Vigor

Type Attribute
Effect " Attribute governing: HP
Also governs resistance to Frost"

Vigor is a stat in Dark Souls 3 that determines the amount of health or hitpoints that your character has. It is an important attribute to level up (specially for PvP).

Effects of Vigor

  • Vigor increases the amount of HP per point allocated.  The relationship between HP and vigor seems more complex than other stats as it gradually increases from a gain of 24 HP at 11 Vigor to a maximum gain of 44 HP at 17 Vigor. After 17 Vigor the amount of HP gained per point sharply decreases from 44 HP to a value of 19 HP at 28 Vigor.  After 28 Vigor, the rate of decrease in HP gained per Vigor becomes less dramatic until 50 Vigor, where the gain in HP is a mere 3 HP.  After 50 Vigor the gain in HP per point of vigor has a linear relationship, netting 1-3 HP per vigor.
  •  1 - 27 gives you +19-44 HP
    28 - 49 gives you +3-19 HP
    50 - 99 gives you +1-3 HP
  • Defenses do not scale with Vigor directly, but rather with overall Soul Level; defense gains are not affected by starting class.
  • You receive only 100 extra HP between 51-99 Vigor, so it is very unwise to level Vigor past 50.

Wait, does Vigor also help you convert Word documents, Excel, Google docs, PDF files and any other visual document to HTML?

          From lv.10 to lv.50, 900 hp increase
          From lv.50 to lv.99 100 hp increase
So it's pointless to level vigor above 50,

          • Anonymous

Not just only PvP its also very good to focus on Vigor instead str and dex early on to survive most of the enemies one hit k.o. attacks.
Like for real i am new to dark souls 3 and i have never played this game before but for real one thing that i have learned in especially dark souls 2 and 3 is the higher your HP the better your survivability!!

When I played ds3 for the first time I went thru with the Greatsword weapon(technically it's labelled as an ultra greatsword) and I barely leveled vigor at all. I mostly leveled strength and made my weapon the heavy infusion. It was surprisingly effective, the armor I used all the way through was just the full commutator set

27 vigor for casters and pyros, 39 for everything else. If you want more that's what RoFAP and Prisoners Chain are for

                • While getting the curved wolf sword at SL 22 +3 (Yes, I had to join the stupid wolf covenant), I kept coming across guys who put all their levels into Strength, Dex, and Spellcasting stats so they can use all the fancy weapons and spells and they dealt a measly fraction of my health while I took out more than half of theirs with a couple of smacks from a raw caestus and a charcoal resin. If there's two things I've learned from this experience, it's that you should never skimp on Vigor in early levels and that Perseverance is OP.

For those of us who are visual learners, I put the above data into a chart.

i am worried about something, i leveled up my vigor to probably 17 and my health bar expanded(which were good news) but after i died maybe 2 times the health bar shrink pretty small , like when you start a new game, so. anyone knows what should i do to expand it again? and if so, how? and does this mean i wasted my souls leveling up the vigor?
i would be so thankful if you could help me

Yeah how about you write the description of this article Not like a fucking maniac. It's supposed to be informative, and not in russian. It says three times in total.

                        • Anonymous

Anyone who is competent in English knows that vitality and vigor should be switched. Vitality refers to a being's hardiness and will to live, while vigor refers to strength and intensity, hence the adjective "vigorous". Therefore it makes sense to name a health stat "Vitality" and an equip burden stat "Vigor".

Gives 0 2 frost resist per 1 pts of vigor between 11 and 29

Gives 4 frost resist pts per 1 pt of vigor between 30 and 40 vigor.

Gives 1.5 frost resist betweem 41 and 60.

Gives 1 frost resist per 1 pt of vigor between 60 and 75.
Gives 0.5pt of frost resist per pt of vigor between 75 and 99.

I was in an undead match, had 40 vigor, got 1shot parried at full hp. Vigor is 100% useless, a Ugs can take half my hp in 1 hit and I wear pretty good armor.

                              • Anonymous

From 50 to 99, vigor adds 100 hp (1300hp to 1400hp) and from 39 to 50 vigor also adds 100 hp (1200 to 1300) and finally from 33 to 39 adds 100 hp (1109 to 1200) optimal hp for most classes is around 39 vigor

Tanks should go for around 50 vigor though 33-39 range seems an optimal range for all classes.

The table should account for the fact the sorcerer class starts with a Vigor rating of 9. Also, the word "Level" at the top of the first column should be changed to "Vigor" or "Vigor level" for clarity.

When playing the game in Spanish Vigor and Vitality have their names switched for some reason.
I was very confused while reading this :v

                                    • Anonymous

I don't understand that I now have two characters on two play throughs one has 25 vigor and the other has 45 vigor yet the vigor build has 1231 HP and while I can't remember the exact number the 45 one has I think either 1213 or 1217 or possibly 1277, either way about the same. Do other stats like strength and vitality affect this because of defensive stats and damage absorption because the level 25 vigor is a pyromancer with level 9 vitality while the other is a night with level 39 vitality and 58 strength.

                                      • Anonymous

Even if people tell you "27 is enough" go for 40 if possible. Because even if "27 seems to be enough"...most youtubers have 40. For a good reason one might think. Maybe to survive the parry - hornet ring combo? ;)

                                        • Anonymous

This is more confusing than the metric system. So if I keep leveling up Vigor I'll be more resistant to attacks right?

                                          • Anonymous

So, how much Vigor would be worth putting into for a SL125 PvP build? Just curious because I believe the Embered form gives you something like 40% more health.
