I am the white void I am the cold steel I am the just sword With blade in hand I will reap the sins of this earth and cleanse it into the fires of destruction! I AM HAKUMEN! THE END HAS COME!
the weapon art can be spammed faster than unsheathe in elden ring and it does a ton of poise damage. enough to hit a boreal outrider out of an attack animation
I believe this name is a nod to Sasaki Kojiro's weapon from the Musashi Miamoto Samurai trilogy (1954-1956), which he called the monohoshizao ("The Laundry-Drying Pole"). Excellent movies. Highly recommend. Not so sure about this hilariously long butter knife, though.
I was looking for a dexterity weapon of every size class for versatility in pvp and im amazed and dissapointed to see this weabu weapon is hardly even a dexterity weapon, littered with quirky weaknesses, and requires 2 more strength to use than the astora great sword. Absolutely sad.

Lowest durability but how often does anyone even get warned about a weapon being in danger in DS3? It's happened to me twice on my current character and I'm about to start an NG+3.
This is the worst weapon I've used that doesn't have a reputation for being a bad weapon, if that makes sense. Obviously, weapons like Handmaid's Dagger and Soldering Iron are far worse, but everyone knows those are terrible. This weapon is heavy (therefore it uses more stamina) and it doesn't even have an R1, R1 true combo like every other weapon in the game, among other draw backs. It doesn't have the AR to counteract these disadvantages. The only thing it has going for it is its range. Even then, it's really not that much longer than Onikiri or Frayed Blade. The only real use for the weapon that I can see is to swap to it when someone starts running away so you can use it's admittedly extremely good running R1s. Even then, though, I'd say Frayed Blade is better. While it's a bit shorter, at least you have a good weapon equipped if you're opponent decides to start fighting back or starts using 'turn and burns'. Washing Pole isn't so much a weapon as it is a chase down tool and it's not even the best option for that. It was decent in DS1, but in DS3, I wouldn't recommend it. There's a reason you almost never see it in PVP, despite how cool it looks.
I've just figured out that pkcs outclassed this sword in every way possible. Well, except for the R1 range but that's not a problem since pretty much all pkcs players are skilled to the core and will easily own any weeboo scrubs who use this sword. Not to mention that pkcs's WA can still out range it.
Doing a pick build. I Washington do pure luck but at the hard cap of level 40 luck I decided I might add to other stats. What cool weapons might go well with luck and luck only? If it's just arni 's sword than I will put more deprived stats somewhere else! Good pve is more important.
This weapon doesn't get double hits on standing r1s, that might not seem so bad if you only spamming running r1 but it means it has way worse standing pressure than other katanas, just use the chaos blade imo, much better damage and stamina consumption
Can anyone tell me why this thing is called Washing Pole? I'm from Germany and the name of this weapon in my language is Nodachi. Did From just made a joke or is this really the English name?
bro there's even hate mail on wikis thats pretty bad themz gotta come here for that instead of a forum or even a youtube video about it, when you bought the game you bought the community. imma lay it down like a ham sandwich. read up on murphy's law especially with dark souls or those "dex fags playing weeb the sequel" is still gonna make you go get your dropped souls back. not one soul is givin how one feels about the noob with a hitbox three anime shows long. your still rezzing at a bonfire aint ya...
a shame your character holds it like that. a katana should point toward the ground or the sky, or lay on your shoulder considering its a no dachi (its heavy)... it kills the fashion souls for me
Hornet ring, then parry, then finish with the weapon art gigantic slash if your opponent rolls on the side, or the running R1 if he tries to flee. One of the few weapons benefitting really from the wooden ring for PVE, to avoid it to break too easily. I did a SL100 run with the deep infusion, with just 20 STR/18 DEX and the rest on vitality/attunement/vigor/endurance. Easy to go to NG+7.
You are on this page one of Five Reasons. 1. To make a joke about this weapon's running R1 attack. 2. To call everyone who uses this a "dexfag". 3. You actually need important information about this weapon. 4. You clicked here by mistake. 5. You wanted to comment why this weapon is called "Washing Pole".
Hold seems like a pretty silly WA for this weapon, especially due to the length. It would make more sense if it used a Jo-dan stance like in kendo that gave the option of a powerful vertical slash or wide horizontal swipe.
I only ever see this used for running R1s, because spacing in DS3 is basically nonexistent due to latency. You can never tell when this weapon is actually within range to hit you, so you have to roll no matter what. And if you're getting ganked, that tends to lead to people rollcatching with the washing pole guy forcing you to roll.
Is this thing's weapon art even physically possible? I know this game has lots of physically impossible things in it, but to quick draw from a sheath on your hip a weapon as long as you are tall...
I normally love this blade. Its reach. Makes salt fly everywhere and if your smart you could get a few good stunlocks. But it's continuity. Is terrible. Making it very hard to actually fight for more than a moment. Plus its attack isn't as initially high as other blades.
Correction: The blade scales B on Dexterity with a Sharp Infusion and +10, not A In the table for Sharp Infusion specifically, this is already the case and only the max table needs to be corrected
To clarify: Washing Pole is the translation of the name of the Nodachi (a very long katana) used in Gunryu against Musashi, in the most famous duel of all times. The book Musashi is the most read in Japan, the place of the batle was a island that now is call Gunryu Jin ("Gunryu island"), and there is a statue of both warriors a second before they strike, in the exact place where it happens. Musashi is the most famous person in the history of Japan. Most of what we know from Manga and Anime have influence on his story, and there is a word in japonese that means "musashi like". Just google musashi...
I'm going to make a sephiroth build and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to give me a washing pole level 0 is fine I just want the weapon at the start of the game
The complaints about this weapon are unwarranted. It can't combo more than 1 R1 and its running attack is now very reactable, while just like in DS1 its running attack completely negated by a shield. Trading with this weapon is laughably easy since you won't even eat two hits if your timing is off. If you can't beat this weapon you're failing at the basic fundamentals of the game.
Can someone with an account remove the following note: "With Sharp infusion this is the second highest damaging katana in the game for Dex builds after Chaos Blade. This is the best choice for Dex builds who rely heavily on weapon buffs since Chaos Blade cannot be buffed." As it isn't true. As far as I can tell, the Black Blade is superior for Dex builds and is also buffable; making this note not only invalid, but a falsehood.
