Twin Princes' Greatsword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Sword forged from the reunion of the inseparable swords born from the souls of Lothric and Lorian, the twin princes.

Their union is rooted in a curse, and perpetuated by grief.

Skill: Sacred Light and Flame
While in stance, use normal attack to cast Sacred Lothric Light, and strong attack to cast Flame of Lorian.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Buffed or Infused.
  • Reinforced with Titanite Scale.
  • The Twin Princes' Greatsword has a range of 34.1973xl on the 1h R1 and 37.0217xl on the 2h R1.
  • At 40 Str 40 Dex 9 Int 9 Faith this weapon has an AR of 540.
  • At 40 Str 14 Dex (minimum) and either 40 Int 9 Faith or 9 Int 40 Faith this weapon has an AR of 521.
  • At 22 Str (minimum) 40 Dex and either 40 Int 9 Faith or 9 Int 40 Faith this weapon has an AR of 537.
  • At 22 Str and 14 Dex with 40 Int and 40 Faith this weapon has an AR of 518.
  • At 40 Str, 40 Dex, 40 Int and 40 Faith this weapon has an AR of 612. This weapon scales poorly with marginal increases in any of the four stats past the 40 softcap.
    • The above stat investments are at +5 refinement using the Knight class. Without heavy investment in all four damage stats this weapon falls short in damage relative to other greatswords; even so, it has a decent AR regardless of how you invest points since it scales well with all stats up to the 40 softcap. In combination with its unique and powerful weapon arts, it remains an effective weapon for any build.

Location/Where to Find

  • Requires Lothric's Holy Sword and Lorian's Greatsword, both can be obtained from Ludleth of Courland via Soul Transposition.
  • Barring item trades with other players Lothric must be defeated twice (NG and NG+) in order to obtain this weapon.
  • Ludleth will only offer to merge the two swords if both are in the player's main inventory when speaking to him. This can be done even if Ludleth has been slain.

I saw this on a video and wanted to grab it as soon as I got into NG+ so right out of the gate I killed Dancer before Vordt, sped through Lothric Castle, took out the Dragonslayer Armour, and... the Grand Archives are locked until I beat the other Lords of Cinder. Boooooo. It makes you wonder why they even allowed you to fight Dancer and do Lothric Castle early if they were just going to gate you off anyways

This thing is not keyboard and mouse friendly; Lorian sword art is hold shift + mouse 2 then mouse 1, but Lothric Sword art is hold ctrl then mouse 1. Now I understand why is there two different inputs to use weapon arts in this game. This game was definetly not designed with mouse and keyboard in mind.

with some testing on the firekeeper (for science) the holy light part of the weapon art deals physical damage or atleast scales with the weapons phys AR even though it gives the magic damage visual for whatever reason

Um. ….. I have 500 hours into this game across 3 character builds and a platinum trophy. Why am I just finding out about this sword 6 years too late? This thing is amazing when you factory in the versatility of the WAs. Holy Momma.

So I've tried searching around, but I haven't found anything about the glow effect on the base of the blade. In some areas its really dull and other areas it glows brightly, I'm trying to find a reason for it.

This thing earned the nickname "Cheater sword" among my friend group because of how it used to hit through walls. Funny as hell to use.

Best build to run this on a SL 125 imo is a 40/40 STR/FTH build w/ the White Hair Talisman. Used for stacking Sacred Oath with Power Within and being able to run Bountiful Light to offset the hp loss. Looking at 700 AR and with both of its useful-as-hell WA and the right rings this thing turns you into a PvP badass

Did anyone notice it leaves flames on the ground when you destroy object with it (any attack, not just WA)? Pretty unique.

this is my excalibur, the amount of lives this sword and I have taken in invasions, darkmoons, arena you name it is unfathomable, it's not the best gs damage wise but it's weapon arts (yes both!) make it godly in the right hands

                      • Anonymous

I'm reading that you can't trade the weapon but this is not true, so I'll explain exactly what happened to me and my friend to see if it was a location specific thing.
We finished everything, just left the lord of cinder and the ringed city dlc, we decided to go to the first boonfire in the ringed city in order for me to give the prince's soul to him, right outside the boonfire area in the ash. He could not see the soul I dropped, so I got it again and transmuted it to a weapon.
Then he couldn't see the weapon as well, and started walking near me and mashing the grab button, then HE WAS ABLE TO GRAB THE INVISIBLE NON TRANSFERABLE ITEM.
I was also able to give the Vordt mace to him and get it back.

So I don't know if it was a thing of world state, location or mashing. but yes, you CAN TRADE but the item will be invisible to the receiving player.

