fire keeper gesturesGestures are a game mechanic that allows players to express emotion or direction. There are a total of thirty-three gestures in Dark Souls 3. Collection of all gestures rewards the player with the Master of Expression trophy.

Most gestures performed towards the Fire Keeper will result in different reactions from her, such as 'Dignified bow' responding with a bow, 'Legion Etiquette' with a look of consternation, 'Stretch out' with a small laugh, or 'Path of the Dragon' with a twirl. The only gestures not reacted to are the 3 different point gestures (requires confirmation).

 Trivia

  • The 'Quiet Resolve' gesture was originally from the first Dark Souls trailer, where the character who uses the gesture in the trailer is wearing the Elite Knight Set. The same set is worn by Anri of Astora, who teaches you this gesture.
  • There are several gestures that are performed by NPCs that can not be obtained by the player, most notably the majority of sitting and standing idle poses, the gestures the Fire Keeper does in response to gestures done towards her, and the standing 'Toast' gesture performed by Lapp.

I'll forever be annoyed that using the legion etiquette gesture while two handing the farron greatsword doesnt allow you to to the gesture with the dagger in the left hand

      • Anonymous

Game is great, but needing to summon NPCS for certain items/gestures is very annoying. Cuculus for Cornyx’s things, Heysel for proper bow, stuff like that.

        • Anonymous

Future recommendation, for Proper Bow maybe you should tell us to be invaded by Heysel first before turning in a pale tongue because that prevents you from being invaded which therefore prevents you from being able to get the gesture. Just put for step one to get invaded at crucifixion woods, and then turn in pale tongue to Rosaria, then summon him before Abyss Watcher to get the gesture. Why is that so hard?!?!

One of the many things that I find absolutely irritating are how so many tutorials online for ds3, Elden Ring, etc are thow they don't actually explain what the hell something is. WHAT DOES THIS DO??? Is it just a gestue? Does it have any value? Jesus.

            • Anonymous

Forgot to grab proper bow AGAIN! I'm going to get the damned rings achievement before I get the one for gestures.

                PRAISE THE SUN !!!
First time i get it, i do the gesture in real life, and i feel like my health is better than ever, my shoulder and eldbow "crack", and i feel much better.
Then... I do it 100 times per days since then.
                Thanks ds3

Rested at all the bonfires in the game and still somehow missing the Rest gesture.... this is the last thing I need to get all achievements fml

'By my sword' when equipping fist-type weapons (or simply bare hands) looks like the standing 'Toast' gesture

Hello DS3 player, I am come to you for a little favour, and I will carry this message to everywhere in DS3 community.
There is a glitch that allows you to summon white sign mad phantom in Gael’s Arena (Credit to Dashingsaint), if you keep Shira alived while she invade you (you can escape her simply sprint out her aggro range), you won’t trigger gael boss cutscene, and then you could put down you purple summon white sign or summon other white purple.
Thus, a new fight club is founded, an arena in a long lost dessert under the sunset sky which sprinkle with fainted galaxy.
If you’re watching this, kindly please help me share this and invite any ds3 enthusiast you known to this new fight club, your little effort would be much appreciated.
                      SL25+2, SL40+4, SL60+6, SL72+8, SL90+10, SL125 Meta, SL 351++, all SL range are acceptable.
Welcome to the Gael’s Sunset Arena, the most beautiful map in the entire series, the last arena at the End of World.
I will await you there, in the End of the World, and we shall fight eternal, shiny and incandescence.

On the off chance that someone sees this comment and finally answers my question for certain, since it's technically in the game files, if I enable Unmannered Bow will other players be able to see it if I use it online?

                        • Anonymous

Since stealth is going to be a thing in the Elden Ring I feel like we are going to see teabagging as the ultimate disrespect.

