Soul of the Lords is a Boss Soul in Dark Souls 3.

Soul of the Lords

Soul of the Lords.
One of the twisted souls, steeped in strength.

Use to acquire numerous souls, or transpose to extract its true strength.

Since Lord Gwyn, the first Lord of Cinder, many exalted lords have linked the First Flame, and it is their very souls that have manifested themselves as defender of the flame.

This is one of those plotholes/****ups in the DS games. Why would someone like Gwyn, or the Soul of Cinder, people who have fought and sacrificed themselves to keep the flame on, fight you and protect the flame from you - the person who wants to do like them and extend the flame for example if that's your intention?

Yes it could be your intention is not that - but it's stupid to just attack the person you have the most chance of doing the job you want without knowing their intentions first.

imagine if this soul allow you to extract a variety of weapons for you to choose from such as firelink gs, firelink sword, firelink staff, curved sword,.... not just a gs. That would be so cool.

This doesn’t include the bearer of the curse from dark souls 2 right? Isn’t dark souls 3 before 2 and after one??

So if this soul contains soul of Gwyn and every other lord after him, why is there 4 more lords of cinder in the game we have to collect souls from, shouldn't their souls alredy be within this one?

It's a what-if question. Whether you linked the flame in DS2 or not, the existence of this soul assumes that you did because it will eventually and has already happened. We go through so many NG cycles, not to mention that worlds, dimensions and time are diluted constructs in Soulsborne, proven by summoning phantoms/cooperators, invasion, the repair miracle and the settings of the DLCs. So eventually even in far off decades, you'd go back to play DS1 & 2 and choose the endings you didn't take, and the game's continuity is retroactively fixed in the future.

It's a shame I didn't get to enjoy this fight as I killed him on my first ever blind play through. He seems like a great boss but I was too strong for him I guess. :/

I think it would contain the soul of the chosen undead from dark souls to because they (usually) linked the flame in the throne of want. So technically if you played dark souls 2 and linked the fire, you would be fighting an aspect of yourself. Thoughts?

so if this contains the souls of everyone who linked the fire than that means "The chosen undead" from DS1 and "Bearer of the Curse" from DS2 are in there right? (if they linked the fire of course)

Since the Soul Of Cinder is a manifestation of all the ones that linked the fire, the soul should be worth a ton right? Gwyn's soul was worth 75000 souls after all. +25000 when used... Bull *****ing *****. Should be worth A LOT MORE

After the battle, I immediately warped back to the firelink shrine to transpose this weapon. After the transposition the soul was gone, but I could not find the sword either. This killed NG+ for me (at least for now).

so by their definition, linking the flame is the canonical correct ending so why even bother to put the dark lord ending on DS1 and DS2 if they're not even considered cannon?