This weapon is actually amazing. WA + R1 is super fast, and great for use when someone is close to you. They'll likely get hit, panic roll and you can easily roll catch with this thing. WA + R2 is less good, but pretty decent too. Damage is good on a 40/40/9/20 build too, it surpasse Splitleaf GS and is barely surpassed by Farron GS, although it's likely a bigger gap since this weapon has fire damage. Another thing is, no one every sees this weapon, so they won't except anything it does.

why is everyone whining about NG+. game is short as it is, its not that hard to speed run back up to the twins.

The hit box on the laser is ridiculous, fought a guy in undead match using this and he’d always finish me off using the laser even though I was way far away from the actual thing

Limited testing but it seems like the hyper armor on the fire attack is almost, if not, instant. Pretty crazy trading potential

I like how you fuse the Beeeg Sword and the Smol Sword to get the Middle Sword.

No, honestly this is a neat weapon and I really like the idea how to get it.

So Lorian is the twin and lothric the princess? I know the lore is deep, but what purpose has the zodiac sign?

if your good enough to get to ng+ without leveling up your level or weapon, this is a sick twink weapon. i dont twink, i actually do the opposite. i kill low level twink invaders. putting that aside, i met someone using this, and they almost killed me. he kept spamming the weapon art, which looks cool as heck, but after a while, he got hella predictable, and i killed him. dont twink guys. mild trolling is fine but dont do anything that will make someone delete the game. :)

Quick question here : what kind of damage is done with it ? Only physical ? Split phys/fire ? Or phys/magic/fire ?

                                        • Anonymous

What I've noticed about this weapon: It does not bounce off of wall hits. Goes through any wall like butter.

When you use embers you'll notice the visual effect on this specific sword along with your armor or clothes, to my awareness this is the only weapon that shows this.

To get this in the first playthrough, once you have the boss soul can you just backup your save, make the first sword and transfer it to a friend. Then load the backup, make the second sword and have the friend transfer the first sword back?

After playing ds3 for 4 years and hundreds of hours, I discovered this sword today. Haven't seen that option to merge the brothers' swords at Ludleth until now! I guess I never had both of their swords in my inventory on any of my ng+ and above characters. Apparently you can still discover new things in this game! :)

Am I the only one who thinks that both the weapon and the method of obtaining it are a reference to the Northern Regalia sword from Demon's Souls?

                                                  • Anonymous

Is it possible to get in regular Newgame? Couldn't you just get one of the swords, make another character, get the other, and have a friend help you transfer the second sword to the character with the first?

                                                    • Anonymous

I love this weapon so much, but it suffers from the same problem as the dancers twinbladed of it's damage being spilt into too many categories

                                                      • Anonymous

why every slightly effeminate man = ah-hah it must be a Griffith reference (despite literally nothing else connecting them)

                                                        • Anonymous

Is this sword a downgrade from the lorian's greatsword? Lorian's great sword seems to have a better move set IMO and can be buffed with the WA, which seems to all be more useful than the projectile WA.

                                                          • Anonymous

This is easily one of the better greatswords, despite having mildly poor AR (split damage weakens its output), because of the usual GS pros (HA on R1s + reasonably fast R1s = ability to trade with fast weapons; great at chaining roll catches) and, more importantly, it's ability to pressure an opponent with the WA R1: it's stupid fast, has dual hit boxes (thrust + beam), has crazy good range, and roll catches after R1s so well. Keep in mind, it's pretty taxing FP-wise and the beam is all physical damage, so 100% shields shut it down (and this weapon's nemesis happens to be one of the most popular medium shields in the game as it counters both it's physical and fire damage.) As a side note (HINT HINT), this weapon gets better FAITH scaling (+2 per point) than INT so I usually go 26 STR 40 DEX 30 FAITH, and then have a Lightning-infused Corvian Greatknife or Mail Breaker (as they both get really good scaling on that infusion) as a side arm to get around those pesky shields. The WA R2 is shockingly good for not just tanking ultra GS swings, but for quickly resetting your poise IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRADE. All this leads me to believe this is a true skill weapon, and you can do some scary good work with it.

                                                            • Anonymous

One of my favourite weapon in PVP. Needs practice, but a decent one. Split damage is underrated, it's useful against shield users/low fire resist enemies. The laser is pretty effective against casters or chasing down someone, especially estus chuggers. And the flame WA grants you so much hyper armor, you can just tank almost everything with it, best for trades. The is flame also good for roll catching and if you trick your enemy rolling into your WA the guaranteed following R1 can be lethal. And the most important thing is that the weapon arts looks freakin' badass!

                                                              • Anonymous

A crutch? You're being ridiculous. The WA is entirely manageable of you know what to look for. This is honestly one of the weapons that does well depending on skill. The beam is easy to dodge if you're paying attention, the swing is the same. Both are easily parried as well. They're just good options. Obviously a bad matchup like an UGS will suffer BECAUSE of said bad matchup. The WA swing can tank ultras and trade well.