                          • Anonymous

quite literally not a gesture but couldn't find any better page so:

what's the reason some players kick after killing you in a duel? does it happen accidentally, do they think of it as a form of disrespect, or what? lol

                            • Anonymous

the lack of the "no way" gesture from DS2 is big disappointment, we don't have any emote that expresses negation in DS3 and it's sorely lacking

                              • Anonymous

Is there a way to signal "come on man, I'm just trying to get to the boss, can you just not right now?" I don't expect it to work, but I'm a noob and all invaders seem to very much not be, and I'd love to at least attempt to communicate that I don't want to waste a precious ember getting my ass kicked by an invader.

Hey, is point up considered a offensive gesture?
I use this more as a joke since my character is a Cleric but I never considered what the opponents thought of it

                                  • Anonymous

My fav gesture is when you spam the block button, bonus points if you are 2 handing a weapon, especially a staff. :P

                                    • Anonymous

Point down at me all you like but nothing gets me more than the players who refuse to gesture at all in the arena and just stand there until their opponent finishes gesturing. How insecure do you have to be to act like this? Maybe they find it dumb or even cringe? I don’t know man but even players who try attack you during a gesture don’t phase me as much because you know they’re trying to get people salty even if it’s in a lame lazy way.

                                      • Anonymous

Whenever I see an enemy or player get backstabbed/riposted I always quickly run over to do the point down gesture. Doesn't matter if you're friend or foe you're gettin pointed at

                                        • Anonymous

i forgot to talk to yole and now i don't have the beckon gesture. big sad, it's the best one to use against a cowardly gank squad.

                                          • Anonymous

                                            Stretch out gesture is OP.

Not even joking, for trolling invasions and invaders this is the best. Hide under water and kill line of sight. Gesture persists until cancelled manually.

When being invaded- pair this with rapport and make the red phantom soil their pants when a Corvian knight or cathedral knight reduces them to dust unexpectedly.

bowing to tryhards and metamancers is the more disrespectful thing to do because it implies that they didn't even piss you off enough for you to give a point down

                                                • Anonymous

The emote is miss most is well what is it but atleast welcome is basicly the same but you dont walk forward

                                                  • Anonymous

Why so many unnecessary gestures? The only one that I need is the point down cuz I'm OP. Plus, they should make "dropping dung pie" a gesture as I also used it alot with my pkcs.

                                                    • Anonymous

They went from giving us gestures like well what is it and look skyward to removing ones like unmannered bow before release. I’m not sure why they would want DS3 to be so much softer and friendlier than the others but it is a real shame.

                                                      • Anonymous

For the 'By My Sword' gesture, you receive it as soon as you summon Black Hand Gotthard for either Pontiff or Watchers, no need to take them into the fight or win the boss fight with them

                                                        • Anonymous

ahh yes the point down gesture only time I use it is when a player decides to be a **** and straight attack after being summoned for a duel hello friend we bow or gesture before we duel lol or when they heal at pontif arena knowing the have a huge estus advantage

This is the last achievement I need and the only one I don’t have is the proper bow from yellowfinger because I always do the deacons before the watchers. Fml

Point down is definitely the most toxic emote in the game, I personally only do it if my combatant does something that genuinely pisses me off, like attack while we're toasting. It's pretty aggravating when someone points down on you after getting ganked.

                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

If you use the sleep gesture next to the fire keeper she will not react, but when you end the gesture it will surprise her and she jolts slightly. Small details

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

I'd like some sort of gesture to communicate "yes" or "no" concepts, as well as some more of the friendly gestures, like the toast.

                                                                              • Anonymous

I'm trying to get the platinum trophy for DARK SOULS 3, on two of the trophies are "Master of Expression" and "Master of Rings". Here is what I wanted to ask.
                                                                                    -Is the best solution to first complete gathering all gestures? If I do so, I wound be able to receive the Silver Cat ring from Sirris since I would have to join the Rosaria covenant to receive the "Proper bow" gesture from Yellowfinger Heysel. Is it a possibility to gather the remaining Silver Cat ring NG?+ Is if then;
