Staves are wielded in order to cast Sorceries. Casting Sorceries consumes Focus Points. Their Skill buffs the power of cast spells for a short duration.

Man, i truly miss those staves that halven your cast count for double the power. Sage's crystal staff is a far cry of what manus's staff was.

      • Anonymous

The Izalith Staff a must-use if I consider using sorceries for my pyro build, as it scales off Int-Faith, but then I like the WA on the Story Tellers Staff and Immolation tinder...

        • Anonymous

For people asking, past 60 int Court Sorcerers is the best (actually don't bother going past 60 int unless you have extra points). Izalith's is better for dark sorceries only I believe.

          • Anonymous

What's a good pathway when building a sorcery build (i.e. what's the best staffs to use at certain int ranges)?

            • Anonymous

If I have 15 Intelligence what is the best Staff? I'll be using it for Spells like Spook and Crystal Magic Weapon.

              • Anonymous

So if I were to keep my 4 stats at 40/25/25/30 since this is more a STR build, which staff would be best in terms of scaling? Some of these aren't at the right scaling. My stats when viewing the Izalith Staff are 40/20/25/28 and the Spell buff is 126, not 130, so this is something I'd like to know.

                • Anonymous

Court Sorcerer's Staff is amazing in a 100~120sl build. S Scalling at +7 and 50 intelligence make you save some points to other stats and don't make you waste a slab for it. I had a good time betting the NG+ Ancient Wyvern with CSS using only Soul Spear.

PS: I'm brazilian so don't hate me for my akward english.

                  • Anonymous

I know this post is old but after seeing testing done the court sorcerer staff is not the best staff in the game for magic damage. At 60 intelligence with four plus rings and the Candlestick to boost your magic damage the Sage's Crystal staff out Powers the court sorcerer staff by about 60 to 70 points of damage doing over 2000 damage while the court only does 1950. So if you're going for just that little bit extra damage which can mean either one hitting someone or just finishing up a boss the crystal sages staff is the way to go in the long run. think about it hitting a boss two or three more times you're still roughly doing 500 more damage by the end of the fight versus the court sorcerer.

As a suggestion could a column of Spell Bluff be added to each strave's upgrade chart. Whilst knowing what the Attack Value Bonus (and damage reduction) from Reg to Reg +10 (or +5) .. is nice. Having Spell Bluff figures for each upgrade level would be far better for comparison between strave's.

There should be a staff for casting sorceries and pyromancies. or, atleast the immolation tinder should have

                        • Anonymous

I'm kinda confused on what people are saying. What's the best catalyst for normal sorceries? I might dabble in dark spells later though.

                          • Anonymous

Why do people say the Court Sorcerer's Staff is the strongest? I'm looking at the stats and it appears to have lower damage than just the regular Sorcerer's Staff...am I missing something?

                            • Anonymous

does anyone else feel left out as a sorcerer? like not enough good weapons, NO bosses weak to magic, mega weak, not really any good infusion weapons like take the PGCS for example yes it has good scaling for simple and crystal... but, the scaling for that weapon is good for any caster though (the weapon sucks any way) but tell me if you agree, or im doing something wrong?

Iznalith is the best staff if you are going sorcerer swordsman as it gets the highest physical damage of any staff and is super long if you hit within the staff range it uses the physical damage as well

                                  • Anonymous

So I've tried it out and the best thing to do is use the court staff in the main hand and crystal in the other use crystal staffs ability but cast with court give the most damage boost

                                    • Anonymous

I can verify that the spell buff increases with the reinforcement of Talismans, Chimes, and other spellcasting gear, but how much it irises I cannot verify, nor which one has the best spell-buff endgame. Can someone testthese amounts for me and upload them? Can a column be added for spell buff to the talismans, chimes, catalysts' etc. upgrade tables?

                                      • Anonymous

These numbers are incorrect. Spell buff only shows at 60 when you don't fulfill the start requirements. It also increases based upon your intelligence/faith stat. Perhaps the stats should be changed to spell buff level at minimum requirement and spell buff at 40/40 int/faith.

                                        • Anonymous

Does upgrading the staff influence damage alongside the scaling or is scaling the only stat that matters? I dont understand how to see if a staff is netter than another it was displayed way better in dks2. Anyone know what staff would be best for damage spells? Or does the spell buff determine dmg.

                                          • Anonymous

My sorcerer staff ( starting staff ) is showing 120 at base form. is that possibly because i started in sorcerer class?

                                            • Maybe it's just me who would love such an item, but i would love to be able to parry with a staff, i would never need a shield again It would be better then steady chant anyway...

                                              • Anonymous

Ok so I tested heretic, sorc staff, court sorc staff, and sage's crystal staff at 50 int 0 faith and max reinforcement. Heretic:200, Sorc staff: 202, Court sorc staff:202, Crystal staff:187 At 60 int 0 faith Heretic:220, Sorc Staff:226, Court sorc staff:238, Crystal staff:207So at 50 int court staff and sorc staff do the exact same dmg even with staff buff. Crystal staff however out shine's in the dmg department with its staff buff by a noticable amount but the ap consumed is pretty noticeable as well. So above 50 int Court sorc staff is overall best for casting most spells.....HOWEVER for spells like Farron Flash Blade the heretics staff length comes into play making it quite valuable. Like swinging a spear like a sword

                                                • Anonymous

First playthrough - currently at lvl 56 with 59 INT, planning on hitting the mid cap of 60. Sorcerer's Staff +4 spell buff at 213 -> 215 @ +5Heretic's Staff +4 Spell buff at 209 -> 211 @ +5Sage's Crystal staff sorcery buff only applies when Chanted according to the wiki --> but it has a high 130 starting spell buff with a beginning B scaling such as the starting sorcerer staff.Court Sorcerer's spell buff only starts at 60.Unless the Court Sorcerer's Staff has a ridiculous scaling and/orThe Sage's Crystal staff scales higher than the sorcerer's staff;it seems that the starting Sorcerer's Staff is the best one for pure sorcery damage. As someone has pointed out on the wiki, +4 heretic's comes out ahead in spell buff compared to Sage's Crystal +4 by a small amount (not considering spell chant buff). And since the starting Sorcerer's Staff comes out slightly ahead of heretic's, it seems that the starting Sorcerer's Staff is the clear winner until I can get my hands on the Court Sorcerer's staff to test out the scaling @60 INT.

                                                  • Anonymous

weapon skill: steady chant, steady chant, steady chant, poison spore...a single unique ability for staffs. Here I was expecting shockwaves, unique spells, maybe a 'soul ultra greatsword' weapon ability, but nope.