                                                                • Anonymous

A crutch weapon in PVP- the weapon art projected stab makes the weapon. This should have never been approved.

                                                                  • I'm so dumb. I just transposed the soul for a second lothric's sword instead of Lorian's sword and was wondering why I wasn't being offered the option to make this sword, until I rechecked my inventory to see two of prince lothric's swords!

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

think about a playet who can not hit any r1 r2 running r2 etc. NOTHING. And who cannot roll from any attack and always get hit. But the think is, that player has twin princess great sword. So this is the fight: Laser beam x3 and then a fire WA, RUN AWAY cough ashen estus and repeat the process. Soon anyone will die to this you know? There are players out there putting 40 to their attunement just to spam the laser beam WA. Cheap A.F

                                                                              • The am is an excellent finisher, and the flame is an incredible roll catcher. If you get hit by the sword and the flame you get a good 630 damage out of it, as well as good hyperarmor. It's one of my favorite gank spanking weapons with the wide 1 handed lights or 2 handed heavies. If there is a choke point and multiple people in a row, you can hit several with the WA. It's fast enough to swing between hits with a dragonslayer greataxe, but the WA works just fine. Overall, a great weapon.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Unlike, the dancer blades. this thing gets a pass for having 4 D scalings, since you actually have a functioning moveset and an awesome wa (that smexy beam is an excellent finisher). Also it's ar is good and no where near as split as those awful rave blades.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

"only good for pvp"? Did you distribute your stats well? This is good in almost any scenario. The weapon artes/skills make this a great choice for both PvE AND PvP. Fire damage is pretty effective most of this game as well, so the split damage really isn't a problem. The WA R2 allows you to tank all but the untankable, the WA R1 is good for finishing enemies/hitting multiple enemies, standard/fire are pretty decent damage types, the greatsword moveset is always viable, etc... Really not sure what you mean, tbh. Has less hyperarmor than other greatswords, but doesn't have bad hyperarmor by any standards. With like 40 to 45 poise you can poise through everything with a 2h r1 but an UGS/GH/CGS 2h r1, just use the WA R2 to trade with "great" weapons. Never had issues with poise, personally.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

I have an upgraded Lothric Sword and an un-upgraded Lorian's sword. If i get another Lothric sword to combine it with the Lorian sword, can i choose which Lothric Sword I want to use to transpose it? I dont want to waste an upgraded straight sword. Or should i just keep the upgraded one on hand and the weaker one in the inventory prior to transposing?

                                                                                      • Anonymous

My favorite weapon, though i feel bad using it sometimes, it can be OP if you actually have some skill... It's truly one of those "skill weapons", if you're bad and just spamming r1 and the WAs then it'll only be as good as any other greatsword in the hands of an unskilled player. When you play with skill you realize that the beam is great for chip damage and long range interruption, the thrust during the beam can actually be used as a thrust and not just for the beam, the WA r2 is where this gets close to being OP as the hyperarmor is instant and the damage will always win in a trade as long as its 1 hit. I used to just use the WA r1 for the beam till i realized that it actually shines just as much as a thrust attack as the WA r2 in trades. You get almost as much damage if you land that WA r1 point blank, which imo isn't hard if you just actually use it like a normal attack, as a WA r2 in a trade. This has great burst damage and honestly i consider it top tier in skilled hands. Not sure what people are talking about when they say damage isn't good, it definitely is.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

At 30 in all four scailing stats you get an AR of 552. This point distribution may limit the amout of weapons you can use effectively but it is an option.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

The L2+R1 weapon art can be parried, but the beam still strikes. However it is a small stagger rather than a large one

                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                              I have a SL185 build, with 45/45 DEX/STR and 35/35 FTH/INT and trying out PVP in arena.
This weapon is just the best for my build. The laser beam allows for some long-distance damage against a very defensive opponent, and at close range the weapon art with the flame does impressive damage. Most players spamming UGS with musclebrain builds doesn't seems to know how good this weapon is, usually after two lasers they try closing the distance and are rewarded by the other WA.
Also the laser count as double damage if you also hit your opponent with the sword.

Works nicely in invasion too, but I'd rather use more spammable weapons or simply big UGS and ambushing for those.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

A very versatile weapon, having both Lothric and Lorian's weapon arts. Works pretty well with 40 STR and 40 DEX, giving 540 AR, roughly on par with other greatswords.
If you can free-aim, the weapon arts are godly at roll catching, especially the Lothric beam.
You can try throwing two R1s and then whipping out a quick weapon art, because most people after seeing two R1s assume your going to go for more.
The Lothric beam also counts for two hits instead of just one, so it can be used to finish off ToD.
Overall: superb greatsword, 10/10 would spam weapon arts again.
