Frostbite Notes

  • Frost is very effective against most knights or enemies that still have flesh.
  • Particularly effective against some bosses, most notably the Dragonslayer Armour and Oceiros, the Consumed King.
  • If Frostbite injures an enemy (but is not fatal), a sound of breaking ice can be heard. However, if Frostbite is fatal, there is no sound effect.
  • If fire damage is applied to the target it will remove the Frostbitten effect, allowing for more frostbite damage to be applied.
  • Holding a torch speeds up frostbite recovery.
  • Overhauled in 1.11 patch.

Somebody once mentioned about buffing a innate bleed weapon with this, and how cool it may be if they both pec at the same time. Maybe on hollow infused Bandit's Knife or Barbed Straight Sword?
Shame you can't buff shields with weapon buffs. It would've been fun to buff the Bonewheel Shield.

I was playing around with a build around +5 Friede's Great Scythe, and Snap Freeze, 40DEX/40INT. I crushed Dragonslayer Armour in less than 60 seconds literally! Mind you I have always had a bit difficulty with him over the years so for me this was amazing. So when it comes to PVE Frost is defiantly viable!!!

build idea for scary damage burst for PvP , take a bandit knife and use frozen blade on it , bleed + frostbite build up at almost same speed , most players get bleed when under 50% hp and for frost around that too...combine both and you got a big burst of damage , and remember , build ups gets applied even when dodged

equipment tip : have a spare bleed gem weapon in case bleeding the target is slower than frostbite since the dagger will inflict 30 bleed + 45 frostbite which would be pretty effective in low level invasions ( under SL 35 )

So I understand, the info says that if you hit someone for frostbite to the point they are bitten, you can then hit them with a fire/chaos weapon, the frostbite resets and then you can quickly build it up again and repeat for max damage? Do I have my facts straight? Because this seems like it would be very useful against Gael on my NG+7. I usually poison and toxic him at the same time, then work on hitting him with frostbite, but if this works, every time I hear the glass breaking sound, I will hit him with a chaos dagger and start again. If anyone has any facts that they can pass along, I would be grateful. Thanks guys.

Frostbite and poison are not Worth any investment at all,I would highly recommend using what ever secondary weakness enemies have as frost and poison compared to other forms of elemental damage are outclassed by the weapons other buffs are on and you cannot infuse nor buff with frost making it terrible. Maybe some specific frost spells are usuable? But again Frost and poison are simply inferior to literally everything else. Best to think Frost specifically doesn't even exist in the game I believe.

I keep getting those weird fake hits that don't land during a roll, but makes a sound, adding frostbite stack, but do zero damage when it does prop I don't understand what's going on, anyone have this happening or explain?

Frostbite is everywhere at lower levels with Vordt's hammer and Irithyll straight sword. Some co-op team comes at you with Fallen Knight sets and enough spam to feed a family, you can get slapped with it fairly easily after rolling through an Irithyll/Vordt R1 whiff-blender that builds it up almost immediately. Easy to avoid if you're watching for it, but that first time it gets you is a real facepalm moment.
