight him outside the room just before Gwynevere.
Oh, and not to mention.. the firekeeper, prior to the events of Ds1 had her tongue cut out. ...
Seriously? No raised eyebrows at that connection...

Rosaria is DS3 version of Gwynevere, that's why her black orb rings in Gwynevere old chamber... plus both have big boobs. Can see Rosaria's cleavage after she died. So she is better left dead lmao

Is there not a connection between Her and Anastacia of Astora? both are killed by someone who brings their soul to gwynevere's and one is a firekeeper while the other is one of the closest characters to a bonfire. neither have a tongue

You'd think reviving her would give her the ability to speak again like with the original keeper at firelink in DS1

                                • I think she's rather a "Kuon" reference. A 2004 PS2 survival - horror game from Fromsoft. Rebirth and grubs play a big role there. Also if you rebirth too often you will end up as a slimy mush. From that perspective Rosaria has similarities to Utsuki. One of the playable characters, a shrine maiden, and the "cover girl" of the game.

Unpopular opinion: I wish that if you wanted to change your gender or name, it will cost you all of your rebirths or 3 pale tongues

Not really sure about yuria questline but i tried testing to see if reallocating would fail sirris's questline but it didnt it seems just offering the pale tongues or equiping the covenant sign will fail her questline

                                      • Anonymous

I am on NG+, so I already had her covenant. Can I offer a pale tounge without it ruining Yurias questline? I mean the questline, where you get an ending.

So what is the story here?
She was locked up her bedroom to get ...you know, liked a lot by Pontiff, to create loads of abominations as her children (hence the beds) that she loves and protects? (Hence them protecting the entrance to her room)

Question does changing your appearance or reallocating points count toward the covenant (getting the ring), or are these separate transactions?

Anime made catgirls, fromsoft made maggotgirls. Japan never fails to amaze the world. When are we getting girlgirls, girls with some characteristics from girls?

Adding this in the comments as I assume it’s bad juju to put it in the guide proper, there’s a bug with Rosaria’s Stat reallocation that essentially allows you to respec unlimitedly. To explain it in a way that makes sense to me, when you respec the game autosaves, so WITH THE MENU STILL OPEN, instead of clicking “Leave” close your application. Since it autosaved after you respec’d but you didn’t select “Quit Game” in the pause menu, you’ll reload the game from the last save and have the stats you respec’d for without expending any of your limited Rebirth’s.

if rebirthing more than 5 times turns you into an grub-man, then these "rebirthings" might be just extremely-risky plastic surgery (including on the brain if you count intelligence-stats-changing upon rebirthing). think about it

                                                  • Anonymous

her bonfire is not only a place with the most useful npc that does not show up at firelink shrine (rosaria itself), but also, the big fat slugs around the place are a perfect early game soul-farming material, just slash them all with a straight sword, it takes a lot less time than farming at farron keep perimeter, you can get up to 1500 souls every 1 minute and a half if you are fast enough or 2 minutes at its slowest, while farming at farron keep perimeter takes 5+ minutes to farm like 2000 souls if you are super fast.... conclusion: rosaria's chamber is lowkey the 2nd best bonfire at the game, being only worse than firelink shrine's bonfire

                                                    • Anonymous

Ahh yes.. Blessed Rosaria hollowed be thy name, for thee is the only one capable of understanding whats really important ----> Making a twink build and invading them noobs.

Welp I got a surprise... if you only talk to Rosaria it make Sirris ostile so if you want to follow Sirris's sidequest DONT even TALK with Rosaria

Is it possible that the door leading to her are broken because of Aldrich? Think about it: In the opening cutscene we see that Aldrich spills out of his coffin yet in his boss room he looks more like a snail/solid creature therefore, he may have tried to enter her room but since the doors were closed he used force breaking them in the process, then he came to Rosaria and got reborn, probably content with result of the ritual he left Rosaria alive and moved on to *SPOILER* Anor Londo */SPOILER*

I’m surprised no one has realized she’s a reference to Saint Mary 1. Mother Of Rebirth 2. Name is a form of the word Rosary referring to a Catholic bead collection and prayer to Mary 3. Lives in Cathedral 4. She is in a position similar to Michaelangelo’s Pieta

                                                                • Anonymous

And I did not kill her she just seemed to be dead but yeah I got the black eye orb. In case your wondering I have beated all bosses except slace knight Gael of the dlc, champions gravetender, and everyone in the archives onward. I did the anri avowal ceremony. And she just seemed to be dead in her bed and dropped the black eye orb.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                      • Gotta love the attempts to tie Rosaria, Leonhards nonsense of a Quest and Gywnevere together. I point out that both her Cov rings in DkS1 and 3 show her to be alive, raising a family and gone from this World. I could give it a pass if they didn't know her image was fake but her Ring drops after killing Leonhard in 3. Ffs!

                                                                        • Anonymous

This creates a save and will use up a pale tongue and one of your 5 rebirths.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Is it impossible to earn more than one Obscuring Ring per character? I mean, legitimately--not through trade with other players. Thanks!

                                                                              • Anonymous

Dumb theory ahead: what if Rosaria is the former Queen of Lothric?

                                                                                1. The Queen was considered to be like the goddess of fertility, Gwynevere; Rosaria is a goddess of rebirth, and her soul unlocks a miracle of Gwynevere
                                                                                2. The Queen's "holy maiden," Gertrude, was a conduit for Angels; if one examines closely, the Man-Grubs appear quite similar to the larval beings "commanding" the Angels in the Dreg Heap (are Man-Grubs pupating Angels? or are they merely Apostles?)
                                                                                3. Angelic Faith seems to play a crucial role in Lothric and its surrounding geography, and it's possible that Sulyvahn, Aldrich, and the Deacons of the Deep have some fascination with the beings, judging by certain statues and design details and similarities to the "Pilgrim Butterflies," also seemingly connected to the Angels
