Tailbone Spear is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Twisted spear favored by the wretched, failed prisoners of Irithyll Dungeon.

Crafted from a feeble tailbone, and seen as a sign of the dragons. Their screams are oft heard inside the dungeon, as they naively mutilate their unworthy flesh.

Skill: Unleash Dragon
Thrust the spear to unleash the strength of dragons, similar to an ancient dragon weapon, only with its power tragically faded.

I'm probably getting lucky, but so glad i waited till i got gold serpent +3 to farm gear. That with avarice, crystal sage, and rusted coins have netted me both tailbone weapons, all jailer equipment, falchion, every carthus weapon, and the bonewheel greatsheild all in 4 or less runs. Even with 7 luck, this is the smoothest farming ive had in any souls game. Completion-souls here i come!

      • This weapon is as 'good' as people say it is. Not a very good spear, but a powerful PvP tool nonetheless. Any build that has the stats to support it should probably farm for it. Just like a blessed caestus it's in your inventory for utility, not damage. You invest in this thing for the same reasons you'd invest into Force, to destroy gankers and hackers.

I got the tailbone spear and then short sword, from two successive enemy drops, while playing normally / not farming / no item discovery gear equipped. my brother who was co-oping at the time couldn't believe it as he'd never even heard of them. guess that's my luck for this playthrough!

Excellent weapon. Especially when fighting gank squad at Pontiff. Moat people expect force to be used on the pillars, but this has greater range and is less obvious, you can knock them off through the walls and pillars. Also great to fight people that like to roll constantly or spam weapon arts.

Excuse me, this stick with a bone on it is reinforced with probably the rarest upgrade mat.? I know the dragonchaser ashes fix the rarity but, aside from lore, that's still pretty obscene for a spear that is only relevant because it's a stabby version of emit force

You think this is hard to get? Try getting the snake man's staff. Had to get my luck to +20, gold coin, symbol of averice, and i had to kill the dude around 30 times before i got it. Not disappointed traded it for soliare's shield.

Weapon art is rather annoying, but you can just block it with medium shield and recovery time for this isn't that great, though if you are near the cliff and without a shield you might as well jump off of it.

Was doing some 2v2's last night and guy on oppersite team was using this thing. Was wearing very light armour so must have had Flynns ring on and probably Leo ring too. When up close I was getting poked to death with 2 handed R1's before I could even get an attack off (I was using Ledo's Great Hammer) and from I distance I was constantly getting knocked over by the WA. It reaches way further than you think and I was constantly getting hit by it as I was respawning in. Very annoying.

I'm gonna try a Flynn build 20 strength 30 dex 30 maybe 40 vitality and let you know what kinda damage I can get with it

I swear this doesn't exist. I've farmed absolutely everything but this. I'm on 100+ runs with 427 item discovery and I have never seen a single one.

                        • Anonymous

I have 3 of these on my first character ever (Pyromancer), and I've never used them. I wasn't farming for them and didn't have any weapon discovery boosts. But I haven't seen it drop on any of my other 7 or 8 characters.

I'm running around with 420+ discovery and I still can't get this to drop. I got the short sword from the other ones but this one hasn't dropped at all

Found one on first play through (without farming, it just dropped first kill). Thought it sucks. Didn't use it. Later found out how long ppl farm this thing to get it. Started using it. Not meta but good for lolz

In my attempts only the ones with the weapon drop it so the two spear Wretches drop the spear weapon and vice versa vor the other weapon
I have not seen a single titanite scale so either that drop is EXTREMEly rare or they dont actually drop that
You also need to be careful not to push them into the wall as that can make the drops unreachable sometimes

The only Wretch that seems to drop this (farmed out every wretch until 5 spear drops) seems to be the one in the back left corner of Irithyll Dungeon. All the others have only ever given me shortswords.

Hey I was wondering whether it is really that hard to find because (maybe I got really really lucky) I found both (the Spear and the Short Sword they drop) in maybe 10-20 minutes in my first run. I equipped the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, the Crystal Sage's Rapier, the Symbol of Avarice and used a Rusted Coin (I had 13 points in the Luckstat so I had a total of 363 Item Discovery). I started from the Irithyll Dungeon Bonfire and ran (with the hidden body spell and the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring) down the corridor to the unlocked gate, dropped down and went left where the 2 Wretches are. It took me much more time to finally find the Heavy Crossbow than the Spear and the Short Sword.

I think the one with the spear is actually the one that thrusts its weapon at you when you chased the crystal lizard by the cages, before heading out a opened gate door and then seeing the profaned capital in the distance, before taking a right and continuing downward past the mob hiding behind the pillar, one with a machete, and then another with a crossbow. Though its pretty out of place to just farm that single one. The one next to it, crying in the cage until you open it gave me the dagger version first try (idk if thats a 100% drop tho), and it also says via this wiki about the dagger wretches possibly dropping the spear as well, albeit very rarely. Oh well, time to try to farm

I'm trying to farm this weapon but I wanted to know do they drop it randomly or i must kill the one holding it

                                        • Anonymous

Only reason to use this thing is for its insane WA. The range on it is so far, I once pretended to aim for a host's phantom with it and in actuality tried to kill the host, who was hanging around far behind the guy trying to harass with firebombs. It proceeded to blow the guy away and explode the last bit of his healthbar, netting me a new pale tongue and an ember. Sheesh.Otherwise, it doesn't exactly have the best AR since it can't be infused or buffed.

Where is the enemy that wields this? I've been through the dungeon many times and I have yet to see an enemy that uses a spear in the dungeon.
