Demon's Scar is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3. It is part of The Ringed City.

This chaotic thing, the last flame kindled by a demon prince, is shaped like the claw marks of a demon.

It is both a fiery bladed weapon, and pyromancy flame.

Skill: Spin Slash
Spin to stoke a fierce chaos flame, and use momentum to transition into a spinning strong attack, creating an short-lived lava pool.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Infused or Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Titanite Scale.
  • The weapon doubles as a Pyromancy Flame, so it does not have any heavy attacks.
  • When wielded in offhand, the L1 will not block, but perform a light attack.
  • Pyromancies cast with this weapon will scale with Dexterity in addition to Intelligence and Faith.
  • At 20 Dex, 40 Int, 40 Faith, it has an AR of 350 and a spell buff of 190.
  • Has no Strength scaling and no physical damage, so it is not hindered by split damage and two handing the weapon will not give any significant AR bonus.
  • Since it doesn't do physical damage, Flynn's Ring has no effect on it.
  • Has the highest Critical damage out of all the Curved Swords.
  • It is the lightest Curved Sword in the game.
  • Witch's Ring and the Great Swamp Ring does not increase the damage but the Fire Clutch Ring will.
  • Only limited testing, but the critical also appears to affect critical attack spells, such as Sacred Flame. (Minor testing was accomplished on the drakeblood knights, with both a +10 Demon's Scar and a +10 Pyromancy Flame and 40/40 Int/Fai.)
  • This weapon made it remarkably easy to get the items located within the lava around Smouldering Lake.  For little to no weight, it has an effective fire block.

The description for the item has been changed since this page was written. The "evanescent lava chamber" was changed to "short-lived lava pool" during a patch I'm guessing.

I'm at the Pyro-softcaps, and Demon's Scar+5 does the same fire damage as a Chaos Longsword+10, but none of the physical damage. Spell buff is not much lower than other Pyro-catalysts at least. But stilll, this is only ever useful if you absolutely have to a) use melee attacks b) cast pyromancies and c) use a shield or spells from other schools, all in the same fight and without switching what you have in hand. Applications outside of PvP are pretty slim I'd wager.

The critical modifier has nothing to do with the sacred flame damage, thats boosted by the weapons inherent fire damage. took about 12 seconds of testing to figure that out.

Did anyone noticed, when you have for example Demon Scar in right hand and two handing something like shield, Scar disappear? But using Lifehunt Scythe or Lightning Arrow it's attached on character side like normal sword?

Despite the lower Spell Buff, the Demon's Scar deals ~20% more Damage with Sacred Flame than the regular Pyroflame, and Black Fire Orb deals roughly the same Damage. Regular Fire Orb does seem to conform to Spell Buff however. Very peculiar weapon, this.

Demon's scar weapon art does not have any hyper armor whatsoever. You can be denied mid air by literally everything.
And because it doesn't do poise damage either you can't just "lock" someone into it.

My fellow pyromancers, you're better off using the small dragonhead shield in your off-hand than two-handing it.

I'm thinking of pairing this with the Crystal Chime to make a super caster. Not totally convinced by dark spells through. Heard that chime sucks with them.

Are their any other weapons that have 2 attacks in their off hand mode? IMO makes this weapon great.
Not much better than hitting some thing in the face with a flaming log (carthus flame great club) and having either a quick attack or ranged pyro to follow.

What's the point of using this over a chaos/dark infused curved sword and a normal pyromancy flame? Several curved swords have better int/faith scaling when infused with either of those and the normal pyromancy flame has a better spell buff.

I've seen a lot of poeple trying to parry me when I use this scimitar and none of them succeeded, I even got hate messages from it.
Can this weapon really be parried, or are they just too bad?

I still think this thing's a Pyromancer gamechanger. It's strong enough as a catalyst so any pyromancy you want at your fingertips at all times, combined with one of the best movesets in well...all of Dark Souls really in the curved sword R1 and backflip, and even a spinning style WA that leaves a chaos spell esque puddle all in one package. In my opinion it's honestly all a Pyromancer needs. This thing loaded with Black Flame, Black Serpent (quickly becoming imo one of the most abusable spells in the game.), Chaos Bed Vestiges, and any additional Pyro of your choice can handle almost anything.

It's potentially ONLY drawback is if someone puts on full flame resistance+profuse sweat, which isn't gonna happen too often but it might be good to pack an Onyx Blade or some other Dark weapon just incase.

I have a question for all yall pro's out there! Can you dual wield this wep if you go into newgame plus? If so does it change casting speeds or dmg or anything at all? Would it be good/bad for anything at all? I know offcourse it does not make sense to do this, but im curius as i have never tried it myself and have not seen videos for it either.... also i like just knowing stats and changes so this is interesting to me!

                              17 / 40 / 40, +10, Witch Ring equipped, tested on Silver Knights.
                              Hunter's Ring equipped (total dex 22): Sacred Flame:924, Chaos Bed Westiges:569, R1:208
                              No Hunter's Ring: Sacred Flame:916, CBW:564, R1:206
With Hunter's Ring and Catrhus Milkring (total dex 25), Demon's Scar deals more damage with pyromancies than Parting Flame despite having 10 less adjustment. (Not counting the additional combustion explosion)

This weapon is almost too good. for starters you can now be a sorcerer/Cleric in your left hand, and a Pyromancer in your right. You become highly unpredictable, and nobody really can see what you're planning to do next. if the weapon art had hyper armor it would be OP
