Notes

  • This sorcery has multiple damage frames. This means to get full damage out of it, your target needs to stand in the beam for the full duration and enemies can dodge some of the damage if hit while moving.
    • Players will typically got knocked down in only a couple of hits, stopping the beam from doing even as much damage as a Heavy Soul Arrow.
  • Each tick of damage from Soul Stream inflicts (Spell Buff x 0.80) magic damage before resistances.
  • This sorcery has one of the longest wind-ups in the game and one of the fastest moving projectiles.
  • This sorcery does not track enemies at all and can be dodged easily if prepared.
  • It seems that this sorcery can go through walls, useful for hitting players trying to find cover [tested in the pillars of Archdragon peak].

HOLY S*** I JUST REALISED WHO IT IS OMG THANK YOU FROMSOFT

I happy that, even if only very vaguely, Aldia was mentioned (more alluded to in this case) in DS3. He's such an interesting character and has the absolute best monolog in the series, that it'd be a sin to not at least give a small nod to him.

        Thank you fromsoft.

Now I'm gonna blow your mind with this little data...

This spell was the ds1 red drake's fire breath, but switched to sorcery and player-sized. Still haunting some bridges.

Believe it or not, this spell absolutely clowns on Sister Friede. I was doing a sorcerer run and getting my ass handed to me pretty hard by her, then realized I forgot to grab Soul Stream, so I went and got it, put it on, and wow, she just does not like this spell at all. It's almost a guaranteed knockdown even in the third phase, and in the second one you can hit both her and Father Ariandel if you line it up properly for 1300+ damage. (60 Int, +10 Court Sorcerer Staff, Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring & Young Dragon Ring, Dusk Crown. I wasn't even fully committing to damage; I could have used Magic Clutch Ring, Scholar's Candlestick, and Steady Chant if I wanted even more.) And since the windup is so long, you can use it almost immediately again while she's getting up, especially if you have the Sage Ring. Just make sure you have plenty of FP and Ashen Estus Flasks, cuz this spell does not respect your FP at all. It's possible that I just got lucky and she didn't dodge much, but still, if this thing connects it's a ticket to the pavement.

            • I was going through ringed city as a sunbro summon. Per usual someone invades and tries running to the harald knights for cover. What they didn't count was being atacked from 50 feet away by a soul stream, knocking them down and then immediately recast killing them.

Tldr if your doing coop the cobination of damage, knockdown, and range ntm multi target can be very useful as long as someone else is distracting

while it is undeniably useless in duels, and very very niche in invasions, this and a lot of other slow casting but high damage spells work wonders in brawls

It's not as bad as most people exaggerate it to be. It's pretty nice in PvE since enemies hardly dodge you there. While in pvp, it's obviously bad if you use it in close ranges in front of your enemies but it's supposed to be used from long ranges with obscuring ring where your opponent can't see you. Aim this through binoculars and it's a pretty nice gank spanker

                  • Anonymous

If you land this in pvp and have enough fp and stamina to recast it immediately you can stunlock your opponent to death. i have killed 3 or 4 people this way... out of a hundred trys tough... but it is a lot of fun

Because this spell hits a target multiple times, can the affects of Pontiff Right Eye ring and Carthus Beacon be applied for higher damage in a single cast?

                      • Anonymous

Against bosses, you can poise cast Lightning Stake and then immediately cast this with Crystal Chime (it has FTH scaling too!) to be unstaggerable. ONE HANDED KAMEHAMEHA

                        -eyevann

Can the bow glitch insta cast this? I won't spam in general pvp I was just wondering if I could troll my friend

The corpse where you find it in the Grand Archives has a really creepy sound clip surrounding the glowing orb. The sound ends when the item is picked up.

Pretty situational but has its uses in pve, I see it as a sniper rifle (use binoculars' zoom of course) as it seems to have the best range of sorceries. Worked wonders for example in the final area with loads of manserpents of Archdragon Peak, the staircase before the Twin Princes and I could also start the Gravetender fight by killing one wolf from afar. Can't wait for the Deacons in NG+!

Can’t remember if I got caught swinging an ultra or tried to parry a host but I locked myself into an animation recovery once just as a phantom winded this up and I took all damage ticks and flew back into a wall behind me me like a rag doll struck by a missile. I won’t lie it was badass

                                • Anonymous

Like all sorceries that are hard to hit with, fire it through crystal hail! Some players refuse to fight sorcerers until you've exhausted your fp (highly unsporting imo) and it's most likely hopeless in that case, but if you notice they're distracted dodging the soul masses, you just might catch them if you're casting speed is maxed. I've also used it to punish buffing mid fight. Damage is superior to everything else if all the frames hit, combining that with wakeup shots from the knockdown and you pretty much can wreck any build's health around SL 120. Takes luck, skill, and patience.

One handed zweihander s knockback might get you some time to shoot this spell. Some enemies don t have time to get out of the way

Now it says this goes through walls. Does that mean like whips and Soul Great sword, or we talking like terrain does not exist to this spell?

                                      • Anonymous

Useful in PVE, consisits of 2 parts. Ticks and a Radial knockdown as of 1/21/19. I enjoy using this against Heavy, Shielded enemies. The beams damage is wonky when aiming through/over objects. Even though obstructed the Radial knockdown often still hits. Dunno if theres a check involving if the Ad will resist knockdown or not yet.

sadly the most damage you can do with this without going full on hyper-dragon, is 4k. hyper dragon is barely above that. but since you can only hit a player with 3 MAYBE 4 ticks you end up only doing 900 or so damage. Sorceries suck in pvp and are only decent in pve, thanks fromsoft.

With the Sorcerer class, the Scholar Ring, and 55 INT, an SL45 glass cannon build is 100% feasible. Maybe drop 2 points into attunement for great farron dart or something.

Does Soul Stream still hit through some walls/objects? Was trying to snipe enemies through some objects in the grand archives to no avail.

Encountered a Goku cosplay using this. He kept on using stronger and bigger sorceries as we went along, then this was his final Kamehameha. It was so great.

It is very good when you crystal soul spear to knock them down and then cast soul stream if you surprise them it can destroy them

                                                  • Not very useful at all, even when trying to cast it on a mob enemy. Soul Stream will deal piss poor damage on enemy players despite it being a spell that takes up two Attunement slots. You're better off firing boosted spells from the other categories or other spells in the magic section. When firing this at point blank even against enemy players and not friendly enemy players, you will mostly miss the target or you will knock the player to the ground, which is fun, but deals NO Damage. Even if you managed to land this on someone either as a "snipe" or point blank the damage is still bad. I only managed 480 from long range and 680 from what either looked like point blank or partial point blank, most likely there is such a thing as partial point blank damage but if I in fact dealt point blank then this spell isn't worth the two slots and the 55FP, just like Crystal Soul Spear isn't worth 43FP when it can be rolled out of the way, or warped with Twisted Light. This spell will let you spin around for about 2.5 or 1.8 seconds... this is what I feel the channeling time is... Anyways, you can spin around and then hopefully you hit your opponent, like some 360 Snipe Soul Stream gag trick for a spell. I think the only time this spell seems to shine is when free aiming and you run away from the opponent and then cast Soul Stream while they are behind you?... I have done this but missed.... Also this spell is best when used with Obscuring Ring or Hidden Body.

I want to like it but I’m have a very hard time. It takes up 2 slots, costs a lot of FB, has a seriously long cast time and really doesn’t deal satisfying damage output. That being said however, it’s still a fun sorcery all around...from a stealthy perspective.

                                                      • Anonymous

If only Divine Pillars of Light was like this: Pretty to look at, fun to use and not half bad if you use it right!

                                                        • Anonymous

This spell is outstanding for slow bosses. Most notably the Demon bosses of the Ringed City DLC.

However I recommend at least one summon to draw at least one of them away. As long as you align the shot with both of them you will deal equal damage to them for the cost of a single casting. This helps mitigate Ashen Estus usage.

                                                          • Impractical but hilarious. Probably my favorite spell. Would prefer FromSoft give us sustained spells, though. Like, hold down the button, get a continuous tracking stream on an enemy.

                                                            • Anonymous

This spell is excellent in the newest DLC against the Ringed Knights, especially those wielding shields. Cast a soul arrow/spear at one to do some damage and get their attention, then ready up your photon cannon and watch as they get knocked flat on their ass, if not completely eviscerated. Loads of fun and looks damned awesome to boot.

                                                              • Anonymous

This sorcery can indeed go through walls, as said on this page - however, no damage is done if penetrated through a wall. Tested in PvE - the spell clearly goes through, and if it connects to the enemy, it will even cause knockdown, but it won't deal any damage.

                                                                • Anonymous

Seeing this spell, I imagined it was one you could hold the button down and cast it for as long or as little as needed, like fire surge... very cool regardless!

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous
